    I have a date/ 2nd try

Band erosion seems SO COMMON on this forum! Do you know the statistics of how often it happens, by chance?

    Conflicting Stories from Doctors

I personally feel that there is a lot of misinformation being spread by well-meaning counselors, nurses, and even doctors. The gastric sleeve is a fairly new procedure in the grand scheme of things, and I think a lot of the "cautionary tales" people like to spread are actually referring to gastric banding or gastric bypass.
  3. Perhaps focus on cutting out the carbs for now, until you get to goal. Once you get to goal, you could certainly add back in the brown rice and pasta as long as you aren't gaining weight back. Right now it sounds like your body just thinks it's at maintenance?

I HAVE NEVER HIT A STALL

Considering the sleeve is a lifetime change, I think weighing yourself once a month is a great idea! I think the sooner we can get to "normal" behaviors, the better. And I certainly don't want to obsess over the scale for the rest of my life.

    How will this be different?

I had my consult w/ the surgeon on Wednesday and he said I was a very good, low-risk candidate for the surgery. I sent off my payment last night...so surgery is a go for the 22nd! Hard to believe it's happening so fast!
  6. That was the hardest part after getting my gallbladder out, was finding a comfortable way to sleep. I'm sure it'll be the same way with my sleeve!

    Not Ready

I know how you feel! When you realize this is real and really happening, it's a lot to take in. I'm just focusing on all the good things this will mean for my future.

    5weeks po with pics!

You can definitely see it in the face! I think that's usually the first place I notice

When you get skinny, don't shop at A&F.

I'd never go in that store anyway...it smells disgusting.
  12. I think it's great that you're facing all these feelings now and learning how to deal with them or get past them. Better to deal with the emotional issues right away than pretend everything is ok and have them smack you in the face later on!

From broken girl to strong woman

Wow, you're a hottie! Keep it up!
  14. I don't have any advice for you since I"m pre-op, but I totally know the feeling. I have a range of clothes from size 11 to size 22. In the past I kept them because I knew I'd eventually need the big clothes again, but after surgery...they're gone, gone, gone. I'm so looking forward to it.

Gotta love kitties- they always find interesting ways to be supportive

    How will this be different?

I have a phone consult w/ my surgeon tonight to go over all my test results. Assuming everything looks good, I'll be able to book my travel. AHH! It's really going to happen!!

    More on Gov. Christie...

well the good thing is if there are complications, it will surely make the news.

    Oh, the shame.

Consider this...before, you wouldn't have been worried about a bite of pizza or pasta shells. You'd have been worried about eating a WHOLE pizza. Or a BOX of pasta shells. hehe

    Front 4 mos

Your pics are so inspirational to me! Your pre-op pics look almost exactly like me pre-op.

    Low cost, cash pay option

That would be Dr. Borland in New Iberia, LA. That's who I'm going to.
  22. Silken tofu makes a lovely smoothie too, when blended with fruit!
  23. 50 pounds over 5 years is a lot more tolerable than 100 pounds over 1 year (which is what I managed to do! Eek!)
