  1. OMG, only 12 lbs to go? How wonderful for you. What amazing journey you must have had. You should write a blog and tell us all how you got to where you are now. I am so excited for you. And yes, pictures would be great. You are an inspiration. Thanks for all of your kind words. Get a blog going, I want to hear everything about your journey.

  2. Hi, Rose:

You are doing great! I am so happy for you. 38lbs since July 15 is an amazing accomplishment. Keep up the good work. I might be getting ready for my first fill, but we will see on Sunday how I weigh in. I don't keep a scale at home - I only weigh in at the gym 3-4 times a week. I'm 5'3" and have about 22 or 23 lbs, as of yesterday, to get into the onederland. I can't wait. It will have been more than 20 years for me. Have a great night and thanks for all of your wonderful comments, always.

  3. We are band sisters now because we share the same date of surgery. 2excited is also a mutual friend of mine since she is also a June 21st bandy.

To answer your medication question, my surgeon gave me liquid Hydrocodone. I only took it the night of the surgery, nothing during the day yesterday or today, but I did tkae a teaspoon to help me sleep last night. I really feel great. A little tender when I stand up and some gas, but that is really it.

Are you as excited as I am? This is the greated gift I could have given myself. My insurance did not cover anything but the nutritionist - at least that was something, right.

How are you feeling? Everyone tells me the same thing, sleep and rest - eat and sip slowly and we will come through just fine.

Keep in touch so we can follow eachother's story.

  4. I am hoping you haven't stopped coming to the site because we all need you. Like Marw asked, what happend to your photo? Please get in touch.

  5. Hi, Rose:

Thanks for the response to my blog. Don't you feel great? I am so looking forward to getting off the rest of my meds, hopefully soon. But not being diabetic any longer is amazing to me. If not for the LB, this would never have happened.

You know, I wish we all lived near eachother so we could just get together and share, laugh and inspire eachother in person. We should have a lap band convention!

Have a wonderful weekend and keep up the good work.

  6. I just looked at your progress photos and my goodness, girl you look great! You must be feeling so amazing. It shows in your face. Keep up the good work. I know how hard it is, but you are doing it!

  7. Your before and after pics are amazing. You are doing a great job. Sometimes we just need a break from things when we get really stresses and you still lost weight. Every stinking ounce is a success. So you move forward now. I hope the fill gives you the kick-start you need. Thanks for the kind words on my blog.

  8. Hey, Debra:

Where have you been? Haven't seen anyting from you lately. How are you doing? Miss ya!

  9. How are you doing? I haven't seen any posts lately, although you did respond to one of my blogs. Let us know how you are doing.

  10. Where have you been? Haven't heard anything from you for a while. I hope you are doing great!

  11. Thanks Shonette. I feel great. I wish I liked this new site, but I can seem to navigate it correctly. I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and I wish you a happy, healthy and "thin" New Year. Please keep in touch. I feel lost without my bandster friends.

  12. Thanks for the comments on my blog. I think you are an inspiration and I know you will reach your goa. Keep blogging!

  13. Hi, glad to have you as a new band-buddy.

You will be able to make the drive. If you start feeling gas or any pain, park and walk around the car a little bit. It will do you good to get out.

I had my surgery on Monday and today my father-in-law went into emergency with a bowel obstruction. We drove 45 minutes up to where he lives and sat in the hospital for about 5 hours. When my gas, and yes I still have gas, started bothering me, I walked the hall of the emergency room.

  14. I don't know about you, but I am having a problem navigating this new website.

How was your Thanksgiving? We enjoyed out time in CT with family and friends. I watched what I ate and exercised and came home 3 lbs smaller than when I went up.

Not sure how to post to my blog anymore????

  15. 110 lbs and a dress size 10. OMG, what an amazing journey you are having. I am sorry about the un-fill - has it helped? I hope you continue to do well and I agree with the blogging comment. One of the support groups I attended said we should journal. The thought of writing in a book and not sharing with others in the same position as I am in didn't excite me. But I can't wait to get home from work and read what others have written. Keep it up gf - You rock!

  16. 110 lbs in a year is an amazing feat. I am very proud of you. Reading about you makes me know I can do it too. You are always encouraging and have great ideas. Thanks so much.

  17. You look amazing! What a difference. You keep up the good work.

  18. Hi, Rose:

Rich, my husband, and were told by my Oncologist that I should join a gym - it would help ward off getting cancer again. I was not interested in a Bally's or LA Fitness. Too much of a "pick-up" joint. But my hospital has a fitness center about 15 minutes from my home/work. So we joined and I really like it. Living in Florida, it is just too hot to walk outside. The gym is helping me get back into shape and the batwings are getting smaller and the stomach is getting tighter.

Tonight I weighed in at 211.6. My next fill is on Monday, so I will see what the doctor has to say.

Have a great night and keep up the hard work. I can't wait until I am out of the 200s. Eileen

  19. My surgery is one week from Monday on the 21st of June. I can't wait...Liquid diet starts on Monday.

  20. You probably are not on line yet, but I wanted to see how you were doing, just in case you were checking in. Welcome to our little family of people who have chosen to get healthier, thinner and happier. We bandsters must stick together, so let us know how you are doing. There is a wealth of knowledge on this site, so just ask questions if you have them and someone will respond to you. Best of luck, again.

  21. Hi, Cris: So glad you are feeling better. And, congrats on the 25lb loss. Isn't it great? Keep up the good work. How was the fill on Wed. Are you sure that you weren't ill from that? My doctor won't let me eat, liquids only, for a week after the fill. I hate the liquid stage, but I try to listen to the doctor.

  22. A CPAP machine is worn by people who have sleep apnea. It helps keep air pushing through your nose so you don't stop breathing while you are sleeping.

I have sleep apnea, or did before lap-band, but I could not sleep with the machine. Very uncomfortable and bulky. Since I have lost weight, I havn't had the sleep problem.

  23. 3lb loss is great! It will take a while for your body to acclimate to the new you. Keep up the good work and don't rush yourself. Slow and steady is the way to go.

  24. Hi, Cris: Haven't heard from you in a while. Wanted to check in to see how things were going? Hope all is great and you are doing well. Keep in touch.

  25. Hi, Blondie. I will be taking a new picture this weekend and will probably change my avatar. I really never liked the picture I am using, but it was the most recent one I had. I am actually wearing a wig in the picture, which is similar to my actual hair, just lighter in color.

The reason I had a wig on is that I had breast cancer surgery (left breast mastectomy) on Jan 5th and I was scheduled for chemo and radiation, which thank goodness it turned out I didn't need. But I got the wig because I was told I would lose my hair within 11 days after starting chemo. I took the wig pic to show friends who lived out of state.
