  1. Hey Rose,

I find I might be eating a little less than before. I don't feel the "restriction" everyone speaks about, but I do try to eat slowly and when I find I am not hungry anymore, I stop eating. I rarely find myself hungry between meals, but I really didn't before either. My normal schedule: breakfast at 6:30, lunch at 1:45 and dinner around 6-6:30.

I am scheduled for another fill later this month, and I am thinking about having it done. But I am losing weight consistently and I can eat anything comfortably. So, I'm not sure. How about you? Eileen

  2. I hope you are doing well, because I haven't heard a peep from you. If you remember correctly, we were banded on the same day, which is my actual birthday - now my re-birthday. How are you doing? Please check in with us.

  3. Hi, Cris:

When are you going to post some before and after photos? So curious as to what you really look like.

  4. Hi, Mezzo:

To check out anyone's photo album, click on their Avatar. When you get to their page, go all the way down and on the right it will say Photo Album. If you click on that it will take you to their photos.

  5. Hi, Kathy:

You haven't posted in a while. I hope you are doing great. Let us know what is going on with you.

  6. Hey, Rose:

How are you doing? How was the fill? Did you go today? I hope it went smoothly and you didn't have any problems. My doctor requires a liquid diet the day of and the next day, followed by 1 day of mushy and then back to normal. They said the reason was you sometimes get a little swollen after a fill and this will help you not get stuck. Let me know how it went.

  7. Hi,

Glad everything is going well for you. I hope you are enjoying the gym. I really do like it - it makes me feel as if I am not only accomplishing something, but working towards my goal.

1# until the Onederland is remarkable. You will hit it very soon, just don't give up. So far I have lost 35 lbs since my surgery putting me at 216. I've only had 1 fill of 1cc last Thurs and that is holding me very well right now. I have given away most of my clothes, so I am taking a shopping weekend with friends next weekend and making a complete vacation out of it - hitting the spa at the hotel. I am excited and can't wait.

So glad to hear from you. Please keep in touch.

  8. Thanks, Christy. I apprciated the friends request, as well. You are doing so amazing well. Keep it up.

  9. Thanks, Sandradee. Things are going pretty well. I had my first fill this past Thurs, 1cc, and find I am eating less. I wish I could go back to losing 2-3 lbs a week, but since Jun21st I 've lost about 35 lbs. So I shouldn't complain or be greedy. How is your weight loss going for you? I wish you all of the best.

  10. Thanks for the comments on my blog. I think you are an inspiration and I know you will reach your goa. Keep blogging!

  11. I understand you are nervous about the surgery, but in all honesty, you should be more nervous about what can happen without it.

I had so many co-morbidities that I was afraid of having a heart attack and dropping dead. I am diabetic (Type 2), high cholesterol, high blood pressure, my thyroid wasn't working well, sleep apnea and I just felt old, fat and uncomfortable all of the time.

Since my surgery my meds have been cut in half and I am warding off another bout with cancer. Yes, I am a breast cancer survivor. Had a mastectomy on January 5th, 2010. I had emergency gallbladder removed on July 19, 2009.

I wish you the best of luck and will be here if you need a shoulder to lean on or have questions to be answered.

  12. Hey, Blondi:

Where are you? Haven't heard from you in a while. Please check in and let us know what is happening with you.

  13. Hey, Maggs:

It has been a while since we heard from you. I hope your move has been a success, your new job is going well and your weight loss is going in the right direction.

I hope you check in and let us know what is going on with you.

  14. So, how are you doing? Haven't heard from you and I am getting worried.

  15. Good to hear from you; it has beena while. I am hoping for a 10-15 lb loss for my trip at Thanksgiving. As of yesterday I am down almost 35 lbs since the surgery and I lost about 14 lbs prior to surgery, so our friends and family will be kind of surprised when they see me. Glad you are doing well.

  16. Hi, Rose:

Yes, I got my fill this past Thurs. It was only 1cc, and I can feel the difference. The fill was a piece of cake - perhaps I shouldn't use that terminology (lol). I barely felt the needle. It took a couple of seconds and that was it. I am scheduled to return in 1 month, but if I feel hungry between meals, I will call to make an appointment for a sooner date. As of yesterday, I am down since my surgery 34-35 lbs.

Hope you were out of town on vacation or for a fun reason. Glad you are back. Eileen

  17. I wish you the best of luck. When I first got banded, I measured my food, but I don't anymore. Believe me, if you take small bites and chew them really well, it will cause you to slow down. By slowing down, you will be able to tell more easily when you should stop. It is something you will learn. Those of us over weight never learned how to feel full, but the lap-band will teach you. Welcome to our little club. This is the best thing you will ever do for yourself.

Word of advice - the surgery will cause you to have gas pains in the upper shoulder and neck. Walking will help. Some others used GasX. Have some on hand. I had it one hand, but I didn't need it, but you might.

  18. I have to say that when I posted my new "green shirt" photo, I noticed it had gotten bigger, but when I read your post about my armholes, I really took notice. Boy, that made me feel great. I hadn't even seen the difference until you pointed it out. I called out to my husband to come look at it with me and we both got a good kick out of it. I always say that the one area I really want to lose is the grandma arms. Thanks!

  19. Where have you been? Haven't heard anything from you for a while. I hope you are doing great!

  20. Hey, Debra:

Where have you been? Haven't seen anyting from you lately. How are you doing? Miss ya!

  21. Hi, Rose:

You are doing great! I am so happy for you. 38lbs since July 15 is an amazing accomplishment. Keep up the good work. I might be getting ready for my first fill, but we will see on Sunday how I weigh in. I don't keep a scale at home - I only weigh in at the gym 3-4 times a week. I'm 5'3" and have about 22 or 23 lbs, as of yesterday, to get into the onederland. I can't wait. It will have been more than 20 years for me. Have a great night and thanks for all of your wonderful comments, always.

  22. No fill yet. I am scheduled, again, for next week but depending on what happens this week...I have past on the last 3 fills. I lost 5 lbs last week, but only 8/10s of a lb this week. But, I've been losing consistently 3-4 lbs a week since my surgery on 6/21. Prior to surger I was up to 268lbs. On surgery date, I was 151.4 and am now 223. I weigh in and chart my losses on Sunday. If I don't have a descent loss this week, it might mean I need my first fill. I haven't been hungry and I don't think I am eating any more than I have been. I'm at the gym 3-4 times a week. I do cardio2 times a week and combine cardio and weight training 2 days a week. I find I really love the gym.

I am anxious to lose enough to get out of the 220. We'll see how it goes.

You are doing remarkably well. Keep up the good work. Are you exercising? Are you getting protein from your food or are you doing shakes? I am so happy for you and I know you will hit the ONEderland very soon.

  23. Hey, Marw. I am doing well. My first fill is scheduled for next week and I think I might be getting ready. Last week I lost 5lbs, this past week only 8/10s of a lb. I have been consistently losing 3-4 lbs - last week I lost more and this week much less. So, I'll see how I do between now and my fill date and then I'll decide.

I've taken my Sept pictures in my green shirt, but my husband and I got a new computer and he hasn't installed Photoshop yet, so I can't upload it yet. But I will very soon. Hopy your journey is going along great. What was the date of your surgery? How much have you lost so far?

  24. OMG, only 12 lbs to go? How wonderful for you. What amazing journey you must have had. You should write a blog and tell us all how you got to where you are now. I am so excited for you. And yes, pictures would be great. You are an inspiration. Thanks for all of your kind words. Get a blog going, I want to hear everything about your journey.

  25. thanks for the friend's request. I am honored to welcome you. I am originally from Brooklyn, NY and have lived in FL for 30 years. I had been banded on 6/21 and I have never been so happy.
