  1. Being anemic will stop you from surgery? Oh wow I didnt know that! I better take my Iron pills cuz sometimes I am on the fence with that!!!!!

Anemia won't stop you from surgery (or at least my surgeon hasn't told me that), I'd just rather enter into this with as little issues as possible, espcially if it's something I can fix...

Plus I have to admit, the gitters may have had a LITTLE something to do with it.

  2. So I was originally scheduled for May 14th, but got some blood work back and looks like I'm anemic...AGAIN. I fiured I'd take a month and get this under control before undergoing the surgery. I'm hoping and praying that with the weightloss the side effects of PCOS will also GO AWAY!!!

Anyway, wondering if anyone else was getting banded in June?!?

  3. Thanks to all that have posted. I guess the error in my judgement was that based on what the average person around me eats, i'm not eating a whole lot, but they're also not trying to lose 100 pounds!! If "normal" eating is 1/2 - 1 cup of food...then i definately blow that out of the park.

    Good insight!

As an aside, anybody not exercise a whole lot and still able to get the weight off with the band?

  4. Well im still very young and I'm not around many people that are heavier and that are trying to lose weight. If someone was to really ask me how I was doing it and they wanted help losing weight, I would prolly tell them but other then that most people I know have never been heavier and had to lose weight, so Im not sure I believe its there business on how I lose it. Just how I look at it I guess :-/

I agree with both of you. This journey is extremely personal, especially if you've been struggling with your weight for most of your life. To tell or not to tell....that is the question that I've been asking myself lately. My immediate family knows, and that's about it just becuse

I don't like talking about my weight in general.

I say do whatever feels good in your soul!!!

  5. Girlie!!! I am sooooo there with you!! I have been going back and forth for about 4 months now. Just today I got the call that my insurance was approved, and have my surgery date scheduled for May 14th!!!

The whole think kindda feels like when you're flirting with a guy to see if their interested, but then when he is, you're kindda like OH SH!T....what now?! lol

I have the same fear of what if i'm not successful at this? It's a huge deal, and if I do this, and even the lap band can't help me drop the pounds...then what?

I know the band is as much psychological as it is physical, and I guess my advice to you (and me) is to make sure your miind's right!!

  6. Hey everyone!!

I've been cruising these forums for a while and am very impressed with the progress made by many of you on here.

I didn't find any answers to one of my burning questions, so I thought I'd register and post a question myself.

I am considering getting the weight loss surgery, and have been doing some research for a few months now. A lot of people I talk to talk about how before the surgery, they ate A LOT of food (i.e a full big mac meal with room for desert, or something of the like). I don't THINK I eat a lot...so I am starting to question whether or not this surgery is right for me. I've struggled with my weight for most of my life. I am currently 245, 5'4 female.

Can any of you give me some advice? What were your eating habits like before surgery, and after surgery?

    GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
