  1. My surgery was on 4/3/13 so I am almost 3 months out. I am trying so hard to keep carbs at 40 grams a day but am finding it so difficult. For what it is worth, I started walking 3 miles every day about 2 weeks ago. Even with exercise do we still need to keep carbs at 40 grams for the whole day? My calorie intake ranges from 700-900 a day. Iv'e lost 52 pounds since surgery. I am sure i would have lost more so far if I kept the carbs at 40. I am such a picky eater too. The only protein I really eat is chicken and the shake, (30grams - premier protein shake) if I can choke it down.
  2. The liquid I had to drink for the leak test tasted like lemon - soap water!!!! YUCK!
  3. My mom and I had the same surgeon. She had a drainage tube and I didn't. Maybe it depends on what takes place during surgery????
  4. My mom and I both had surgery with Dr. Bass. We both had wonderful experiences...best wishes!
  5. YES!!! Love, love, love this book. I also got "recipes for life after weight loss surgery" by the same author. Great recommendation!
  6. I have a question about iron pills after surgery. I was prescribed iron just before surgery ( I had been taking OTC iron). My stomach killed me after taking iron before surgery...I am so scared that my stomach will hurt especially now after surgery. When I say hurt its more like constipation. Any issues?
  7. Wow!!!! Congratulations to you!! I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out myself so I haven't experienced your issues and I don't recall reading about them either. Good luck to you!!
  8. So glad someone posted my exact issue! For one, it takes me forever to fall asleep (my mind races with thoughts) and I have the craziest dreams. I will wake up from the dream and then my mind races again keeping me up for an hour or so. At first I thought it was pain meds but I stopped those two days after surgery. Both are new issues to me after surgery. I was sleeved April 3rd.
  9. Beautiful transformations!
  10. Oh no...... I was sleeved April 3rd too. I wish you the very best and a quick recovery!
  11. AMEN!!!!! I was sleeved April 3rd, still on full liquids, Tuesday I move to puréed. I can't wait for the same!
  12. My follow up apptmt is April 30th, I will be happy to post about it! Absolutely, cheers to us
  13. WOW! I was sleeved on the third as well....I have no idea what I have lost so far. I would be thrilled with your loss. Good for you.
  14. I am 7 days out today, today was the first day I was able to get 64oz Water and 60 grams of Protein in. I too had a rough go after surgery. Apparently my stomach was adhered to my spleen and there was lots of scar tissue from when I attempted to have the lap band in 2005( this surgery was aborted due to a stomach perforation) The sleeve surgery generally takes an hr or so, mine took 3 1/2 hrs. I woke up after surgery with really bad dry heaving, same issue the following morning. I thought I was good to go home and sure enough it happened at home. I called my surgeon and he called in a Rx for Zofran.....ahhhh...what a huge difference!!! Gas pain is gone. Going on short walks with my doggie and really working on protein and water. I too am having weird feelings in my belly....hunger or just wishing I could have something other than Soup, shakes, pudding? Who knows... I just keep repeating "mind over matter". LOL Best wishes!!!!
