  1. That does suck! But 70 miles doesn't seem that far to me for excellent post-op care. I travel 50 miles to the other side of the SF Bay Area for my doc. With traffic, my commute to the doctor is about an hour and a half. I even got in a horrific car accident on my way there one time, but I still go every month.

  2. I stayed one night in the hospital because I had an asthma attack as I woke up from the anesthesia. Also, on my way down from the recovery room to my own private room, the nurses that were wheeling my bed down there hit a bump and I was in excrutiating pain for an hour till they got my morphine drip set up. I liked staying in the hospital because I was really nauseous from the pain killers and the nurses were there to help me. Also, I started my period the day of surgery, it was soooo embarrassing! The next day I felt pretty good! Walking around really helps! Plus the morphine made everything worse, and it was nice to switch to vicodin the second day. Btw, there was no discharge from my wounds! The bandages sure were itchy tho!

  3. Wow that sounds good! Thanks for the suggestions and advice! That's great that you are doing so well with your weight loss! I want my sister to have lap band surgery because I believe she weighs around what you started at and she is only 16. I believe she will be going to her first consultation for the surgery. I hope she has better dedication to the lifestyle change than I did.

  4. Keep your Vicodin handy! Wow when I was a couple weeks post op, I remember eating soft foods and the sharp pain in my left shoulder that came soon after. I still get this pain from time to time when I overeat, but it's duller than it was right after surgery. Also, I recommend something to wrap around your abdomen, I used a large ace bandage for a couple weeks. For some reason the pressure it created made it bareable for me to leave the house.

  5. I'm not really in my sweet spot, and I'm kind of afraid to get another fill because I've had two unfills so far, and I don't want to go back to throwing everything up. My band could be tightened a little more, but my doc is an hour away, so it's not easy to get back there if I need an unfill. I feel like my lap band is somewhat successful, based on the fact that I realized I was so over weight and need to make a lifestyle change. But after all the pain, throwing up, and plateau in weight loss, I almost don't find it worth it anymore. I've recently rediscovered Subway again, so that's been my latest addiction. (and of course picking out some of that bread, being bad for the lap band and all).

  6. I think I lost like just a few pounds when I got my first fill. There wasn't much restriction, so I was hungry all the time which led to some snacking. After my second fill I felt a little restriction. Right now I am too full and can barely drink, which has led to a 16 pound weight loss in 2 weeks. I am going to the doc tomorrow to have some liquid taken out.

You probably just need another fill. How many CC's are in your band? I have 7cc and it's too much, at my last fill I was 5.8cc, so I need to be somewhere in between there.

  7. I'm just venting because I haven't been able to eat solids since June 7th when I had my last fill. I've lost 16 pounds since, and I am so excited to go to the doc tomorrow and have an "un"fill. I've become way more obsessed with food than I ever was before. I'm over the vomitting and tightness now. I liked losing weight with a little restriction and calorie counting.

But...I was banded March 25th and have lost 45 pounds now. I haven't been at this weight since I was a freshman in high school.

Have y'all ever reached the "RED ZONE"?
