Carbonated beverages
My doctor said no carbonation EVER. I took a drink of pop one day because I thought I missed the taste, but it hurt like hell going down and tasted like crap. So I will gladly follow my doctor orders.

All These Complications are Making Me Nervous!!!
To original op I was banded 7 1/2 months ago and down 93 pounds (at doctor's goal as of today and 10 away from personal). I have had no complications, including no pbs or vomiting. I have gotten stuck for not chewing good and eating too fast though. I had a lot of fears reading this site too, but I tried to just put that in the back of my head and let faith take over. I love my band, it gave me back my life. I worry about complications down the road but I would just get another band or surgery if I had to.

for those that have lost ALOT of weight, what are you going to do about the extra skin?
I have lost 92 pounds with 10-15 left to lose. I don't plan on getting plastic surgery of any kind. Firstly I could never afford it and secondly I have seen the scars from tummy tucks and body lifts, etc and in my honest opinion would bother me more than my little bit of saggy skin. I have two children that stretched my stomach out but it has actually bounced back pretty well. And I am 37 so I won't end up looking 20 again with surgery anyway. Lol.

Nearly a year after surgery-and I NEED HELP!
And you might be right about your slower weight loss being because you already had lost so much before. Congratulations on how far you have come.

Nearly a year after surgery-and I NEED HELP!
I am one that has to have a protein shake for breakfast and yogurt or chili for lunch because my band is tighter at those times. For dinner I can eat one cup of anything. My doctor said this is perfectly fine restriction. I have never pb'd and I don't have reflux. If I were you I wouldn't get an unfill and try to stick to only one cup of solid protein at dinner.

Pants are no longer in the 20's WOO HOO
Awesome job. I just went to Aeropostale yesterday and I fit in their sizes which are juniors 13/14. I still have about 15 more pounds to go, so hopefully will get in their 11/12 soon.

What have you lost...
I have lost a newborn calf. Only ten dozen eggs to go. The Newborn calf is also the same weight of my 11 year old and 2 year old combined.

How long does it "usually" take people to get approved?
It took me a month and a half from seminar to surgery. I had nutritionist, psych, testing, doctor, etc visits all in that time. It only took a few days for insurance approval.

Merry Christmas Everyone.
Merry Christmas. I am a firm believer that you can have any holiday meal without falling off the track. Just follow the rules: protein first, no drinking with meals or close before or after, etc. I also have a rule if I want a treat I let myself have 3 small bites and then i am done. Have.a great day.

OMG I saw a 1

Dr. refuses to fill me!!!
I agree with if it ain't broke don't fix it. I have lost 88 pounds in 7 months. But after this last fill I have only lost 2 pounds. I think I screwed up getting this last one and mad that I didn't leave it alone. I was staying full for 4-5 hours but I thought I needed to make my meals less than a cup. Well they are less than a cup now but I am just not losing. I am really close to goal and that could be part of the slow down too, but I think I got too tight. I don't get stuck or pb though so I am going to ride it out. Don't get a fill right now, trust your doctor.

The numbers don't lie!!!
I am dealing with this right now. I had surgery 7 months ago and I am down 88 pounds (5 pounds from doctor goal of 169, I am 5'7"). And I still see myself as fat. Everyone around me is saying how great I look but I still don't see it. Some days I catch a glimpse and think I look pretty good but most often I feel like I need to lose another 20 pounds, so I am going to try. But I am afraid my head will never catch up and I may never be happy about my weight no matter how small I get.

I HAVE A DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Awesome! You are not to far away from the big day. I hope you will have a successful surgery and journey with your band. I love mine!

Vision problems after anesthesia?
I had that problem too. It was very annoying. I would just have to stop trying to read or watch tv and just go to sleep. But it let up after a few days.

Christmas Challenge
Someone screwed with the spreadsheet and changed all the weights. Mine is completely wrong now so I guess I am done with this challenge. Very Childish behavior!

Leaving on a jet plane......
I was told by my doctor's office no eating a day of flying, liquids only. Your band can become tighter and could cause problems. And then you are away from your doctor if you get too tight.

What is your favorite alcoholic beverage post banding?
I used to drink diet coke and vanilla vodka but no carbonation now so I drink cranberry vodka. Chocolate martinis are awesome and so are appletinis.

Anyone on antidepressants or moodstabilizers
I take Wellbutrin and Geodon for bipolar. My doctor put me on these almost 4 years ago because I obviously already had a weight problem and they have the least weight gain effect. I was banded six months ago and I take them as prescribed with no problems. I have lost 86 pounds since surgery and have six pounds until goal, so they haven't stalled my weight loss.
-
Alcohol loosening up the band?!
I drink vodka cranberry juice, I had to give up the diet coke because of no carbonation rule. Alcohol is okay in moderation. I usually save some calories during the day if I know I am going out for drinks. But I make sure to eat about an hour before because drinking alcohol makes me hungry and I know I can't eat anything because I would end up eating junk. And I am only 6 pounds away from goal.

My clothes don't hurt!!
I am right there with you too. I just went through my closet and tried on all my clothes and realized that everything that is in there now fits or is even too big. I no longer have clothes that are tight and don't fit right. It is amazing because I used to have so many of those too small to even imagine to wear again clothes. I absolutely love my band. I went to dinner tonight and could only eat 1/4 of a turkey and wheat sandwich and 3 spoonfuls of chicken noodle soup. Before I would have eaten the whole thing, all the chips and the whole bowl of soup. No wonder my clothes fit now. Lol!

Hair Loss
I am 6 months out and very near goal so I have had fast weight loss. I have also lost a TON of hair. It used to be very thick but not anymore. I have to wrap a rubber band around my hair more times now. I take biotin and get in my protein, but I think it just has to run its course.

What do you do when you have a stuck episode?
I chew a couple papaya enzymes and it goes right down. I have never had it come back up. Thank God!

I dont feel different after surgery
It is very important to follow your doctor's rules. Do not eat solids before you are told to. You must let your stomach heal. The band is stitched and it needs time for scar tissue to develop to hold it in place. You could cause a slip. Don't worry about being hungry just add more protein drinks to your day.
