    All of a sudden, I'm a wimp?

You know, this is funny because I just had this same conversation with my husband... Since surgery almost 2 months ago -- he has been acting like I am going to break. He is on top of my food and if I need anything. If I have a headache, he is worried... This was never the case before. This morning we both went to the gym and I was able to go on elliptical for an hour (first time ever).. Well, when I got off my legs felt like Jello. That's all.. Nothing to be alarmed about and he made me sit down and breathe. Went to get me a glass of Water, and was frightened... When all I probably needed was to walk it out.. lol I appreciate the "extra" care but at the same time I do get frustrated because I am very independent and don't want this to always be the case. We'll see what happens.

    Long Vent...- very much needed..

Thinoneday, I can relate. My mom engraved in our brain since we were little that there were not such things as friends and the only people you have are family. But, to be honest, I have some really great friends (I can count them all in one hand) and shitty family. My mom engraving this into my head made me have serious trust issues with everyone and that really did me wrong. In order to make a friend, you need to be a friend. Having said that, you also need to know when that person is really not what you need. We can have tons of acquaintances and they come a dime a dozen but real friends are few and far between. Longevity doesn't make a good friendship -- I have known some acquaintances since grade school but that is all they will ever be for me. It just took some time to realize the difference between a real friend and an acquaintance!

    Florida Sleevers!

I am in Miami, Florida and I had my sleeve with Dr. Nestor de la Cruz-Munoz at the university of miami. He is amazing. His staff is wonderful. Here is the link if you are interested: Surgical weight loss Institute |
  4. HI everyone. I am still in the hospital and everything went really well (thank you for the well wishes:) ) from pre-op to post-op everything has been awesome. I didn't have to have a drainage tube or catheter. I am awaiting my upper GI this morning. I didn't realize that I wasn't able to eat anything yesterday but miraculously enough, I wasn't hungry!! Anyways, as with everyone, I am very gassy. I started walking an hour after surgery but I have HICCUPS!! Did anyone experience this? They go away but they are really frustrating....
  5. OK. so I went to the nutritionist last week -- and besides having lost 29 pds since surgery on June 29th he was upset about my lack of Protein shakes. To be honest, I have purchased muscle milk, Iso-Pure, Monster Milk, unjury, pure protein, pure whey protein stack and a bunch of others and they all taste like medicine! I hate them, hate them, hate them. Now, did I mention that I hate them? I don't mind eating a Protein Bar every now and again but my NUT said they have saturated fat which is bad for your arteries. So, I don't know what to do. I do try to have a protein at every meal. I eat lots of cheese, yogurt, Beans.. BUT, even prior to surgery I never really ate much protein (I wasn't a vegetarian) but I also didn't have a protein daily and my BLOOD COUNT was always great. The only thing I was ever deficient on was Vitamin D. My Calcium was great (even with lack of milk and yogurt in my diet) and I never took a vitamin to save my life. I am just frustrated!!

    Frustrated...

I just placed my order too!! Can't wait!! Yes, I am very happy with my sleeve. Every now and again I get on a bandwagon but I know that this is the best thing that has ever happened to me. When others things in your life are not going well -- it is hard but I think this is the best decision I made in a long time....

    Frustrated...

Where do you get these? I would sell on ebay but once you open one of those GIANT tubs -- I feel like people would not think it is hygenic. You know? So, right now my kids are using them as stools. :sad0:

    Frustrated...

The only problem with that is if I don't like it.. I have 17 of them sitting in my house.
  13. Congrats! I can't wait to be saying the same thing!!
  14. That has happened to me once or twice. My nutritionist said that I must have over done it... AND that to remember that 4 oz is the most we could eat -- so, to try to eat less than that... It is just so hard to gauge what 4 oz is when you are out to eat. Sometimes I over due it and sometimes I don't eat enough and am hungry earlier... How do you all gauge when going out?
  15. I wish I had an answer for you but I have the same problem. I am having a hard time going... I am scared because after I had my kids I developed hemorroids and now I am afraid that they will flare if I have to make so much effort to go. My doctor told me to take citrucel to help me go.. BUT, haven't started it yet...
  16. You look awesome! What an inspiration!!:001_tongue:
  17. I am only a month out and I have to be honest... prior to surgery I was hell bent on having a boob job and a tummy tuck (here we call it a mommy lift).. Now, having had surgery to remove my gall bladder and WLS surgery, I am not sure if I want the stress of another surgery. I am my worst enemy when it comes to worrying. When I went into surgery, I left goodbye letters to my kids and a laundry list of things to do/not do for my husband. Isn't that terrible? But, writing those letters is so emotional and it is such a roller coaster of emotions prior to surgery. I don't worry about the pain -- I have had two C-Sections in the past and did really well. BUT, somehow the anguish of the potential of complications or something going really wrong worries me to no end. So, I guess it all depends on whether I am really miserable looking at myself once I have lost all the weight.. I live in the SUNSHINE STATE so, going to the beach is a part of life.. So, I guess at this point only time will tell.

On Soft Foods so ... Tomatos?

It's incredible how all dr's are different. I am allowed fruits and vegetables after a month. I asked him the reason to not having them sooner (I like to know the why behind the what) anyhow, he said that many veggies are fibrous and we don't want to risk getting an ulceration if something gets stuck. But he told me that after a month, I can eat anything as long as I am sticking to the 4 oz, Protein first, and eating every 3 hours. So, ask your dr. or NUT as their guidelines may be completely different than any of ours.

    Drainage Tube

I was concerned about this.. but as it turns out my dr. says he didn't do a drain for sleeve patients only for the RNY.. so, I am not sure...
  20. Awesome! I just ordered it! Let's see how it goes! :scared0:
  21. Has anyone tried their protein shakes? I went today to see if I can break out from the routine of my protein shake at home. I have one right next to my house... Any one had any?
  22. I was thinking about purchasing this cookbook. Is it worth it?

    Pills and Vitamins

I had the same probably with chewables... AND well, I am 30 days out and the dr gave me the green light to try a swallowed multi vitamin. I just bought one a day woman's --- i think that is what they are called and so far so good. I bought a liquid form of B12 which is only every 3 days and the calcium is by Citracal in pill form... So, I am really exited about taking them rather than chewables! Hate those!! :svengo:

    #2s after surgery?

I am about a month out and I have tried all kinds of things to go to the bathroom that have fiber.. So, yesterday I had my 4 week follow up and the dr told me I could continue to take what I took prior to surgery without a problem. It is called prunelax. I usually take them in the evening and the next day go without a problem. I had one yesterday after he gave me the "green" light and sure enough -- this morning I went!!
