  1. Hi guys! I started back to work yesterday. I've noticed that since then, I am alot hungrier than I was while I wasn't working. Has this happened to anyone else? I figure it's just because I'm more active (I work as a floor nurse). Another thing I've noticed is that the scale hasn't budged in almost two weeks. I know this is the "bandster hell" I hear about, but it is really getting frustrating. I have not cheated once, but that doesn't seem to matter cuz the scale hasn't moved. I am happy I have lost 13 pounds, but I"m scared how long it's going to take to lose more. I'm starting to get depressed about it.
  2. How long has it been since you went Jen? If it's been more than a couple days, I'd call your doctor or go to the ER, especially if you're nauseated. You may be blocked higher, so the enema may not work. I'd try Miralax or MOM, then the enema if you don't go. There is another drug called Mag Citrate, but I would not try it unless you talk to the doctor first! If you're feeling really sick though, I'd call your doctor or head to the ER!
  3. Congrats ChocolateDream81!!! I was banded on May 13 and am down 13 pounds so far. You are really lucky to have already lost 22 pounds!!! I hope it keeps up!
  4. They did a study on this which proved that birth control pills do very little to make you gain weight. The only birth control method that makes you gain weight is the Depo Provera shot. At least that's what the study said.
  5. I'm so excited..I went to my surgeon's office for my post op visit and I'm down 13 pounds! Kind of nervous cuz my weight loss stalled a little bit, but excited that I lost weight! Going July 8 for my first fill....still really nervous about that, but you guys have made me feel alot better! Thanks for listening! Take care!
  6. It's nice to meet you Stacy! My name is Leeanne. I live in Pennsylvania. I don't have any kids, but I have seven rabbits, two chinchillas, a guinea pig, a mouse, and a gerbil..they're kind of like my kids! I'm currently a Licensed Practical Nurse. I'm furthering my education and am heading into my fourth semester to get my RN, so I guess I'm in school...still...too! LOL I was banded on May 13, 2010 and weighed in at 249. So far, I've lost twelve pounds and have had no real complications with the band either. I wasn't really overweight either until I hit my early twenties. I was an avid roller skater up until 20, and then I stopped skating. I'm thinking that kept me in shape. I also worked midnight for two years which screwed up my metabolism. I got so tired of losing 50 pounds just to gain it back, so surgery was the only option I saw. I too love the support here. Anytime there's something that I'm worried about, I find the answers here. Good luck on your journey! It is very nice to meet you!
  7. Congratulations! You should be so proud of yourself!!!!!!
  8. Thanks guys! Catherine55 you're right! I am always so uncomfortable around ppl because of my weight! I just have to be very careful what I eat as to not pb or vomit. Thanks! :smile2:
  9. For about nine days or so after I was banded, I had this horrible chest pain from the gas in my stomach. I found that walking around helped! Good luck!
  10. Thanks guys! I feel a little better!
  11. Thanks guys! I LOVE roller coasters! I'm going to my surgeon on Friday for my post op appt. I'm going to talk to her to see if it's okay! :smile2:
  12. I keep reading about how horrible pbing and vomiting is with the Lap Band. I'm kind of scared and starting to panic! Does it hurt bad? Do you have any warning when you start? How long does it last? Sorry to ask so many questions. I'm not allowed to for a couple more weeks, but I'm scared to eat normal food! Can you handle it on your own, or does it end up as a trip to the ER?
  13. Thanks for the idea Sunshine! I am so tired of yogurt! lol It'll be nice to try something else for a treat!
  14. I know this is probably a really dumb question, but me and my sister are going to Kennywood (amusement park) in July. Do you think I'll be able to ride rides safely having been banded May 13? I'm very paranoid about something getting displaced in there! lol I'd appreciate you guys telling me your experiences with this!
  15. Crecia that is totally normal. I started the process in October. I got weighed in once a month for six months for the insurance company. I did bad most of the month, until like a week before I got weighed in. It is totally normal to feel the way you're feeling. It's like the last few months you can eat without really worrying. I have learned from reading posts on this site, that you can have things you really want, just in small portions and as long as you REALLY chew it! Just be careful though if you need to get weighed in monthly. My doctor said that if I gained weight in any of those months, my insurance would turn me down for the surgery. I just made sure I was the same weight or a pound or two smaller when I went to the doctor's.
  16. Amy, I hope I have a vitamin shoppe near me! LOL If not, I found a site that will ship them, not sure how expensive that is! I may have to go to Giant Eagle and stock up!
  17. I was banded May 13, 2010. I have gotten nauseous once, but so far I haven't thrown up. Just sip fluids slowly. I have gotten some good advice off of this forum for when I can eat solid food. Chew Chew Chew is what I'm being told! Take small bites too! Good luck!
  18. Thank you! I was really sad cuz the Vanilla Creme was my favorite and Giant Eagle (grocery store) is discontinuing that flavor. I'm gonna check out the Cookies n' Cream!
  19. Kelly I got banded May 13 2010 and I am 28. So far, I'm VERY glad I made this decision! I couldn't go on doing what I was doing to my body and keep gaining weight! Good luck with your surgery Kelly!
  20. Good luck Lace! If you get nauseous, vomit, or spike a temp, I'd go to he ER. EVerything is probably fine. Our bodies have been through alot. Good luck with your ultrasound! Keep us posted!
  21. Amy- I'm glad you told me the Cookies n' Cream is good cuz I was going to try it and didn't! Tish- I got it from Giant Eagle, which I'm sure is not in Indiana. I pretty sure you can get them online too. Bandmom and Kimaly- There are 4grams of carbs per can Good luck everyone! Have a great day!
  22. Hey guys! I needed to grab a protein shake at the grocery store because I left mine at home. I tried the Pure Protein shake brand..Vanilla Creme to be exact and it was really good! I have been looking for a good protein supplement and was excited that this one tasted good (to me anyways ). It has 100 calories, 21grams protein, and 0.5 grams of fat. :tongue2:
  23. I went to the ER today Lace. My right lower quad pain is from a UTI (urinary tract infection) and a small ovarian cyst. I was just relieved that it wasn't a hernia or my appendix. They put me on antibiotics. I hope your pain is getting better! Take care!
  24. If it keeps up, I would call your doctor. I'm still a little nervous cuz it isnt' going away. I'm afraid it may be my appendix. I don't have any nausea or vomiting and I don't have a temp, so I'm trying to wait it out. Gosh no, your not being gross! Trust me, I'm a nurse and I've heard it all. LOL I had a little trouble going and had to drink some juice which seems to have helped the trouble, but not the pain. If the pain keeps up and you are worried, I'd call your doctor. I'm still contemplating the ER if the pain doesn't go away. Good luck!
