  1. Another thing you might consider if you are having the port moved, is asking for the low-profile port, its much smaller than the regular port. Just a suggestion.
  2. I'm so sorry your lonely, but remember, you have us. Hang in there, you'll get thru this.
  3. Telly, you are rockin! You are such an inspiration! I am so ready to get back to the gym and get to pumping some weights. I go to the doctor tomorrow to have my weigh in and be submitted for insurance approval. I was doing the BFL program, but kinda gave up on it. I'm ready to get back in gear. I would love to be able to compete some day in womens body building/fitness. I am soooo impressed with you, words cannot even describe how much ahhhh I have for your progress. 100 pounds in 7 months, and you actually eat more than most bandsters, but the key is, you exercise. Not just exercise, you work your A$$ off in the gym (no pun intended). So you prove that exercise is a key element in succeeding with the band. You've got me convinced for sure!
  4. Thank you thank you thank you! I love to read that! I think for us newbies, we all wonder if it is a good decision to have the surgery. I don't even have a surgery date yet, and I keep asking myself if I am making a mistake. Your post was very positive and honest and I appreciate the time you took to write to us newbies! Thanks again!
  5. WOW - Wheetsin, you got a hellova deal! I can't believe the total price was just under $40,000, and the insurance negotiaed rate was $1800. Too bad they don't offer negotiated rates to out of pocket people. I think you have a great insurance plan! PS, very impressed with your stats too! you are rockin!
  6. I guess everyone has a different plan, depending on your employer. I was told by UHC that I just had to have a BMI of 40 to qualify, and my maximum out of pocket is $1,000.00. I have the 90%/10% plan is what they told me, so I would have to pay 10% with a miximum out of pocket of $1,000. Funny how everyone is different but with the same insurance. I feel lucky that I do have an insurance that will cover WLS as many do not.
  7. Yep, I think you are right Minnesotalady!
  8. Change your routine, change your diet? Are you exercising? If not, add some brisk walks. I was also told if you are eating the same thing every day, that you should switch up your menu. Just some thoughts, hope they help. I hate when the scales get stuck!
  9. The waiting is killing me. I go see the doctor on Wednesday, the 22nd. They will weigh me and send my paper work off too the insurance. I am just praying I get approved. I am so nervous about not getting approved. I'm so anxious over all this, I hate waiting! But I know there is nothing I can do to rush the process, I just need to learn to be patient - something I am not good at.

  11. That is wonderful, you truly are melting!
  12. I had to put my two cents in....about 10 years ago, my husband & I went thru the same thing and filed for divorce, after 3 or 4 months he wanted to work it out. It took a long time, we attened marriage counseling. We actually "started over", even dated, today he is a changed man, and I guess I'm a changed woman. We get along better than ever, and our marriage is the best it has ever been, we've now been married for 20 years and he truly is the love of my life. My advice is, if you have any hope that it "could" work, i think you should try, but that decision is all up to you. You know what you have been thru. I just wanted to say that I know that people can change. Divorce is hard, but being married to someone without the love & affection there is hard too. I hope you are taking care of yourself, you deserve to be happy & healthy, so please take care of you. hugs......
  13. I'm so sorry for your problems. since I'm not banded, I can't help you, hopefully someone with a little experience can jump in. So are they going to remove the band?
  14. Hey, cool about our stats! And WOW you have done amazing! Its so nice when you bandsters say that you feel you made the right decision. I think for all of us who are not banded yet, that is a question we keep asking ourself, "are we making the right decision". i love reading all the success people have, it makes me realize i'm making the right decision for me. I've searched and searched and I realize that this is not the easy way out, but I feel it is going to be a geat TOOL for my weight loss. Also, I appreciate the tip to exercise EARLY and not waiting so long, I will keep that in mind for sure. You guys have been so helpful to us "pre" bandsters.
  15. LOL - I wouldn't go that far, but I like to write poems when I am feeling down.....seems to help me.
  16. I've heard so many people say that they wish they didn't tell anyone about it. I've made the decision to keep it a secret from everyone except my DH. I was even going to "try" and keep it a secret from him, but I figure there is no way with the puncture holes. So I finally came clean to him last night. All this advice I am writing down. Especially about not being quick to get fills too. I need to remember that!

Congratulations! You are melting! I've heard a lot of bandsters say they can't eat salad. I'm glad to hear that there are some that can because I love salads and was worried I won't get to eat them after my surgery.
  19. Thank you!
  20. My new life begins with a lap band placed within I am nervous and anxious and not sure when When will I be at goal, when will I be thin? I tried and tried all my life to please the scales Yes tried to please them, ate nothing at all but to no avail My family thinks I’m crazy, some might think I’m lazy Just diet they say, and you’ll look amazing. No one understands the pain and anguish of being this way No one understands the strain it takes to breathe every day I am thankful for my family and friends you see, But this choice I’ve chosen is mine and for me. So be there for me and cheer me on to the finish line I promise you all I will get there this time!

  22. I found some at the a local heath food store. You should check out your local health food places, I bet they have some.
  23. I know at my grandmothers nursing home, they crush all her meds and mix them with applesauce or yogurt and she will take it, any other way, she spits it out. So, it must work. :peep:
  24. Danielle, I joined for the same reason you did, to gather information. This is a great place. I have my appointment with the doctor next week. I'm so pumped over it, I am just keeping my fingers crossed and holding my breath for the insurance to approve it...... Welcome!
  25. Thanks Kristi. Yes, I think I am going to use Dr. Gorospe just because it will be more convenient for fills. I know Gorospe is primarily a gastric Bypass doc, he only does Bariatric surgery now, he pushes the GB surgery, but told me i was a perfect candidate for lap-band.
