Hi, Every doctor is different? Your BMI is so low he might not be to concerned. My Dr. wanted me to lose 20-25 lbs. because I have 125 lbs. excess weight. I've seen all different scenarios. My date is June 30th so we'll be going thru this together.!!!! Good Luck, Carol D'

Hi, Welcome:smile2:!! I too am 60 with very similar health issues, joint & back pain. Plus diabetes!! Married with Golden Retriever Cassie. I live 25 miles outside of Boston. My lap-band date is June 30th. I can't wait. 5' 6" was 275 now 260. You will meet the Weight & BMI requirements. and you have the other Co-morbidities. The insurance may have their own weight loss requirements. Call them and ask them to get all the info sent to you or were to find that info online. Let me know how it goes. This site has very nice people willing to share all their info and help. I also go to the Sixties forum to relate to people my own age. Good Luck, CarolD':smile2:

    June Bandsters

Hi Jennifer, I have been using Dymatize Whey Protein Isolate. I mailed away for mine but have seen it at GNC and Whole Foods. Rich Chocolate, Gourmet Vanilla and Cafe Mocha are my favorites. They mix easy and taste GREAT!! I Mix with 1% milk and will switch to skim during my Pre-op 2 weeks & post-op. Maybe we'll meet at Faulkner Support group?? Good Luck, Carol D'

    June Bandsters

Hi Junies, My date just got moved up to June 30th  from July 7th. I've been drinking 2-3 shakes a day and one healthy meal (low fat protein, a salad & 1/2 C. carbs + 2 Fruit servings a day) It has shrunk my stomach alot. I've lost 15 lbs. slowly since Jan. I wanted to try different Shakes and Protein drinks to find which ones I liked. I had to see a Dietician in Feb. so she suggested the above. Good luck June bandsters. We need to help each other as much as possible  I will have to start Protein shakes 2 weeks before surgery:rolleyes2:. Carol D'
  7. Nean, Your health is not a joke and I'd let him know it. All you're asking for is a little support. Then you are going to go in your room or take a ride or a walk. Stick up for yourself!! You are going to do this!! I'm sure this is the hardest time just post-op. BE Strong!! We're behind you. I'm hoping you'll be there when I need your help:smile2:? Carol D'

  10. Hi, Ask your brother, family and friends to not bring that food around for you to smell or see. He can eat in his room or out. Please be strong. You've come too far!! Carol D'
  11. I am 5 weeks pre-op. I started mourning my best friend "FOOD" a couple weeks ago. I decided to talk to a therapist to discuss my life long love affair with food. I know I'm going to go thru the same cravings:scared2: but I will fight like hell to stay with the program. We have to remember FOOD has ruled our lives long enough. My health has been ruined by Food. Now we all want to feel better!!! We are here to support each other. Please hang in there everyone!!
  12. Wow, that must be a surprise???. They say things happen for a reason. This way the baby will not be lacking nutrition. I'm sure you can eat very healthily and not put excess weight on. Have a healthy baby:smile2:!!! You'll just have to try again next year. Best of Luck, CarolD'

  15. Have the sleep study done. I didn't think I had sleep apnea but I had severe apnea. Also they won't tell you but you might have to put on weight. I know that's insane but you're 5-10 lbs. too light. The deposit might be re-embursed if you don't meet the requirements, but do make sure of that before you pay!!
