  1. Hi again everyone, just checking in, I don't post much but I do like to read the threads everyday. Thank you to everyone for all the great information. I am going to try and make the point west support group this saturday, will be nice to meet some of you I have a question, is the surgeon and pych consult and case manger appointment the only required appointments? or are there more you have to go through before surgery? Thanks
  2. Thanks Ali, I have been looking on Amazon but just not sure which book to get, I will try the obesityhelp.com I sure hope you feel better soon !!!!
  3. Thanks so much everyone for your suggestions and encouragement, it really helps.. have a couple of questions if anyone has time.. I am getting a little tired of tuna, chicken & egg salad, I am not a very imaginative cook... does anyone know of a good high protien low carb cookbook? also I heard someone mention a support group that meets at the point west location.. does anyone know when the next one is and the time? It is really close to my work thanks Sherri
  4. Hi again everyone, Glad to hear most everyone had a nice Mother's Day. Just checking in, I had my surgeon consult today with Dr. Fisher. It was possitive and negative at the same time. I like him but he has doubts that I can keep off the weight after surgery :-( and he was not impressed that i cut my Diet Pepsi from 6-10 cans to 1-2 in 6 days. He believed If I was serious about making changes and getting the surgery I would have quit cold turkey. I am serious so his words kind of stung. I do understand he reasoning though I suppose. I am going to try and be free from diet pepsi and carbonated drinks by the end of this week. I was also given my pre op weight loss goal--10 lbs I was surprised it was not more, if I keep to the Meal plan I could be having the surgery quite sooner than I thought. I am still considering the sleeve over the band, so anyone who has had the sleeve and has any information to share I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for listening... Sherri
  5. thanks ali, appreciate the support. I have a question about the sleeve.. is it true that you no longer experience "physical Hunger" ?
  6. Hi again everyone, I had my orientation today in vacaville, I have my surgeon appoinment next monday the 10th. I was given Dr. Fisher, does anyone have any feedback on this Dr? He was at the orientation but really could not get a read from him. and I have to make one quick vent.. why do they use chairs with arms when they know they are going to have a room full of large people.. sigh... it was a very long day. lots of information though, still not sure if the band or the sleeve is right for me. It is exciting and scary all at the same time. starting the "meal plan" tomorrow wish me luck
  7. Thanks ALi, Chrissy, & Heather for getting back to me and thanks to everyone else on here.. its nice to know you guys are there to help with questions and concerns. 8. Hi Yes Im new... found this forum as I was researching information on the lapband. thanks for letting me know they do the sleeve, do you know if choosing the sleeve increases your wait for surgury? or is it about the same? Sherri
  9. Hi everyone I have my orientation next tuesday may 4th at the vacaville kaiser. I was lead to believe from the 2 hr overview class that kaiser does not do the gastric sleeve yet. My appointment is through Kaiser Richmond. Can anyone tell me if they will do the sleeve? I was leaning towards the band but if the sleeve is available I would definately consider it. would love any input, thanks so much sherri  anyone else here going to the orientation on the 4th?
