  1. Hi all...Im about 18 months out from my lapband. Found out recently Im going to have to have my Gallbladder taken out tomorrow. Has anyone had this done after lapband? My doc has already unfilled my band :(. My Doc also states there is not any special diet to adhere to after surgery. By the way this is my lapband doc doing this surgery. Any info would be great.

  2. Hi. I have seen alot of folks looking but no replies. Quick update. I had a major stuck episode tonight from yogurt. My doc was out of town so I went to er. Outcome was im not stuck. I have major 1inch gallstones. Have to have my gallbladder out. I hear the surgery is ok. Has any had this done after lapband?

  3. Hello all..I had a really bad stuck episode about 14 days ago. Had to go in and meet Lapband Doc in ER for a total unfill. He put me on liquids for 7 days due to the intense vomitting I had. I moved onto mushy food such as yogurt, protien shakes 7 days ago. Mashed pototatoes and chili pureed still hurt my stomach. My chest also hurts when the food is going down and my uppper middle back. Kinda like a stuck episode but Im not stuck. I had a florascope done and the band is still in place. I also still seem to have alot of nausea. Have not vomited though. Doc doesnt think it is gallbladder as I dont show any symptoms of that. Has any one else gone through a really stuck episode? How long until you were feeling back to normal and eating real food again? Thanks in advance for advice.

  6. I would also say if you are not running a fever or in intense pain, vomiting or bleeding, I would wait. I was really stuck last month and the ER had no experience with LapBand at all. They even call in a senior er surgeon that could not help. I sat for 4 hours and still ended up paging my Doctor in the morning. :(. Hope you feel better soon.

  7. I too had the same fears. I had never been in the hospital for anything or even had an IV. I remember the anesthesiologist telling me I would feel some pressure in my hand and the next thing I knew I woke up in recovery. No pain either which was surprising. really the only major pain I had was shoulder pain from the gas for a few days. Best decision I ever made. Im down almost 70lbs in just under a year and still losing. Havent put a lb back on and I am super lazy with exercising so I mostly walk for about 30-40 minutes 5-6 days a week. Your going to be fine. Good Luck.

  8. I am so sorry that you do not feel support by your doctor. Support is one of my largest tools. I had to switch doctors within the last 2 months. So far the price is the same but I have bluecross. I did not have any problem finding a doctor to take me. Sometimes there is a transfer fee for your files. You may want to check on that. My last doctor actually quit his practice to take on a teaching type of position. The new doctor I found came highly recommended from this site. He has a really different style than my last doctor. He gave me his personal email address and answer any questions I have within an hour. Love it. I wish you really good luck. We are always here for your support.

  9. Tammy dont let me frighten you! Ive been banded 10 months and wouldnt change a thing. This is the first time I ever got stuck this bad. Usally it will go down in a couple of minutes. My problem is I didnt chew enough with the potato salad cause it was kinda wet.

@spoil mom what did you eat through your 2 weeks? I find im pretty gassy right now. I went and had gall bladder tests and some type of ultrasound yesterday but because I dont have a fever or stomach pain they feel it was from being stuck. The fluoroscope shows im pretty swollen. Im already doing gasx and the generic version of beano before i eat!

  10. Thanks for all the support. I will definitely get checked out for gallstones! So far I am feeling better and better. Back is still a little sore. But improving. Wondering if this was from throwing up so hard along with being stuck. I was definitely stuck! As soon as he let all that Fluid out the nausea left almost immediately.

  11. So let me begin by saying I am 10 months in and never been stuck enough to throw up. Yay me. On Saturday I had a couple of teaspoons of potato salad. (yeah i know bad choice). About two hours later I got the worse pain in my upper back. Never did I think I was stuck...I could still drink Water slowly. By the end of Saturday early Sunday I was dying with nausea and back pain. Still I can drink a little at a time. All this time I am thinking food poisoning even though no one else was sick. Monday morning I vomited a little bit but still could not eat and felt horrible. By the end of Monday night my husband is going nuts and says you gotta call your doctor its not food poisoning. Page the doctor who tells me yep your stuck stop eating and drinking come see me in the morning. I couldn't make it through the night. I call the local er and they tell me yep we can take some Fluid out. I get there and sit for 31/2 hours to find out the er doctor has no idea what to do. Well needless to say we left and drove to my doctors office were he met me early before surgery. I had 3cc taken out of the 9.5cc in band. Was able to drink just fine in office on Tuesday. Get home try a Protein Shake and some Soup no go. Right back to nausea and back pain. I had to get up early this morning and drive back to have my band totally deflated for 2 weeks. YIKES!!! On my own with no restriction. Plus Im going to New Orleans this Friday. Just had to tell someone who understood what Im going through. Only plus in all of this is I lost 4lbs. To bad that was not the way I wanted to lose it.

  12. I have this problem also. Can not eat in the morning any time. 1 cup of coffee and then a Protein Shake until my first break at work. So I am usually up for about 4 hours before I eat something solid. Protein Shakes are a life save. I am at a really good restriction right now. I have 9.5 cc in a 14 cc band. Losing slowly but steady. My doctor states most people have a hard time with solids in the am and not to worry as long as you are getting your Protein and Water in daily!!! Good luck.

  13. Congrats and welcome to the Lapband journey. I have been banded about six months and do not regret a thing. I would do it again in a heart beat. I have finally reached my "sweet spot". sweet spot = 4-5 hours between meals with out being hungry and able to only eat small portions. As long as you follow the band rules you cant help but to succeed. Good luck and keep us updated.

  14. I have also noticed a little tenderness when I do Zumba. I found that if i put on a spandex sleeveless body shirt it helps. I picked it up from kohls for less the 15 bucks. Helps keep that extra skin in also. But I will tell you make sure you get the cotton blend one. The one that is all spandex is way to hot. Good luck and congrats on NSV.
