  1. Well today is my day 11 and I did the full liquid thing for a week and then bagged it as of Saturday, I couldn't stand it anymore! My shakes were making me nausea and I could hardly choke a whole 8 oz down. So since I handled "food" so well I figured I would just feel out and see where I got. i have been doing clear broth which I love and yogurt. Soft foods and I know when I am feeling full, which is a great feeling. I have the same head over stomach issues...I go to the grocery store and walk thru the bakery and my nose smelles all the yummy foods and I just have to walk faster to the fish isle..lol I have lost 12 pounds so far, which is almost scary for me, that seems like a lot to me. I haven't noticed any difference but I see me every day. I have been very tired. I realized yesterday, I haven't had caffeine in 10 days either which may be part of it. who knows. But so far so good!!:thumbup::rolleyes::thumbup::rolleyes::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

  2. Well, I have to say, I spoke a little too soon :-) Late last night, I felt really sore so I did take the pain meds, I wanted to make sure I slept well. And I took some this morn. as well. You're right about staying ahead of your pain. But still no shoulder pain or any gas pain.

Not hungry but I want to eat (that's my brain talking), I guess this is the beginning of thinking differently. I am looking forward to eating a little something of more substance tomorrow. Clear liquids for two days after and then two weeks of full liquids.

I'm staying hydrated with veg. broth, Isopure, tea, and Water. I have a big shot glass for mixing drinks and I'm drinking from that for my 2 to 3 ounces.

I also brought out the heating pad and found that very helpful.

My brother got banded in August so he's been a good source of advice. He's lost 55 pounds and has never had a fill yet!

    Thanks for your support.

I was right there with ya, banded the day before you and felt almost the exact same way but I kept the pain meds coming, to scared to feel the pain..lol! So how are you doing now???

  3. ha ha I would say in your belly but Texas isn't that big..lol yeah mine is in the same spot and why all this time was I thinking that it was going to be like way lower? Maybe because I am so short? Mind you I am a whopping 4'8.5(I had to get a wavier to get in the Army). So yeah I was really thinking this bad boy was gonna be like closer to my little hip but oh no it's all up in my ribcage if I don't sit up straight, which is something else I have definitely learned to sit up straight(again), like I've been out for soo long..lol

  4. I'm laughing at sucking the salt off the fry. I can't hardly get my meal replacements down (3x/day), but I HAD to taste an olive the other day and literally sucked the thing to a little shriveled mess! Need salt! LOL.

I am right there with ya sister!!! As my madre fusses at me "you're going to have a tummy ache!" But I suck that thing slam dry to a shriveled bit of green nothingness. I feel content for a good half a day..lol

I drove by Mickey D's today and was all alone, oh did their sweet t scream my name, I drove faster...damn cops made me slow down..lol here in Corpus Christi its the annual City fund raiser otherwise known as Memorial Day Weekend and i have Illinois Plates, "Em' Y'all Yankee's like drivin fast round here like it nascar er sumthin" and yes that's exactly how Barney Fife sounded....I was like OMG! I thougt I was in Texas in back woods Alabama or something...lol

SO yeah How bout them Olives!!

  5. I just read your blog and you inspired me, so maybe we can keep up wit each other the Mcdonalds trip got me cause girl ida sucked every last bita salt off that fry...ha ha! I can't seem to get enough of salt since I have started any of this mess. It's got me in all kinds of a tissy!

  6. Ok so I totally cheated and am going straight to lapband hell!! Just sayin..lol I did the first full week of clear liquids but then Saturday night came and the then came the cook out and I smelled it chicken and ribs with fajita seasoning. My neighbor made them just the way i love them and I cracked like an old dried out tree branch. Plus the fact that I was starving to the point of utter crabbiness!

But in my defense, I did very good. While I wanted to gobble up a rack of ribs alone I ate first 1 chicken wing. and I chewed it to an nice soft puree, enjoying every bit of it's juiciness, and I waited about 20 minutes and then i had 1 rib and again I chewed it to death, it was so good in my mouth i was afraid to swallow...lol and I waited another 20 minutes and then i had a small piece of corn about 3 rows wide, no salt no butter and didn't finish because I felt "It", The "IT" that I have been looking for for so long....fullness and it let me tell you was amazing!!! I was happy and not stuffed or feeling sick.

So maybe I go to lap band hell but i'll go happy...lol

Y'all have a great and safe Memorial Day Weekend! and if ya get a chance thank a Soldier or two! I miss mine!!

  7. Ok so let me get this straight, it's not on your port side right but the other side? Does that make since to you, my daughter just looked at me like I was speaking Greek, thus I asked. I am only like 9 days post op and I am already noticing that my belly swells when I eat. But don't go 10 to 12 h without drinking mama, getting dehydrated will make you sick and yeah it's just bad for business. It is most importante that you stay hydrated at all times the weight will come off. You should also consult your Dr asap to get his/her professional dx in the situation to be sure that there hasn't been any slippage or any thing because that's not good either. I am sure it's an easy fix, maybe just some manual manipulation but better to be safe you know! Let me know how it all works out!

  8. I was banded on the 21st of May and had my first bm on the 28th. I first discovered Japanese clear broth, let me say I love the Japanese and their broth, it tasted better than anything I had consumed since my surgery and it made me poo. Oh did it get my bowels moving...I think I had back up from who knows when hiding in there. and literally pardon the phrase but No Sh*$ I got on the scale today and I haven't been on since my surgery date and my weight was 194 on date of surgery and it's 183 soooo, yeah..now I know why the Japanese are skinny, 5 calories in that broth. Ha ha!:w00t::cool::cursing:

  9. The gas pain has sucked and the meds haven't seemed to help as much as the walking did but I haven't tried the gas x yet either. I had my surgery yesterday so I can only say that since i have been home my biggest wish is that I could burp and get my soar throat to go away and get the phlegm out of my chest and throat. Coughing is not so comfortable I keep a pillow over my belly to help with it. I also had a hernia fixed. But really other than that I haven't had any major pain, none that I am debilitated by anyways! Which is a blessing.[link=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wCQgVQ0/]

  10. I started this process in Texas in March. I saw the Nutritionist and the Psychologist on April 30th. Was approved on May 4th then started my shakes on May 7th in preparation for my May 21st Surgery.

I saw Dr Carcamo on May 20th for my pre-op and it was so easy. I reported to the Nix Hospital on the 21st for my surgery at 0530 and it went great from then on. Everyone form the nurses to the Anesthesia was just amazing! Words cannot express my gratitude for everyone that I came in contact with at the Nix Hospital and the South Texas Surgeons Group. They were simply all AMAZING!!:thumbup::smile::thumbup::o

I am home now and I feel great! I did stay over night as my insurance required that I do so. I was up and walking around about an hour after I came out of recovery, The primary pain that I felt was in my chest and upper back between my shoulder blades and my left shoulder, I was told that this was from the CO2 that had pumped into my stomach. Other than that as long as I am taking at least an anti inflammatory I am fine. I have been trying to stay away from the narcotics as much as possible because I hate the feeling but I am doing great thus far.:thumbup::thumbup::w00t::laugh: I am on the road to recovery and can't wait to start losing weight!!!!
