  1. I have to say that when I posted my new "green shirt" photo, I noticed it had gotten bigger, but when I read your post about my armholes, I really took notice. Boy, that made me feel great. I hadn't even seen the difference until you pointed it out. I called out to my husband to come look at it with me and we both got a good kick out of it. I always say that the one area I really want to lose is the grandma arms. Thanks!

  2. I am so glad you are doing better. I saw the surgeon's assistant today and everything is on track for my June 21st surgery. I lost another lb - not really dieting, just exercising. I am really enjoying the gym. Do you exercise at all? When you say pretty hungry, have you told your doctor?

  3. I wish you the best of luck. When I first got banded, I measured my food, but I don't anymore. Believe me, if you take small bites and chew them really well, it will cause you to slow down. By slowing down, you will be able to tell more easily when you should stop. It is something you will learn. Those of us over weight never learned how to feel full, but the lap-band will teach you. Welcome to our little club. This is the best thing you will ever do for yourself.

Word of advice - the surgery will cause you to have gas pains in the upper shoulder and neck. Walking will help. Some others used GasX. Have some on hand. I had it one hand, but I didn't need it, but you might.

  4. You look terrific and appear to be doing so well. Keep up the good work.

  5. I don't know if you have your surgery at a hospital or not, but mine has 2 fitness centers - the one I go to which is closer to my home does not have a pool. The membership is very inexpensive and the trainers come with the membership. If you want a private session, then they would charge. But they teach and inspire at no additional cost. You should check it out.

  6. Hi, Janet:

You are an inspirational person - the type of person everyone on this website so appreciates. You look amazing and always have such wonderful things to say. I appreciate you and I am so glad to be your bandster sister.

  7. Thanks, Sandradee. Things are going pretty well. I had my first fill this past Thurs, 1cc, and find I am eating less. I wish I could go back to losing 2-3 lbs a week, but since Jun21st I 've lost about 35 lbs. So I shouldn't complain or be greedy. How is your weight loss going for you? I wish you all of the best.

  8. Hi,

Glad everything is going well for you. I hope you are enjoying the gym. I really do like it - it makes me feel as if I am not only accomplishing something, but working towards my goal.

1# until the Onederland is remarkable. You will hit it very soon, just don't give up. So far I have lost 35 lbs since my surgery putting me at 216. I've only had 1 fill of 1cc last Thurs and that is holding me very well right now. I have given away most of my clothes, so I am taking a shopping weekend with friends next weekend and making a complete vacation out of it - hitting the spa at the hotel. I am excited and can't wait.

So glad to hear from you. Please keep in touch.

  9. Congrats for reaching the Onederland. I have about 10 lbs to go before I get there, but I know it is coming. Keep up the good work.

  10. Hey, Rose:

How are you doing? How was the fill? Did you go today? I hope it went smoothly and you didn't have any problems. My doctor requires a liquid diet the day of and the next day, followed by 1 day of mushy and then back to normal. They said the reason was you sometimes get a little swollen after a fill and this will help you not get stuck. Let me know how it went.

  11. Thanks, Christy. I apprciated the friends request, as well. You are doing so amazing well. Keep it up.

  12. Hi, Kathy:

You haven't posted in a while. I hope you are doing great. Let us know what is going on with you.

  13. I am so glad the fill was so easy for you. I think I am more nervous about the fills then the actual surgery. How crazy is that? My doctor said they don't want any eating between meals, if possible. But if you are hungry after 3 hours, perhaps you are right and needed more than 2cc's. I don't know, but don't get upset. Everyone calls it the sweet spot and you will get there. Try keeping track of when you eat/drink and see if there is perhaps something you are missing or forgetting. You will get it all worked out, so get scared the sweet spot is out there and you will find it.

  14. I am so glad to hear you are doing better. It isn't easy, but we are all in this together. The gym is the best! I love the treadmill on the random setting - having the floor go up and down. It is fun. I would love try Zumba. My gym offers the classes - I'll have to check the schedule. Have a great 4th.

  15. Hey, Cris:

How are you feeling? My gas is gone and pretty much the only pain I have is when I roll over in bed during the night. I am feeling amazingly well.

Your doctor allowed you to eat much more food than my doctor has allowed me. I don't get mushy/pureed until next Friday. What are you eating? How are you holding it down?

  16. So how are you doing today? Are you maintaining your diet alright? I am so sick of soup and protein shakes. I can't wait until next Friday to eat some real food.

Let me know how you are doing.

  17. Hi, Healthy:

I would love to have you as a friend. So, yes! The more the merrier.

To add someone to your friends list, click on friends (above) and then click on edit. You then type in the name of the person you want to add and click on the send friend message. You shouldn't have any problems with it.

  18. I would love to be band buddies! I already accepted your friend's request.

I start my liquid diet tomorrow, the 14th. I am a little worried about it, but I will do it. All of you who have been banded and blog about it have given me the encouragement and will to make it happen for me too.

Any advise you care to offer would be greatly appreciated.

  19. Hi, Rose:

Yes, I got my fill this past Thurs. It was only 1cc, and I can feel the difference. The fill was a piece of cake - perhaps I shouldn't use that terminology (lol). I barely felt the needle. It took a couple of seconds and that was it. I am scheduled to return in 1 month, but if I feel hungry between meals, I will call to make an appointment for a sooner date. As of yesterday, I am down since my surgery 34-35 lbs.

Hope you were out of town on vacation or for a fun reason. Glad you are back. Eileen

  20. Good to hear from you; it has beena while. I am hoping for a 10-15 lb loss for my trip at Thanksgiving. As of yesterday I am down almost 35 lbs since the surgery and I lost about 14 lbs prior to surgery, so our friends and family will be kind of surprised when they see me. Glad you are doing well.

  21. Thank you for the Joel Robinson link. I will certainly pass it on to my horror-geek husband upon his return from the Famous Monster's convention this weekend in Indi. I am sure he has heard of your friend as he listed magazines my husband reads. My husband, Rich Schellbach, is a freelance writer so perhaps they have heard of eachother. Have a great evening and thanks again.

  22. So, how are you doing? Haven't heard from you and I am getting worried.

  23. Hey, Maggs:

  24. My husband is at the Famous Monsters of Filmland convention being held at the Wyndham Indianapolis-West
