  1. I was banded March 30th and had a hernia repair as well. Apparently, the hernia repair is quite common along with the band surgery. I am still on liquids and everything seems to be coming along as expected. However, I am still extremely sore in and around the port area. When does this improve? It feels like it is near my rib area and is making work very uncomfortable. It is better when I stand but doing book keeping and data entry I am sitting alot during the day. I am trying to get up and walk a bit about every hour. Also, still not sleeping well. Thanks.

  2. Hello~My name is Tammy. I am a newbie here. I have read sooooooo many posts from this site. Post-op and Pre-op! I have found so much wonderful advice.

My lap band is going pretty good. I have a lot of gas, especially at night, but it's not too bad. My biggest worry is that my incision is oozing this bloody liquid and the skin around it is very red and warm. The Doc says this is common but I don't feel too good about it. Anyone else had this problem?

Hey Tammy, I'm new also. My name is Melonie and I was banded March 30th. I am bruised and have some red areas with just a small amount of drainage. Today is the first day I have been hungry and also my first day back to work. My stomach has growled all day. Can't wait for some cottage cheese or something thicker than Protein shakes and Soups.

  3. Sigh...thanks everyone. Unfortunately I got the call today. My insurance denied me. :(

Don't give up! I was denied three times and finally was assisted by Lindstrom Obesity Advocates and was approved about 2 weeks ago. I was banded last Wednesday, March 30th. I met all the guidelines and criteria set forth by my insurance plan. I think insurance companies want you to give up. The first two denials were asking for additional medical documentation that was previously provided and the third denial stated it was for cosmetic reasons, even though my BMI was above 40.

  4. I was banded today and every time I sip on Water, immediately I'm sick. Will it get better?? Hopefully tomorrow, since I will be eating a little bit more, that will make me feel better. How many onces of liquids should I have tomorrow and it is every hour??? My book isn't every clear on that.

I was in your shoes! I was banded Wednesday and was sick all night long. Just the smell of my husband and daughter's food was making me sick. Called the docs office first thing the next morning and had some anti-nausea meds called in. They worked great. They told me to try to sip on crushed ice and about 2 ounces of approved Fluid every 2 to 3 hrs. I hope you are feeling better. What a difference a day or two will make.
