  1. Regina: I never said I eat spicy foods! Iam Italian and the sauce from some of our ethnic dishes were bothering me.( before and after surgery!) Also apple sauce which is not spicy. Most of you are from Texas and seem to love your Mexican foods! I have noticed that you all seems to eat them alot -- they would do a job on my stomach if I ever ate them post-op and now pre-op!

    You have the lost the most of us all and have been through the most surgery wise, but yet your still not happy? Why are you so hard on your self?

    Take a step back and look at all you have done this past year and how far you have come.

    You are no longer that 255 pound woman anymore, your this incredible sexy and beautiful skinny and healthy woman!

    You are inspiration for all of us who still have alot to lose and your only 5 pounds from goal and your unhappy!---- PLEASE STOP BEING SO HARD ON YOURSELF! NO MORE NEGATIVE TALK!

    So glad to hear you are feeling better! I was also thinking of going in for test since lately I have been feeling some tenderness and pain on my right side once again. It feels like when I had the gastro- intestinal virus a few months back and thought it was a gallbladder scare.

    It seems I have alot of trouble eating certain foods and Iam not talking about sugar and flour-- I mean sometimes even eating chicken or some tuna fish bothers me. Even vegetables that I love like broccoli and spinach bother me at times.

    I think that I did some damage to my esophagus because of alot of throwing up when I had bad reactions to certain foods!

    Thats one test I want done and also whatever they can do to test my band and the area around it.

    Iam eating right and exercising and but these things are bothering me so I want them checked out.

    Again, Iam glad to her that your okay Barb.

  3. Barb123: You are so very welcome! I was just updating since I have not been posting in a while. Iam gald to have encouraged you!

    Iam am really worried about about Barb 465 since I went through what she did and it was so scary and painful! I really hope she is okay-- please if any one hears from her please post!

    All really did was as I mentioned was go back to basics and go back to my eating plan that worked for me when I first had the surgery. I mentioned once before in a post that I follow Kay Sheppards food Plan from her book " Food Addiction The Body Knows".

    I have the eating disorder of Complusive Overeating and Sugar Addiction and was in Overeaters Anonymous for many years. This plan has always worked for me when I wanted to lose weight. I used it when I first had surgery before I had my first fill and I lost 40 pounds from June 2006 until my first fill in October of 2006.

    It is working for me again now since it forbids sugar and flour which for me are like poison! You do not have be in OA to follow the food plan and it is a good one for those who have had weight loss surgery.

  4. Hi Ladies:

    Its been a while since I last posted. I am doing really well and now Iam down 70 pounds!

    I found that when I went back to basics that the weight has been peeling off!

    Also going to the gym three to four times a week is helping both physically and mentally also.

    I found that with my band (speaking only for myself and not others!) I can not eat icecream, any beef of any kind, any bread of any kind, any sauces especially spicy-- they are my death sentence! What I mean is I spend my time in the bathroom throwing up big time if I eat any of these foods!!

    It was so bad at times I thought I was going to lose my band or really damage my throat!

    So when I went for my one year visit with my surgeon and spoke to him, my Nurse Practioner, and Dietician they all agreed to go back to basics and stay away from those foods if Iam getting such a bad reaction!

    I have to say the pay off of staying away from those foods has been a major weight loss and a smaller size in clothes and believe me Iam enjoying every minute of this! My size 18's are lose and I look and feel great!

    My son graduates from Pre-K on August 10th( he goes to aspecial school for his speech delay) and and my Mom turns 60 on August 9th. She is taking my son with her when she visits my brother in Cali from August 10th ( they leave that night) until August 15th.

    My husband and I are going to his parents upstate house in Lake George for that time to have a vacation of our own. I can not wait to hit the outlet stores and do some shopping!!

    Iam sorry to hear that so many of you are having so many problems with your band, please hang in there!

    Now that I made my year( 6.13.07) I am only required to go every three months to see my doctor (every doctor is different)so my next visit is in September. Maybe then I will look into getting a fill since my doctor felt I did not need one when I last saw him.

    These next few weeks will be very busy for me as my son finishes school and I go on vacation,so I will try to keep up on the post as best as I can.

    Barb465: I had a scare like yours this year, it ended up that I had something stuck in my band! I went to see my surgeon and he unfilled me and I had the swollow test done. It was back in Feb. if you go back in the post. I had to be totally unfilled and I had to stay like that for at least a month. That was so that my band could mend.

    You have to be careful what you eat! - It's just a warning since this happened to me and I know what you went through first hand and the discomfort. I felt like I was having a heart attack or something and totally scared my husband! I swear I have never thrown up like that before even while pregnant with my son!

    I hope your feeling better really soon! Stay on liquids like broth and lots of Water. Please keep us posted!

    Barb465: I wish I could afford your I-Phone, my brother and brother-in-law both purchased it and have said they love it! Iam still trying to figure out how to program my cell phone!-lolEnjoy it, from Iam told it's money well spent!

    This is going to be a "BAKED APPLE" week here in New York ! We are having a heatwave starting today and lasting all week ( Yuck!)

    I hate the hazy, hot and humdity! We have a ozone alert also!

  7. The only way I can get into this forum was to go and rejoin under a different name sicne I kept getting locked out under Leece Love 70. I used to have LeeceLove 70 all set up that all I had to do was just go to my AOl favorites and slick on the link and it would go to the site. Once there I could just click on subscribed threads. Well last week it kept telling me to sign in and wehn I did it kept telling me that I was putting in the wrong user name and pass word. I know I was not doing this since I have both of these written down on my bulletin board which is hung up right on top of my computer.

    After logging in five times it locked me out. So I had no choice but to rejoine under another name which is this one you see now.

    I HATE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO THIS SITE!

    Anyway :update:: I have lost another 5 pounds so now its 65 pounds down ! I think going bck to to the gym 3 to 4 times a week for 30-45 minutes at a time is really helping my weight loss and its really exciting me ! I have to change my tickers.

    So if you see post with this new name its me- Lisa ( LeeceLove 70) .

    I miss you all and I hope all are doing well.

  8. Well ladies Iam back on track and looking and feeling great! I have lost the weight that I had gained from the Bipolar medication changes and Iam now offically 60 pounds downs!( I do my next weekly weight in on Friday!).

    Since now that I made my one year, I am no longer required to go each month to see my Nurse Practioner. I have to go every three months. My surgeon does not do the fills, she does and I also see my dietican also at those visits(these cost $80 each since they are not covered under my insurance, they are out of network and I get reimburshed. My surgeon and the hospital are covered under my health plan of Empire BC/BS PPO of New York).

    Anyway, I do the "Food Addict the Body Knows" by Kay Sheppard, food plan which I had used when I was in Overeaters Annoymous- no sugar or flour. You can check the plan out on her website- Welcome to KaySheppard.com

    I also have gone back to gym with my doctors approval and I go almost everyday for a half hour or up to an hour. I do the treadmill and my goal is to get to 5 miles in an hour.

    As of yesterday I have done 2 miles in a half hour at 3.5 incline at 3.0 speed! The treadmill also tell you calories burned and said an Iam not lying on this one I burned 262 calories! I then went to Dunkin Donuts and enjoyed my Iced Coconut coffee with a little half and half and 2 equal thats my after workout treat!

    I have my dance cd's to listen to and Iam loving working out! I can feel the difference in my clothes and now Iam in a size 18!

    I had such joy over this weekend when I went to Avenue and they had the Red Tag Sale and I bought so much summer stuff. Capris, Bermuda Shorts, Tee Shirts, and Tanks. My arms actually look good in tanks!

    Also I had a friend who is a photographer take a professional head shoot of me and its now on my profile. She really made me look good with lots of make up -- which I normally do not wear and she did my hair(I dyed it again - Its now dark brown almost black-- my son was like Mommy you need to look like me -- My hair is not red!-lol)

    I have sent my family and friends pictures of me before and after to sow them that I made my one year of having my Lapband and they can not believe the changes in me!

    I really has been a wonderful year!

    I look at all of our before and after pictures and I have to say this June 2006 Crew really has changed so much in one year!

    We all look so great and Iam so proud of all of our hard work!

    Also it is great to see some newcomers to our group who just got banded -I hope we can give them good advice and support!

    I also hope that they have a great June 2007 group out there for them, that we have here!

    It took me a while but when I clicked on the pictures to make them bigger I figured out who eveyone was. I never knew what Barb 12 looked liked like, since I have not seen her post any recent pictures of herself. She was the missing link in the pictures!-lol

    You all look great and look like you had a blast!

    Well I guess when I go to my brother's Wedding in September I will have to post my pictures when I get back for you all to see!

    That's my one and only vacation this year and its costly -- 2 adults and 1 child from September 13- September 18th to San Francisco- Staying in Fisherman's Wharf. ( Airfare and hotel). Then add in spending money ! The Wedding is September 15th.

    I have to buy my dress and accessories for me. Iam going the end of August so I will have more weight off by then . My husband has to get a new suit and shoes. My son has to rent his little tux since he is the ring bearer.

    I love my bother dearly, but did he have to move to San Francisco for work in 2000 and end up staying out there!

    He was supposed to only be there for 2 years and now is more than 7!

    Then he fell in love with Christine ( His name is Danny).

    This is costing me so much money -- I swear I just paid off my credit card debut and I am almost back in debut with this trip !-lol

    But I guess you ladies know what Iam talking about! Have credit card will spend !--lol

  12. Since my son will be ending Pre-K soon my summer is getting really BUSY so I will be taking some time off of the board for now.

    Glad to hear that you all has such a great time in VEGAS!

    Wish you could have found some time to post at least one message on a hotel computer for those of us who could not go.

    It would have not made us feel so left out:think -(I really wish I was there since my hubby and son drove me so crazy this weekend!)

    I know how it is in VEGAS, so much to see, so little time! I was there in 1997, I stayed at the MGM Grand and I was there for a week and it was never enough time to see everything.

    Did I mention it was my honeymoon from my 1st marriage!--lol ( Thank God I had the courage to leave and divorce him-he was abusive towards me in every way!)

    He made us late for Sigfried and Roy and I was so pissed since those tickets at the time cost a fortune! We ended up missing the show! Needless to say there was no "NOOKIE" that night!

    At the time the hotel was adding something on and we had to go through a different entrance each time we went back in! Can you say pain in the ass! It was so dam hot in September, this was around September 27th until the first week in October of 1997!

    The one thing I loved was walking the strip and that they had the over pass walk way to go from one hotel to the other!

    I live in New York, but, NewYork/NewYork does not do us justice! They made it look nice though!

    Update on me :

    I have lost 10 pounds since my one year weight in on June 14th and I weigh now 235 which is 55 pounds down. So I got back what I gained with my Bipolar medication.

    I am back at the gym 3 to 4 times a week on the treadmill working on getting to 5 miles in a hour. Right now I can do 2 miles on 3.5 speed and incline of 3.0!

    Iam really working on getting down to 200 by September for my brother's wedding on September 15th!

    I will be in and out reading the post to keep updated.

  14. I'm also searching for a way to get "back on track" without doing another fill. I've thought about all sorts of things. Guess a fill might not be such a bad idea if I can just remember to follow instructions !!!

    We'll look for a way to log in while we're in Vegas.

    When I was in FA( food Addicts Anonymous) a few years ago before surgery we followed the food plan guidelines in Kay Sheppard's book " Food Addiction the Body Knows".

    When I was on it I had lost 35 pounds in three months!

    The Rules:

    *Avoid all forms of sugar: sucrose, frustose, corn sweetners, dextrose, honey, Syrup. Anything containing sugar such as soft drinks, cereals, seasoning, sauces etc.

    * Abstain from all forms of flour: Pasta, bread, pizza, crackers, bagles, pita bread, including wheat grains. Whatch for flour within products such as corn starch.

    * Eliminate all high fat-foods: nutsand fried foods.

    *Avoid all forms of chocolate including sugar-free.< /span>

    * Avoid all alcohol beverages!

    The food plan :

    Breakfast:

    1 Dairy Selection

    1 Protein Selection

    1 Grain Selection

    1 fruit Selection

    Lunch:

    1 Protein

    1 Raw Vegetable

    1 Cooked Vegetable

    Dinner:

    1 Protein

    1 Raw Vegwtable

    1 Cooked Vegetable

    1 Starchy Vegetable or Grain

    Before Bed:

    1 Dairy and 1 Fruit

    Daily:

    1 Tablespoon of Oil

    1 oz. Sauce( optional)

    1 Tablespoon Spice

    6 servings Sweetners(optional)

    I was following this plan right after I had surgery from June 13th until October 25 and lost 40 pounds! I then got my first fill on October 25th.

    Then I just followed my old Weidht Watchers plan books.< /span>

    Right now Iam going back to basics and Iam upping my exercise routine to three times a week at the gym.

    I hope that maybe this might also help you out.

    Barb- The hypnotist gives you CDs to take home as well, so I think even if it wears off after some time, you can play the CDs at home for a boost. It's worth a shot to get these last pounds off.

    Does everyone else have to log in every time they visit LBT? I do! Even if I say "Remember Me". I never had to do that in the past. I know they are trying to improve the site, but all the changes are frustrating!

  16. <p>Hi Ladies:</p> <p> </p> <p>As I mentioned since I made my one year on June 13th and lost 45 pounds, I set a new goal to get as close to 200 as possible for September. September 15th is my brother's wedding in San Francisco and I wanna look really good!</p> <p> </p> <p>I weighted myself today and Iam now down to 240 so I lost 5 pounds and its now 50 lost !</p> <p> </p> <p>Also as I mentioned on Monday I went back to the gym and Iam loving it!</p> <p> </p> <p>Today I asked one of the trainers to show me how to program the special weight loss cycle on the treadmill. You put in your weight , the trail you want to follow, the incline, speed and the how long you want to workout for.</p> <p>She put all the information in for me and then left me on my own.</p> <p> </p> <p>It was cool, we set it for an hour, at a speed of 3.0,incline went from 2.0 up to 3.5 and I was on a hiking trail. It monitored my heart rate which for a 37 years old is 130-140, I went up to 136 so I was in range.</p> <p> </p> <p>I ended up after the hour doing 2.5 miles!<img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/clap2.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Clap2" smilieid="217" class="inlineimg" /></p> <p> </p> <p>Then once again I walked home only because I craved coconut iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts!</p> <p> </p> <p>It feels so good to be really working out again like this!     I wish I was going also, but as I mentioned my brother is getting married on September 15th in San Francisco so that is my trip this year. For three people from September 13th -18th it probably cost as much as the Vegas trip!-lol

    Iam proud to say my psycho doc ( for my meds for my Bipolar) finally gave me the okay to use my gym membership again ! ( I had to put it on a medical hold when I had problems with my medications!)I could not go since some of the medication I was on impairs the ability to use machinery or drive. Some cause dizziness or are a controlled substance. I take Wellbutrin Xl and the dosage Iam on cause dizzness sometime. Topamax impairs the ability to drive and use machinery ( I could not use even a threadmill!) The newest one Iam on that is working extremly well is called Klonopin and I take it twice a day. This is a controlled substance so of course I have to be careful of the side effects of this one!

    Needless to say the exercise I was doing was walking so I was so excited when Saturday he gave me a note to give to the gym to lift the medical hold on my membership!

    The gym is a mile walk from my house I used my pedometer to clock the milage. Then I used the treadmill at 3.5 speed and a incline of 3. I manage in a half hour to do 2.9 laps. Iam still not sure what that means! Also the rest of the information about calories burned and so on went across the screen so fast after the half hour was done,Iam not sure how much I burned, but I know I did a great workout since my whole tee shirt was wet from sweat!

    I think between walking to the gym and the treadmill 2.9 laps I KICKED SOME ASS TODAY IN THE EXERCISE DEPARTMENT!

    It also helped that I was listening to my walkman tapes I made of my favorite dance songs that get you moving :

    * These are just the songs I had on the two tapes with me that I took to the gym. I have tons of tapes and Cd's since my hobbies are Music Dancing and Books! Also Iam from New York and while I like all types of music from Andrea Bocelli to some ZZ Top. I prefer old Disco and Dance Music also I love Billy Joel .

    So Iam offically stepping up Workouts starting today !

    Have fun in Vegas girls!-----REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS STAYS IN VEGAS !----- but please gives us some of the dirt !----lol

  18. My computer is crawling (again).

    DS is officially moving in with his girlfriend and her 3 children this weekend (I hope they become my grandchildren someday - I'm claiming them anyway). I am very proud of his willingness to take on the responsibility.

    Pinky if your anything like my mom, when I finally had my son and gave her a grandchild she was over joyed and has to this day spoiled him rotten ! Wether they are your biological grandkids or not enjoy them as if they were your own!

    My younger brother who is 34 is finally getting married after dating his girlfriend for 5 plus years on September 15th. My mom is a nagger and and she nagged him- when are you going to get engaged all your friends are married for the longest time.

    Since I am the oldest by three years and she has the grandkid in my son she might not be nagging right away for the grandkid from him!
