  1. You see, that's the thing. I'm not too keen on this being an outpatient procedure. I'm very low-risk as I have zero health problems aside from my weight, but I can't help but think, "what IF?" Also, I want to be in the same town as my husband and small children and my mom who will be helping during recovery. But so glad to hear you had a good experience. I've heard great things about Dr. Borland. I'm feeling *pretty certain* that my insurance will deny me, and I know Borland has a more attractive cash price, so I may change my tune when it's all said and done!

Well if you do end up considering Dr. Borland, feel free to PM me. I'll tell you anything you want to know :)

  2. I hit a huge victory today as I am down 100 lbs since starting this process!!! I lost 11 before surgery, and 89 since surgery on 12/24/12. I am almost 6 months to the day from surgery and I cannot wait to go for my 6 month checkup next month!

    ...

Size 22/24 to size 10/12 in 6 months.

I'm still planning on losing more, however this is my biggest victory to date..even bigger than getting out of the 200's!!!!

Keep up the good work everyone it is SOOOOOOOOO worth it!!!

Girl, you're going to be my inspiration! You were the same starting height/weight as me, and we're almost the same age :)

  3. I was outpatient. I think it really depends what you're comfortable with. If you are the sort of person who likes to have a nurse at your disposal 24/7, staying longer in the hospital is probably better. If you're someone like me who sort of likes to be left alone to deal with things...the less clinic time the better :)

  4. Thank you so much for posting this. I have had several episodes of close calls but recently I had an accident while I was on the telephone with my girlfriend. I had developed the sweats and figured that I would be ok but I was sooo wrong. After about 2-3 minutes I knew that I wouldn't make it but my friend wouldn't shut up. I figured that I could let a little gas out but I was wrong. Before I knew it, I had poop running down my leg and she was still talking! I had to finally say, I have to go! I was home alone and was embarrassed so I can only imagine how u felt on the side of the road.

Yet we're taking the "easy way out", right?

  5. Last week I finally lost a pound but it was mainly Water. Started back on my c25k program so hoping that kicks this stall into high gear.

On another sidenote I had my six month appointment yesterday for postop and never saw the doctor. I waited 2 1/2 hours in the waiting room until I finally went up and said if the doctor is running behind because of surgery complications I'll leave my paperwork and come back later. They assured me he was coming right over to see patients and they took me right back which then they promptly left me sitting for almost 45 minutes. I got mad and walked out and haven't heard from the doctors office yet! I think I'll be returning to my GP & let him monitor my progress from this point on!

Sheesh, they owe you a free movie pass or something!!

  6. Good luck to you, I am certain you'll never regret your decision!!! Go get a disposable camera and have someone take your picture the day before or the day of surgery. Every month on your surgery date, have your picture taken. After the one year anniversary picture, take the camera and have it developed!!! It's a "wow" moment, laying all those pictures side by side and seeing your transformation!!!! A really fun thing to do!!!

What a great idea! I never thought of that!!!
