    Hey Ya'll!!

Hey guys!!! Ronke here (no my name's not Jonelle...long story ) I'm supposed to be banded June 18th...BUT still not 100% about it. I still have some questions/concerns to work out about whether the surgery is right for me. I should have a final decision made by the end of next week though!! Anyway just wanted to say "hey" to everyone!!!! This is a nice little support group we've got going here!
  2. Hi guys!! So after a LOOOONG time of going back and forth about the lap band surgery, I think I'm ready to start this journey. So I know going this alone is not going to be easy, and I'm still on the fence as to who to tell (other than fam). So, my lap band friends, I'm looking for people with similar stats to go through this journey with! I'm 24 yo Weight - 244 lbs (goal weight of ~130) Height - 5'4 Band Date - June 18th Location - Cincinnati area Outlook - Extremely optimistic!!!

    What you want after

I'll be banded June 18th and I am looking forward to... 1) Not having to throw away a pair of jeans because my thighs rubbing together has almost burned a hole into them!!! 2) Going shopping with my sisters and friends in the 'skinny ppl store' and not be limited to looking at accessories only  3) Not being the 'token fat friend' 4) Not being embarrased to exercise 5) Not getting tired climbing a flight of stairs, and having to pace myself! 6) Falling in love again, and not being guarded because of the way I look  7) Passing my work's yearly phisical for the first time! 7) JUST BEING NORMAL!!!!:tt1:

    I LOVE my sister?

I have to agree with you, but also say that a HUGE part of this has to do with your metabolism. Based on the calculator, the caloric intake I needed for extreme weight loss was 1960!!!!! LOL if only!! I've been doing 1400-1600 per day and have been maintaining my weight for about 10 months (with moderate exercise). I believe my body needs half of that for weight loss!

Similar Stats?? Looking for a buddy...or two...or ten!!!

Well hello Skinny_jeans! Looks like both you will be banded before me...You'll have to tell me how the experience goes. Are you required to do a pre-op diet? Nean, your pre-op is today? let me know how that goes. I know I'm going to have to do 2 wks of a Fluid only diet...protein shakes mostly, but i dont really know the details! i guess I'll find out at my pre-op appointment.

    June anyone!?!?!??

So I was originally scheduled for May 14th, but got some blood work back and looks like I'm anemic...AGAIN. I fiured I'd take a month and get this under control before undergoing the surgery. I'm hoping and praying that with the weightloss the side effects of PCOS will also GO AWAY!!! Anyway, wondering if anyone else was getting banded in June?!?

Dr. Watkins. He and his staff are great, and I've heard pretty much nothing but good about him. How about you?

    calorie counter website?

Do you know how to sinc the phone app to the website?
  12. I submitted my paperwork March 19th and was informed that it would take about 3 - 4 weeks. So, like clockwork, I called my surgeon's office April 8th to see if they had heard anything. Apparantly the insurance company "misplaced" my paper work!!! So we re submitted April 8th. I figured I'd have to wait ANOTHER 3 weeks to hear anything back. By the 12th I received a phone call from my surgeon's office telling me I was approved. I of course could not believe it, so I called my insurance company, and had the lady repeat three times that I was approved!!!! LOL.....Surgery set for June 18th!

Looking for someone my age to talk to!

LOL I was just thinking the same thing  ......any mid-20's in here?
  14. YoungBlackAndBanded

    June anyone!?!?!??

Anemia won't stop you from surgery (or at least my surgeon hasn't told me that), I'd just rather enter into this with as little issues as possible, espcially if it's something I can fix... Plus I have to admit, the gitters may have had a LITTLE something to do with it.

    Eating Questions!!!!

Thanks to all that have posted. I guess the error in my judgement was that based on what the average person around me eats, i'm not eating a whole lot, but they're also not trying to lose 100 pounds!! If "normal" eating is 1/2 - 1 cup of food...then i definately blow that out of the park. Good insight! As an aside, anybody not exercise a whole lot and still able to get the weight off with the band?

    Eating Questions!!!!

Hey everyone!! I've been cruising these forums for a while and am very impressed with the progress made by many of you on here. I didn't find any answers to one of my burning questions, so I thought I'd register and post a question myself. I am considering getting the weight loss surgery, and have been doing some research for a few months now. A lot of people I talk to talk about how before the surgery, they ate A LOT of food (i.e a full big mac meal with room for desert, or something of the like). I don't THINK I eat a lot...so I am starting to question whether or not this surgery is right for me. I've struggled with my weight for most of my life. I am currently 245, 5'4 female. Can any of you give me some advice? What were your eating habits like before surgery, and after surgery? GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

    Who did you tell ?

I agree with both of you. This journey is extremely personal, especially if you've been struggling with your weight for most of your life. To tell or not to tell....that is the question that I've been asking myself lately. My immediate family knows, and that's about it just becuse I don't like talking about my weight in general. I say do whatever feels good in your soul!!!

    Help! Having MAJOR second thoughts....

Girlie!!! I am sooooo there with you!! I have been going back and forth for about 4 months now. Just today I got the call that my insurance was approved, and have my surgery date scheduled for May 14th!!! The whole think kindda feels like when you're flirting with a guy to see if their interested, but then when he is, you're kindda like OH SH!T....what now?! lol I have the same fear of what if i'm not successful at this? It's a huge deal, and if I do this, and even the lap band can't help me drop the pounds...then what? I know the band is as much psychological as it is physical, and I guess my advice to you (and me) is to make sure your miind's right!!
