  1. How can I tell if my port flipped?? I'm 6 wks post op. I'm going in tomorrow for my first fill and now I'm getting myself worried that my port flipped. I could feel the port before and it was right side up. Now it seems to be on its side, but the side that faces outward is the side thats larger. Let me know if I'm wrong but they can only use the needle to fill from one side of the port and that's the side that is a little smaller in dimension right?

  2. I know this will be one of those posts that ppl will be thinking TMI, but I don't know where else to go to. So here it is..I was banded 7/13 tues and I haven't gone to the bathroom yet. It's been 5 days, is this normal? Any suggestions on if I should take a stool softner or just wait it out a few more days.

Also off the subject of that Im starting to feel better and my hunger seems to be increasing..is it normal to feel hungry all the time? my doc has me on a full liquid diet so just cream of wheat, oatmeal, cottege cheese, pudding, yogurt, CIB's all that good stuff but the diet guidelines he has his patients follow is saying only have 1/2 cup cream of wheat, 4oz of yogurt ect. I dont have restriction yet, but it just doesnt seem to be enough. It's not just head hunger either, I wait it out, drink some fluids for a while see if the hunger pains go away and they're still there? any suggestions for this? I don't want to be eating more than he wants me to bc I don't want my stomach to stretch.

    thanks for the help!

  3. soooo...random question that just came up, i'm not on birth control because they didnt want me to be on it for 2 months before surgery. i'm having my lap band surgery this tues 7/13 so in 2 days!!! Of course at this wonderful time, my monthly friend came, any one have any thoughts or had this happen to them? can they still do the surgery? i've looked it up online, and i got mixed answers some saying yes, some saying no they might have to bump back my surgery date. i've been waiting for this surgery for like 2 months now..i can't bump it back..so im a little concerned.

  5. I wouldn't worry about the jp drain not draining a lot. I'd call your surgeon just to see what they think. I work at a hospital and I think if they removed the other one because it wasn't draining enough I'm sure they'll remove the other one soon if that one too isn't draining much more. Hope your surgery went well. Best of luck!

  6. Hi fellow Banders and about to be Banders. I was banded on 4/21/10 and have lost 27 pounds to date. Had my second fill 6/2/10 3 cc each time. I do not feel much restriction at this time. Sometimes it does feel like some foods get stuck and I have to stop eating. My surgeon was great, but I sort of feel that I was left in the dust. The only things that I have gained from MD support is to really chew the food and dont drink while eating. Not drinking while eating is actually the hardest habit to break since the banding. Has anyone else found not being able to drink while eating a difficult task?? I do at times get down on myself as I think I am still eating too much. It was easier for me to stick to the liquid diet pre-op. I dont know many people who have had the band that I am close with to gain support. My boyfriend is wicked supportive, but loves to eat. I am glad that there is such a message board for us to band together....pun intended.

I'm not banded yet, and not that this will really help you much now but maybe for other ppl that are reading this..i'm supposed to be banded in july but anyway, ive already started to not drink with my meals, its hard..I don't do it all the time, but i'm starting to so its something i can get in the habit of and at my pre op class they said you can have a small sip or two but just not a whole glass. just a little tip for ppl...start preparing yourself ahead of time.

  7. Hello all~

I'm not banded yet, but I have a surgery date! I was really hoping to be banded by june 22 but my surgeon was soo booked up so I have to wait til July 13th.. :-( He had told me I could do it the 22nd so I was pretty set on that, and now I'm kinda bummed that it wont be happening til the middle of July. I went to my first pre-op class tonight and everyone there has their surgery for June 22nd...I was just thinking oh come on! seriously.

I've been thinking about surgery for about 8 months now, and just this last month or so I've been getting everything ready for it. It's not close enough to the date that I'm nevous yet, but I am excited but like I said bummed that I have to wait til July..it seems like a FOREVER wait!

Anyway...I dont have too much weight to loose, so I'm hoping within a year I can be at my goal wt...so this time next year it'll be summer again and I'll be looking good! :Dancing_biggrin: haha Whats everyone think about loosing 85lbs in a year? Good goal?

  8. Hello all~

I'm still in the beginning stages of everything. I'm hoping to have the surgery sometime in June. I'm meeting with the surgeon tomorrow, which I am nervous about. I have the last part of the psych eval at the end of this week. After that I have two pre-op classes to attend and then I'll just be waiting for a date!

I've been overweight my whole life, I've been considering the lap band for over 7 months and I'm ready for a permanent change! I'm ready to let my true self come out and live life!

Right now I don't have any questions or anything, but I just wanted to put it out there that I'm new and I'm interested in hearing about peoples experiences that have or are going to be banded. :w00t:
