  1. I would like to know this as well. I have to have an endoscopy done next week for some pain that I am having around my port site. I have lost and kept off a total of 20 pounds with my band and I am frustrated beyond belief.

  2. I had my surgery October 29th. I hit a plateau in February and I haven't lost a pound. I understand that muscle weighs more than fat, but I feel like I should be losing at least a couple of pounds a month. I still have about 80 lbs to go.

I am right here with you! I have recently started limiting my carbs a bit. I will keep everyone posted.

  3. Hey homie!

My nutritionist says that I should try and get at least 1200 in per day. Not happening. Sometimes I make it but most times I do not.

I think that you are going to have to play around with the numbers a bit. For the past 3 weeks I have been at the gym buring no less than 500 calories per workout. I stayed on the elliptical for at least 45 minutes per day. I did not lose a single pound (or inch for that matter) in 3 weeks. I have not been to the gym in 6 days and have lost 4 pounds. Go figure.

I have decided to ride this out, try to eat more and then get back into the gym. I would get back on the scale and pay attention to what your body is telling you.

  4. I was banded 11/29 and I have not had the burning, but I can relate to the pressure after eating or drinking. I believe that to be caused by the air they put in to do the surgery. I did also have a hiatal hernia repair. I have been mixing miralax in my Water for Constipation and the gas we will see how long it will take for that to work. I am sick of the protien shakes they are beginning to taste aweful, but my doctor has me on a liquid diet until my first appointment on 12/22/10. Any suggestion for a great tasting shake other than vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate?

We were banded on the same day and I am just miserable. On day 4 I took some MOM and it did help. I just think that I over did it. I had hernia repair as well but am not sure if the way I feel is due to that or the band,. I can feel my port, the tugging is the worst. It takes me forever to get up. For some reason I thought that I would be feeling better than I do now. I walk everyday for 45 minutes to help with the gas too.

Is anyone having spasms I keep having this weird spasm that kinda feels like a hiccup maybe? I dunno. I also feel my port all of the time, very uncomfortable. As far as shakes I am using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Chix noodle and some coffee flavored one. I have to make myself drink them as I am not hungry at all. I can not wait for the mushies. Some people say that they can not do the mushies but I am looking forward to it. EVERYTHING is going into the blender and I am going to smile the whole time.

  5. I was banded on 11/29 and I can relate. I have been walking and I have found that it is helping my gas pain a lot. I am still very sore and trying to take it easy. I have 4 incisions and I had a hernia removed at the same time. I plan on keeping with my pain meds for the rest of the week to make sure that I get the proper rest. I am notorious for not keeping still.

  6. I have been on a low carb high Protein diet for 9 days. I have had stomach pain in my upper abdomen and nausea. When I eat it gets worse. When I don't eat the pain goes away. The stomach pain doesn't move around, stays in one place. Don't have diahreah or Constipation or abnormal passing of gas. It hurts bad enough that I have to lay down and I have a reasonable tolerance to pain. I am going to call the doctor on Monday, but have any of you had that reaction from eating a low carb/high Protein diet? Good news, I have lost 10 pounds in 9 days.

    Hello,

I was in the same position about a week ago. I called the doctors office and was taken off the pre-op diet and was advised to eat smaller portions. My back pain was so severe I could not bend over. I went back on the diet for the last two days since I am being banded tomorrow. Now I am a little concerned about the liver issue.

  7. I am being banded on the 29th also and I am super nervous. I am on a low carb pre-op diet that is not going so well. I am having the most severe back pain. I called my surgeons office and they told me to go back to regular foods, just eat less. I went to my family doctor to make sure that I did not have a uti or any other infection to be on the safe side. I found out today that I am all clear but the pain is still there. The closer the day gets I find myself worring about the most foolish things like...can I paint my toes or can I wear makeup? blue shirt or pink shirt? :  at the same time I am ready to start my new life.

  8. For the last two months I was exactly where you are. Waiting on the doctors office to submit my information to BCBSNC. They finally did on October 22 I was approved the same day. I did not know this until I checked the mail on October 30 and BCBSNC sent me a letter in the mail. I spent the morning today calling the office just to get a date. I refused to set a schedule date without insurance approval. I got my date of Nov 29, 2010. My job is the exact same way and I just dropped the bomb with the email! Please hang in there!
