  1. I didn't have any cc's put in at surgery and I get fills every 2-4 weeks. I am also a self pay. I'm not sure how it works with insurance. I also wanted to report that I've lost 7 lbs since last saturday when I got the fill!!! I am so excited. At this point I dont really care I haven't been able to eat like I used to. I think it was all psychological. Last night I was able to eat a little salmon and spinach... not my normal 1/2 cup of food but I'm eating my Vitamins and doing Protein shakes... So I think I'm getting my nutritional needs met. I'm just so happy to see the scale moving again after a 2 month stall. I only have 30 more lbs to go. I am so thankful for this forum, since I decided to not tell anyone except for my husband that I had the surgery. Thanks for listening and your responses!

  2. I eat 1/2 a cup 3x a day. My Dr. gave me a bunch of handy measuring tools that I've even taken out to eat. You would be surprised what you can fit in half a cup! Keep in mind you want to fill it with your Protein 1st and make that the majority of your 1/2 cup. Then put in your fruits and veggies. Sometimes if I need a snack I'll eat some fat free low cal yogurt. Usually for Breakfast I do drink a Protein shake with 2% milk (skim is too nasty for me) and I add in fresh fruit and ice to make a smoothie! I am finally at the right restriction to where this keeps me full and I'm finally getting over my brain hunger.

Also it is really helpful to plan your menus out and stick to them. Sometimes your so hungry and you load your plate up with EVERYTHING!!! I had this prob in my 1st 2-3 months when I didn't feel much restriction.

Another helpful is is MyFitnessPal (an app on my Droid powered phone.) I can input what I'm eating and the amount of exercise and it calculates it for me. Most days I do well to stay at my 1200 calorie a day goal. Best of Luck :)

  3. Thanks for the suggestions. This was my 4th fill since May... I'm still having problems with mushies and even soup! I hope I stay in the green zone, I think I'm still in the psychological stage of feeling I need the food and wanting it... Oh well I hope I lose! I was banded May 4th, 2010 and I've lost 38lbs to date, but I haven't seen the scale move much in 2 months especially with my all inclusive trip to Mexico. Lol.

  4. I only told my husband... I didn't want ANYONE at working knowing, so my doctor wrote on plain prescriptions for my FMLA paperwork. I am happy with this choice. I like talking to people on here and my dr has a support group on Thursdays. I really don't feel the need to confide in someone who really doesnt understand what I'm going thru, ya know? Best Wishes on your upcoming surgery :scared2:

  5. I am almost 2 months post-op and I've only had 1 thing get stuck so far, but then again I only have 2cc in my band. It's kinda scary I wont lie. With me I just felt like I needed to get it up, and swallowing didnt help because it gave me a panic feeling... And the sliming comes with it... I just spit a lot and really didnt get a lot out...after about 10 mins I felt sooooo much better. My dr reccommends pineapple juice mixed with a teaspoon of meat tenderizer. I didn't have to use it, but i keep it handy. Good luck!

  6. I had surgery on 05/04/10 and got a 1cc fill about 2 weeks ago. I really don't feel that much of a restriction and haven't had any food get stuck. BUT while I was sitting waiting on my fill I heard all these horror stories about different foods getting stuck...as soon as I left I went and got some pineapple juice and meat tenderizer. This supposedly will help food that stuck get broken up and go down... My QUESTION is...Will I know instantly when food gets stuck? I'm scheduled for a fill this Weds and I'm really scared about having too much restriction. Thanks everyone! :(

  7. i on the other hand hv not been doing so good. I go for my first fill today and i am scared i may hv already stretched my pouch! it sucks!

Keep ur fingers crossed that it is all in my head! I hv no restriction yet so idk.. maybe it is all in my head.

i wake in the middle of the night with this deep hallow feeling in my pouch! IT HURTS! I dont eat past 6pm... idk if this is hurting me or helping me. I dont feel much difference in my clothes

im not doubting my band.. i just dont think im using it correctly....

    any advice?

Did your doctor see on the xray machine today if your pouch is ok? My dr made me do a barium swallow and i saw all of my band and pouch... Hopefully you will feel restriction with your fill. I'm scheduled to go back in 2 weeks for my 2nd fill... Good luck!

  8. I was banded on May 4th... I'm down 21lbs and had my 1st fill of 1cc today... It wasn't bad at all and didnt hurt! I also got released with not restrictions. 24 Hr Fitness here I come! I'm back on clear liquid diet today, full liquid tomorrow, soft foods 3rd day and regular diet on 4th day. I was also told by some people in the office that if I get something stuff to mix pineapple juice with meat tenderizer and drink it... I guess the enzymes break it up? Anyway, good luck everyone!

  9. I just had some cream of broccoli Soup, strained of course. think I overdid it because I am miserable. I feel so bloated right now. I had maybe 1/2 cup if that.

I was banded on May 5th... My dr suggests eating 1/4 cup every 3 hrs... EAT! Do not let yourself get hungry because you will eat more and throw up or feel miserable for about an hr. I'm in a soft food diet and i seem to be doing well with tuna salad. No hunger pains! I've lost 16lbs since my surgery and I'm feeling pretty good. Good luck! :w00t:

  10. I was on Clear Liquids the 1st 3 days after surgery and then got moved to full liquids... I will be on those til this Thursday (10 days post op). I went to my local sushi place and got some onion Soup. It has been very filling for me. I also like the broccoli and cheese soup from quizno's. I usually eat 1/4 cup cream of wheat in the morning, a Protein Shake, 2oz of soup and a jell-o (spread out over the day). I've been very full and I've lost 14lbs in 8 days! :) Good luck!!
