  1. my doctor told me specifically no straws because you can get more air than you should... I'm two weeks out from being banded and joined some old high school friends for lunch on Sunday... first time in forever the waiter brought me a Water with the straw ALREADY in my drink! I almost, out of habit, started drinking, but then remembered ..and removed it.. it was actually good to have something to play with while my friends ate their meals!

  2. So now that it is almost June how is everyone doing? :cursing:

I am doing much better now that I feel more like myself again!! honestly, it took about a week and a half to get here..

I am down 12 lbs since banding... I am going in for my post op on the 1st and then back to work (got a little vacation.. lol) can't wait for my first fill on the 14th! I have four incisions and three are pretty much healed.. I still have the steri-strips on the port incision. My clothes are a little looser AND my rings go on without a battle.. I love it!

can't wait to start working out... I am cleared to do the elliptical for 30 minutes a day starting when I go back to work... I've been walking every night and am up to 1 mile and making it in to a family thing! :w00t:

can't wait to hear how everyone is doing!

  3. This was an important question that I asked my doctor after reading about it on this forum... his answer? I have never NOT done a surgery because of a fatty liver... in fact, he went on to tell me the pre op diet is given to help you lose some weight (which is helpful for any surgery) but also so I could get used to the post op diet and way of life...

all doctors are different though....

  4. I was banded on Friday the 14th. Today is the first day I have felt like myself since....

My incisions are healing nicely, but the gas pain is horrible. I don't really have it in the shoulder, but mostly in my chest ... I can't burp either... it goes in, but doesn't come out which just makes it worse! Any words of advice how to get the burps up? I know that it would be the cure to my ills!

Yesterday I was allowed to add yogurt to my diet and man! I needed it! I haven't really been hungry (although my stomach grumbling begs to differ), but the yogurt hit home nicely.

One thing I am having issues with is drinking enough Water... I am forcing it down, but I think I'm subconsciously am afraid I will gulp it down or take too big a swig. Today I did get enough and I feel a million times better.

I have been walking... started with 10 minutes and tonight will be up to 15.. I am actually going to venture to the market ... with my family.... in my pajamas! LOL I have never done that, but you know what? I don't really care.. I want to get my walk in and this way we can kill two birds with one stone!

I know it's early, but I have already lost 11 lbs since surgery day.. I am sure that it's because of my liquid diet, but that's okay.. it's making all the pain and discomfort worth it!

  5. I have Anthem BCBS in Arizona, but I have to tell you... the coverage (and the requirements) are based on what your employer put in their policy. My employer decided to put WLS in the plan for us to use, but a lot of employers will not or do not. I am going through True Results.. and before my first appointment they were able to verify whether or not the surgery would be covered.

That being said, I got my approval within two weeks of my first appointment (once my pre-reqs) were done - and I did them as fast as I could! lol) I am scheduled for May 13th. I got to know the case manager for my employer with BCBS. She was the one that called and told me that I had been approved and in my opinion, she was awesome!!!

  6. My date is May 14th.. I'm beyond excited! I started my 3 week pre-op earlier this week and it really is just low carbs, no fat and no sugars.. it's been okay. My b/f is very supportive so he makes it just that much easier to stick to the diet. I am 6lbs down already!

I'm in Arizona and Dr. Nirmul is my surgeon. He works through TrueResults. Anyone else using him or them?
