I hit a huge victory today as I am down 100 lbs since starting this process!!! I lost 11 before surgery, and 89 since surgery on 12/24/12. I am almost 6 months to the day from surgery and I cannot wait to go for my 6 month checkup next month!
...
Size 22/24 to size 10/12 in 6 months.
I'm still planning on losing more, however this is my biggest victory to date..even bigger than getting out of the 200's!!!!
Keep up the good work everyone it is SOOOOOOOOO worth it!!!
Girl, you're going to be my inspiration! You were the same starting height/weight as me, and we're almost the same age

I was outpatient. I think it really depends what you're comfortable with. If you are the sort of person who likes to have a nurse at your disposal 24/7, staying longer in the hospital is probably better. If you're someone like me who sort of likes to be left alone to deal with things...the less clinic time the better

This might sound stupid, but have you tried icing the area that hurts? That worked really well for me when I was having pain issues in one specific area. I also found that wearing a back brace to sort of "hold everything together" helped.

I had my sleeve done by Dr. Borland in New Iberia, LA. I had a wonderful experience with him (if you are comfortable with an oupatient procedure.)

BTW, I totally know what you mean about looking sloppy OP. My jeans almost fell down in the hallway at work today! hehe. I just try to remember they're saggy and loose because I'm getting smaller.

I'm glad to hear that you're getting back on track again; we'll be here to support you the whole way

That sounds like a horror movie!!!

I, too, have an overeating issue. But if you can commit to following a plan, I would suggest trying Medifast. Those 35 pounds should come off pretty easily if you follow their plan. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you could do it in 2-3 months...max.

I, too, am in the process of learning to stay away from that one last bite. It never ends well.

wish I could go off my meds soon, but unfortunately my high blood pressure is anxiety-based. Bla!

When I'm thin I look like a total boy. I'd rather be a curvy, girly girl but that's just not the way I was made. I think I'd rather be a healthy curveless wonder than an unhealthy curvy gal. That's just me

That's one of my biggest fears is that even after I've lost weight, I'm still going to HATE exercise!

Thank you so much for posting this. I have had several episodes of close calls but recently I had an accident while I was on the telephone with my girlfriend. I had developed the sweats and figured that I would be ok but I was sooo wrong. After about 2-3 minutes I knew that I wouldn't make it but my friend wouldn't shut up. I figured that I could let a little gas out but I was wrong. Before I knew it, I had poop running down my leg and she was still talking! I had to finally say, I have to go! I was home alone and was embarrassed so I can only imagine how u felt on the side of the road.
Yet we're taking the "easy way out", right?

I put Itch-X around the incisions and was just careful not to get it on the actual incision, just the skin around it.

In the US, I'd say $10,000-$20,000 is average. I have a bunch of self-pay prices listed on my blog (the link is in my signature)

Last week I finally lost a pound but it was mainly Water. Started back on my c25k program so hoping that kicks this stall into high gear.On another sidenote I had my six month appointment yesterday for postop and never saw the doctor. I waited 2 1/2 hours in the waiting room until I finally went up and said if the doctor is running behind because of surgery complications I'll leave my paperwork and come back later. They assured me he was coming right over to see patients and they took me right back which then they promptly left me sitting for almost 45 minutes. I got mad and walked out and haven't heard from the doctors office yet! I think I'll be returning to my GP & let him monitor my progress from this point on!
Sheesh, they owe you a free movie pass or something!!

When I was in high school wearing size 9 juniors I thought I was fat. For those of us with body image issues, I think it's something we always have to deal with.

I've lost 100 pounds before and gained it back...in less than a year. For me, it's not losing the weight that is hard. It's keeping it off.

I know for me going to "full liquids" definitely made me feel yucky for a while. I'm a month out and still have days of just feeling "blegh". Our bodies are healing and I guess we just have to deal with the highs and lows

Good luck to you, I am certain you'll never regret your decision!!! Go get a disposable camera and have someone take your picture the day before or the day of surgery. Every month on your surgery date, have your picture taken. After the one year anniversary picture, take the camera and have it developed!!! It's a "wow" moment, laying all those pictures side by side and seeing your transformation!!!! A really fun thing to do!!!
What a great idea! I never thought of that!!!

I find it amazing how differently people heal! I'm at about a month out, and still the mere thought of most foods makes me woozy and a little barfy. haha
