If I were a member of the black race, I would be ashamed to claim him.
Are we not all "members" of society?

Remind your husband of the years being taken away from you because of the unhealthy state of your weight!
Proceed with the lapband even if he doesn't want you to do it! He'll be in awe a few months down the road. So will you!
Oh, and I guarantee you will NOT feel like sleeping during the day!
Besos.

I love this whole forum, but I too would like to see this as a sticky please. I'm curious as to why it hasn't been done yet; there has been more than one request.....
I wonder who started this site?

Hey, Girl. Don't worry about what this guy has said. If anything, he needs our pity. He is probably not capable of loving anyone, including himself - he's too critical.
People that say things like he did just remind me of who "I never want to be".
Don't you feel great that you are accepting of people?
Love yourself. What he says is about him, not about you.
Chin up.
Besos, Kat.
OKAY I am totally venting here....I have been doing great out of surgery, feeling better, back to work, back to the gym, etc...So today I decided to post a personal ad on a dating site....People are supposed to respond if they are interested right? Well this guy emails me saying that I should be ashamed and disgusted of my weight...I have a beautiful face and smile but I am so unhealthy it is disgusting...I am not his type (who the hell asked him?)...I should hang out with people that diet and excercise...I am truly beside myself....No wonder why I am fucking insecure, sorry about the language...Why are people so mean I just dont get it.... -
I quit couple years ago, and I remember that first month! You are right, it is not easy, but because you have made it a month, it will be easier not go back!
Congrats!

Can y'all explain to me how you feel when you are full? I know we are not supposed to feel that fullness that I used to go for before banding; you know, where you can't even move after eating.
How do you feel and what is your indicator to stop eating. I want to feel some kind of fullness! Otherwise I would have been able to do this on my own! Hmmm, I think I am not being patient. Still trying to figure this out.
Still learning!:girl_hug:
Thanks in advance.
Kat.
PS had my first fill on Nov. 21st.

Good Morning, Ladies & Gents.
Well, as I mentioned, I had my first fill on Tuesday. I'm not really sure how I am supposed to feel though? Example: I take a drink of Water and can feel it going down, & when it hits my stoma (spell?) it sort of makes a little burpy sound and it's gone & I feel fine. I know I have to change my way of thinking too - that I will not feel that horrible fullness I used to feel while eating, before being banded.
What examples can you give me of your daily diets on the mushy stage please. Dr. Leung mentioned soft chicken; soft vegies (he was kind of vague; and who better to ask than y'all), but what else? What about Breakfast and lunch? I could stay on this thick pureed Soup for a long time, cuz I am so afraid to stop losing; however, I know this is unrealistic cuz the solid food is what will make me full.
I know there are Soups on here, but I would like soft/solid food daily menus.
Thanks in advance. I am so glad you are all out there!!!!
Kat.
ps now I know what people meant when they said they were learning how to use their band, cuz I feel like that right now; I am fairly confused...guess it's trial and error.:nervous

Lisa, what is PCOS?

You know, if you are having trouble with chicken you could try boiling it to a "shredded consistency". That would be easier to eat, yes?

Do Scallops go down as easy as fish?
Thanks.

I had my first fill today. I accidentally looked at the needle when it was on the counter and I just about peed myself (I'm not usually afraid of needles), but you know what, it didn't hurt a bit! In fact, I felt nothing when it was going in. Anyhow, I think I understand how the Water thing works (when u are getting your fill): the water sort of sits between your "boobs" and then slowly releases down, right ? That's what I felt anyway.
I didn't eat during the day, but for supper, a little while ago, I had some creamy Soup (a very small amount 1/4 cup..if) and it seemed to go down. I'm not really feeling hungry, but not sure what I am to be looking for? I suppose I will get a better idea when I progress to solids?
I feel so happy...sigh.

Wow, Telly! Are you ever an inspiration. You know, I remember going to an aerobics class once (I could just barely keep up) and I remember there was a woman at the front of the class with the nicest, toned back I had ever seen-I could tell she weight-trained. Anyhow, she was what kept me going at that class as I too wanted to have a back like that. Now I know this can come true after being banded! I can already feel I am on my way.
Oops, sorry for going on!!
Enjoy your training, Telly! Very exciting!
Cheers.

We are faithful "every Sunday afternoon" Nascar fans! Love it. We are from Canada and plan to take a trip one year to either Taladaga or Daytona.

Someone posted something on another site I belong to saying that the Dr. filled with part Saline and part air. She had never heard of this, and neither had I.
Any thoughts?

One more thing - I have a pain all of a sudden, the last couple of days, around my port sight inside; when I bend over it causes pain on the right side of my port?? What does this mean?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, Sunta. I will definately try the recipe you have offered. Do you have any other Indian dish recipes? I love Indian food!
Thanks.

Hey, MyPov. How about knowing that you can look forward to the following and alot more: going for a walk without back or knee pain; going shopping; wearing your seatbelt; doing housework; swimming; lifting your feet up to put your socks on; taking a bath comfortably; using stairs; fit into chairs at: movie theatres, restaurants, hockey games, etc.; get up and down from the couch with ease; run if you want to while flying a kite; bike ride; roller skate, and best of all, how about playing on the swings and slide with your little ones....I could go on and on, but you get my drift. Be excited!!!! It will change your life in a fabulous way! Your new life will be your "project"!
Cheers.

Just tell them the truth: you are eating better now, and eating less. That's true, right? They don't need to know anything more. That's what I say to people that ask (people that don't know I am banded).
Cheers.

Hi, Dollybird. I was banded on Oct. 13th by Dr. Wai Leung in Surrey (close for you) 581-2515. To date, I have lost just under 50 lbs. Do it! You know, I called his office the end of June last year and here I am already banded!
$13,000 inclusive; cheaper if you don't have to stay overnight in the hospital.
I am super happy thus far.

:hungry: Roxy, may I have the recipe for your turkey chili please? It sounds really good! I can eat that during my mushie stage, right? I go in for my first fill on Nov. 23rd, at which time I can begin my mushie stage.
Thanks.

What about boiled chicken? Boil it in some hot sauce or something, for flavour. Then it is shredded.
Does shredded chicken (or beef) go down easier?

I quit smoking 2 1/2 years ago. That was the beginning of my "healthy" journey. Now, to get a handle on my eating, hence the "banding". I want to live a long time! I just knew I had to quit smoking - smoking and being morbidly obese takes years off of your life!
Good luck...you can only quit when you, and you alone, are ready. I didn't quit for anyone (not even my child!), I did it for me.
Now, I don't even think about cigarettes, and I was a chain smoker!

I have a list of meds that I shouldn't take, but Midol isn't on the list - can I take this? "That time of the month" lasts forever for me these days! and I stay bloated for so long. I'm hoping if I can take Midol, it will help.

Hi, everyone. I too was banded by Dr. Leung. I think he's the cat's meow; he doesn't sugar coat anything..tells you "what it is". I like that.
Kat.
I NEED HELP! I can't take my meds!

It doesn't sound like you can get chewables for the all the pills you are taking. How about throwing them in the blender with Protein Shake ingredients: just a bit of Protein Powder, Water, some frozen fruit, and your pills! You won't even taste them.
