Newly banded, few questions
someuser replied to someuser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all your responses. I've noticed that I really haven't eaten anything the last few days since my surgery. I was really nauseated the first and second day and since then I try and force myself to drink a Protein shake but then I just don't realize that I haven't eaten all day and it's already time to go to bed. I don't know if I'm just hating the fact that I'm sick of Protein shakes and chicken broth, or if I'm actually not really all that hungry. I am going to try and force myself to eat some more protein at least. Has anyone else just didn't feel like eating after the surgery? Thanks again. -
I am having my surgery tomorrow morning and for some reason I am less worried now than I was the last few days. It's nice to have people around to support me. I just hope I've done all the right things to help the surgery go by smoothly. I haven't cheated on my pre-op diet and I've been taking all my vitamins, drinking LOTS of water and just trying to keep myself stress free. There are moments I think about the pain and recovery but I know it will all be worth it.

Oh yea and Nectar also has an unflavored version which is good to mix in soups and other things. It dissolves quite nicely with no chunks in room temp, or cold water, but if you put it straight hot liquids it will clump and taste like cheese. If I had it to hot liquids, I will typically dissolve it in room temp or warmish liquids first.

I personally love protein shakes, but I found another type of protein supplement which is almost like juice, called nectar. I found a sample pack at Fitness Connection. I like the Lemon Tea and Crystal Sky flavors, but Nectar has multiple flavors to choose from.

I'm on the 7th day of the liquid pre-op diet. I have 3 more days to go! I am feeling a little more hungrier today than other days, and I spoke with my dietitian and she said I could have maximum of 80g of carbs and 20g of fat, total. I was limiting myself to 20g carbs and 10g fat. No wonder I don't have any energy. I would increase the intake but I only have 3 days left so I might not, and I'm worried it'll make my liver too large. But I'm also worried I may be ruining it for myself by only consuming 500 calories... like my body will get used to the lesser calories and refuse to lose weight when I get the band. I've also been reading up on horror stories regarding the band, and I'm getting worried and almost doubtful that the band will actually work for me. I really cannot imagine myself being thin, it feels like I'm just fooling myself, wishful thinking.. Well only 3 days left until my surgery, only time will tell!

Lol, love this quote. I'm also getting banded on the 28th. Good luck to you! -
I have not been banded yet, but I hope to lose at least 100lbs by this time next year. I will be working my butt off, literally!

Hello all! My surgery is scheduled for June 28th.. 3 more days  I'm pretty excited but nervous.

I bought some baby food a few weeks ago, although I haven't needed to eat it, yet. I did taste it so that when I did need to eat it, I didn't straight gag. I must admit, it was pretty disgusting, felt like I was eating cat food. However, I added a little salt and onion powder and it tasted pretty good. Still weird and mushy, but the flavor was better at least. Hope that helps!

My surgery is Monday June 28th, 2010. I'm currently on Day 6 of the liquid Pre Op diet. 3 months prior, I met with Dr. Sunil Bhoyrul for the first time. He said he was going to do everything in his power to help me and get me ready for my new life. He wanted me to first lose 40lbs. I pushed really hard, working out 3 days a week, eating healthy-ish meals, smaller portions. May 21st I received the call that I was Approved for the Lap Band. I then had to start the 2 week liquid Pre Op diet. I knew I could do it, since I already conditioned myself the last 3 months, but I also knew that I would have those hard times. Surprisingly enough, it hasn't been that bad. I'm rarely hungry and I pretty much only drinking chicken broth, protein shakes, and LOTS of water. My surgery is in 5 days, I'm getting nervous but also excited. I hope everything goes well and I'm not in too much pain.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
someuser replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm currently on Day 6 of the pre op liquid diet. I have not cheated nor felt like it, but I did take a bite of chicken, chew it up and spit it out.. felt so good to chew! -

I was only actually drinking one a day in addition to all the other things you mentioned minus the Optifast. I thought I might be doing something wrong, because I'm only getting about less than 500 calories. Thanks for letting me know.

Wow! This is exciting to hear, although I know it's different for everyone. I just started my pre op diet and on my 4th day. Doesn't seem too bad but only because for the last few months I've been kind of training myself to get used to what's to come. I was wondering, since this diet is essentially to reduce the size of the liver by cutting out carbs, I have a Bariatric Advantage High Protein Meal Replacement which has 8 carbs, is this not good to use during this diet?
