teh ericka, I am on the same diet as you. Like you said this week isn't bad, but next week is going to be murder. I'm right with you with a "talking stomach", but liquids in, liquids out. My doctor said I can take some Immodium as needed, which is nice! I am only down 3 lbs, but "yay!" to that!! Keep up the good work! Suzette

Is it true? No Drinking From A straw
settebee replied to Ibejjo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is true! I just got done from my final visit with the surgeon, blood work, egk, etc, and yes they said no straws. I was shocked too. I'm sorry. They said it causes air bubbles in your small tummy and will stretch your little stomach. Good luck! :biggrin0: -
Mind over Matter: Day 2 on liquids...
settebee replied to vanishingvixen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm with ya!! I'm on day 3 three. Not too bad really, but def head hunger. When I want real food, I just sip on my propel water, and it curves my "hunger pain". Good news tho, I've lost three pounds in these past three days! Haha! :biggrin0: Good luck to you! -
I've only cheated twice with one french fry and one Dorito. Haha. My surgery is scheduled for the 20th at 5AM!

Anyone with small children?
settebee replied to Samma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Samma Ditto! Same here! My son is the biggest reason why I'm having this surgery. I lost my mom due to a massive heart attack when she was 50 and I was 18. I look at my son and think, "I only have my son for 16 more years?" With all my family history problems, I did not want to play "repeat", so that's why I was like, enough! I always struggled with my weight from 8 yrs old and now 27. I have done every diet known to mankind, and after reading tons and tons or info, I decided to go with the sleeve. Good luck to you and your journey, and I'll def keep you posted! :cursing: -
Anyone with small children?
settebee replied to Samma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Samma, I too like you have a wild, full of energy 2 1/2 year old! I am worried to see how he will act. I am sleeved the 20th and between now and then I'm just "training" my son he can't jump all over mommy right now. So far so good. Instead of me holding/picking him up, I'll just lay with him or he's sit next to me and we'll read or play that way. Normally I'm his playground, lol, but good luck! :cursing: Suzette -

PreOp Diet tips or encouragement
settebee replied to iegal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! Yeah, I'm on day 2! Not too bad, just finding it hard to get down 2 protein shakes, 64 oz of water and a small meal! I am so full now with all of my stomach! How am I suppose to do it when I have a "pint size" tummy? I did cheat; I had one french fry and one dorito. Good luck to everyone!! :thumbup1: -

Ooooohhhh: Signin' my [fat] life away!
settebee replied to vanishingvixen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay! I go next week to sign my "fat away"! I love your sense of humor. That's how I felt when I got my upper GI in June. One second I was standing, then two seconds later on my back flopping like a fish out of water, but I'm sure it's all worth it! When is your surgery date? Good luck to you!! -
I'm actually still waiting to be sleeved :scared0:, but if it was me, I'd call my pcp's office. Better safe then sorry. Since you have had a leak, I'd be super cautious too. I'm crossing my fingers for you that it's nothing serious!
-
Trust me, it's frustrating to go through all the hoops and be denied! It just happened to me. I filed for an appeal and playing the waiting game. Good luck to you!
-
I would at least call your pcp's office and ask to speak to one of the nurses to see if they think you should come in. I'd of course tell them about being sleeved. I hope you get to feeling better.

So mad at my PCP *vent alert*
settebee replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry you had to go through that! People are such jerks sometimes! I hope you have a better day! And girl, file the compliant! Let them hear you until the sun comes up! Good luck! -
Michelle, P.S. Congrats on being able to get your sleeve!! :biggrin2:
-
Michelle, Thanks for the inside, but make sure I have this right. You recommend I contact my HR dept and ask to speal to benefits who handles the the insurance claims and ask them if they could over approve my appeal? Thanks for your help in advance. Suzette

Hi all! I was denied by Aetna due to "lack of weight history". I submitted my weight from 07, 08 and this year; not much has change. I went to my gym and had them type up a letter stating my weight from 09. I hope that works! My question is: how long does it take to hear back from your appeal? I'm super nervous! Thanks for your help in advance. :lol0:
-
Hey! I'm in the same boat as you guys! I too was lacking weight records. I had weights from 07 and 08, and I was denied just yesterday. My BMI is too higher than 50 and still that wasn't good enough. I went to my gym and had the manager type me a letter with my starting weight from August of 09. I hope it works! Just be sure if you have documents from your gym that it's typed in their letterhead! Good luck! I know it's frustrating. My appeal will take up to 30 days with Aetna! Wish me luck! :001_smile:

I am going through the same problem. I didn't have my weight or bmi documented for 2009, but I ended up going to my gym and asked them to type a letter on their letterhead stating my weight during that time. Maybe you could do that or pull together logs of you weight and weight loss during that year? I hope this helps a little. :001_tt2: Good luck!
