I am firmly in the don't tell category. But then I have always been the type who makes all my own decisions and just do what needs to get done. I really don't care what anyone else thinks about it but I also don't want to have to discuss it ad naseum and have it be all that people think about and comment on when I run into them. My adult daughter and my 2 closest friends are the only ones who know. One friend was totally supportive and very excited, the other tried to tell me I did not need the surgery and tell me a horror story about someone else she knew that it did not go well for. But, now that it is done she is fine and just asks how I am feeling. Everyone else just thinks I went to Cancun for a week for vacation. They don't need to know that the last 2.5 days were not spent snorkeling! As I posted lots of pictures of my trip on Facebook I don't think anyone has even an inkling that the trip had two purposes. That's a really good question, I probably should call and ask, lol. I would rather go to the one up North as that is closer to me.

In my mind I have been fat from childhood. My mother put me on weight watchers before I was 10 yrs old. I was put on Nutri-System and all other manner of things and always thought of myself as fat. BUT, when I look at pictures of myself up until graduating from high school I was no more than chubby and often not even that. Frankly it makes me angry as I see it as kind of a self fulfilling prophecy. People tell you that you are too fat as a kid, they put you on diets, you start to believe you are fat, you go on and off diets and the yoyo system starts and presto chango, suddenly you are in your 40s and are 120some lbs overweight and you actually are fat now! Thanks for the reply. I will be going to Weight Loss Surgical Center. I tried Dr. Malley who someone had recommended but they said the earliest fill was in August. No way am I waiting that long for my first fill! Looking forward to getting to know some of the KC Bandsters! Windus

I had 3 very loose stitches on the larger incision that came out on their own about 5 days after surgery. The smaller ones were just glued. Windus

Hello Kansas City Bandsters! I was banded on April 23 in Cancun, Mexico and am scheduled for my first fill 2 weeks from today. I cannot wait! I live North of the River near Worlds of Fun Had my first stuck episode yesterday with a bite of chicken I apparently did not chew well enough. It hurt like hell! :thumbup: Eventually it had to come up as it was not going to go down. More than 24 hours later I still feel sore from it and ate only mushy stuff today and will do the same tomorrow if I still feel sore. Anyway, just wanted to say hello! Windus

Hello everyone! This is my first post. I was banded on 4/23/10 in Mexico with dr. verboonen. It was a great experience all around and I had an awesome vacation prior to the surgery. Anyway if it weren't for the holes in my skin I would really have no idea I had done anything at all. My band is empty and I am going to need a fill as soon as they will let me. If anyone has any recommendations on where I can get a fill in the Kansas City area please let me know. Regards. Windus
