  1. Got my first ever brand-new bike - just for me and am having so much fun riding around the neighborhood! I had not ridden in about 40 years, so if I can do it any body can. I am having trouble recognizing me in pictures - I was always the heaviest one but not now. I love my band and my new life, though I would like to get work done on mysaggy stomach, breasts and arms, so now I'm starting to save for that kind of work.

  2. Today is the 10 month anniversary of my band and I love it! Met my mid-range goal unofficially today by being under 200 lbs for the first time in 34 YEARS, also met my added personal goal by doing by my 50th bday next week!. I say officially because I don't go back for fill/check until 2 March.

I don't read or post much - but am not sitting at computer all the time like I used to do. I feel like I am living life rather than just observing life.

  3. I was banded on May 7 - because I was so out-of-shape, I have started slowly, doing little things to help build up my activity level. Parking further away, window shopping, working more in the yard are some of things I have done to increase my activity level.

I also do exercises in my swim spa now up to about 30 minutes at a time 4-5 times a week, because I do have more energy.

I still have my computer time tho. lol

  4. There are also plenty of people with gastric bypass that do not lose weight - I had gastric bypass in 1994. Lost about 20 pounds that's all but I did manage to stay within the same 5-10 lbs for about 10 years (i had never stayed the weight over time, it was always lose some, gain more back, etc.)

After the ten years, i added 5-10 each year all the way back to 290. It did cure me of the eating sweets and sugary liquids (dumping syndrome), but I could eat bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes with no problem - I had no restriction when I ate, things just flowed right thru.

I was banded in May and feel as if I have been given a new chance. So for me - the band is the best way to go!

  5. Got my first fill today since being banded on May 6, found that I have larger band rather than smaller one, but no problems at all with fill itself.

My surgeon puts the port in the shoulder area on left side, near the underarm area - I guess that makes it easier than in stomach or abdomen area.

Will be liquids today/tomorrow, but regular food after - before fill had no problem with chicken, steak, pork (except I could eat too much) and didn't stay full long. I'm not complaining about journey so far, just hoping it gets easier.

  6. I was banded on May 6, have lost about 12 lbs since then. Am having trouble sticking to the 1-2 ounce portions - am hungry most of the time and not having any trouble eating. Also having trouble with drinking slowly - have not mastered the 5 minutes per ounce.

First fill is Jun 17 - on the bright side, I am drinking plenty of Water and eating much more healthier than before with no cravings for sweets.
