I think you are are right about them all being from the same area and them being inclusive of all of those of us that are not local. It seems so unfair. Iam probably the only one on here that is from New York! If wish that I had met other New Yorkers on here and started a thread. I posted on a few of the New York post on here but none are from my area, they are mostly from Long Island or Manhattan. ( Iam from the East Bronx near City Island and the Throggs Neck and Whitestone Bridges.) Thanks Morning for understanding how I am feeling and not being judgemental towards me. Lisa

I was banded on June 13th and joined this thread in October so maybe it was discussed before that, but it was planned and booked recently, and there was no post asking everyone or even a mention that it was talked about months ago. Iam sorry If I am comming off terrible, its not my intent. I just really was feeling left out since no one asked me and I have been posting here and have been on here for a while now. If I came in to late to be asked, again Iam sorry it just seemed to me that only a choosen few were asked. Next year I would like to be included in the planning, thats if I did not offend anyone or step on anyone's toes here. Again that was not my intent, I should have asked more questions before posting those comments. I just was feeling hurt and left out and I guess all of us feel that way from one time or another. I fell like I have have friends here and believe me with my Bipolar and having this surgery, not everyone understands where Iam comming from. Its hard to talk to anyone especially about my Lapband since none of my friends understand. No everyone of my friends and even people in my family were supportive of me getting this surgery. I was very overjoyed to finally find this site and forum after being on ObesityHelp for year and not really realting to anyone on there. Most of them on their have had RNY surgery and can not relate to LapBand people. Not everyone likes when others express their opinions. If I offended anyone here, I will leave this thread and not bother the Junbies ever again. I just felt that I needed to get this one thing off my chest that was bothering me . Lisa

Hi ladies. Yesterday my husband paid for membership to Planet Fitness a gym near my house for me as an early Valentine gift. Iam so excited for this since I was walking outside and doing exercise DvD's at home. The only thing is yesterday afternoon while out I had a veggie slice of whole wheat pizza( I asked dietican if I could since I used to be a Pizza Addict and she said as long as it has veggies on it. But only once in a while as a treat) I regretted it big time - It got stuck in my band ! I had the worst night ever until it finally came up. I exprienced nausea, heartburn and vomiting big time! I swear I thought my band slipped since I felt so horrible and I was looking up the symptoms. I have had this past week alot of the symptoms that Socialgirl mentioned and it scares me alot so I am going to call my surgeon tomorrow to set up an appointment to have my band checked out. I did have the flow test done when I had my first and only fill back in October. Maybe its time to have the test done again. Socialgirl if you read this please can you send me a private message describing your symptoms more and what the surgeon did. I will keep all updated! As I read about your Vegas trip more and more,I really wish that I was asked to go. I would have saved up for it, I love Celine Dion and would have loved to have seen her in concert. It sounds like the trip was planned by the older members in this forum and not may of the younger ones were asked. I could be wrong about this, if Iam please forgive me. I think maybe next year we should try to include and ask everyone where they would like to meet in June ( if possible). This is a forum for us to support each other and express our opinions, I hope that I did not step on anyone's toes here. Its just that whenver the Vegas trip is mentioned by a certain someone she always says "All of us are going"! Well frankly not all are going, some of us were never even asked:(! Pinky and To All : I have always been an Emotional Eater- Complusive Overeater and was in OA on and off since 1992 before I had my LapBand surgery. Frankly speakly it has been a BIT** to give my old best friend MRS. SUGAR! She was and still is my comfort when Iam emotional.(Now I go the sugar-free route!) I have Bipolar so its extra hard for me with my mood swings. I totally got Pinky's post about sugar and thank you for admitting and being honest about what you did. I HAVE TO ALSO ADMIT WHEN I WAS OFF THE BAND WAGON I DID THE FOLLOWING: 1.MADE MY SON CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES AND ATE SOME OF THE RAW COOKIE DOUGH. 2. WHEN AT A DINER WITH MY HUBBY HAD A SCOOP OF HIS ICECREAM SUNDAE. 3. HAD SOME POTATO CHIPS OUT OF MY SONS'S SNACK BAG. My post was sort of a reminder to us all that even when we go off the band wagon, we have to realize that we really need to start over and re-read the guidelines that our surgeons and dieticans gave us. AS I ONCE READ SOMEWHERE: WE ARE NOT PERFECT BUT PROGRESSING ! ( I think it was in OA). I THINK THAT'S A GOOD SLOGAN FOR US ALL TO FOLLOW- WHAT DO ALL THINK? LOVE, SUPPORT AND LOTS OF HUGS, LISA

I keep reading in the post about people eating icecream and chips and even candy and I question this! I was given a booklet pre-op and post-op of the foods to eat as a Lapband patient and none of these were on the approved list. If they were ever mentioned they were mentioned as foods to totally avoid! Aren't these the foods that caused us to gain weight and seek out LapBand Surgery in the first place? I was told post-op to NEVER EAT SUGAR AGAIN! (Iam down 55 pounds from 290 to 235 banded on Jun 13th with only one fill of 1cc in October.) So when I want icecream or something sweet I go the sugar-free way such as: Sugar free Icepops, and sugar free-chocolate pudding. Also sugar free and fat-free Hot Chocolate. I drink a Designer Whey Chocolate flavor protein shake.( I also like the Vanilla and other flavors of this shake) I use sugar free all natural peanut butter in my shake when I use the chocolate flavor one.( It taste like Reeses to me !-lol) If I want candy its always a protein bar, I just look to make sure its sugar free or has the lowest possible sugar count that my dietican will approve for me to eat.( Atkins and Kashi have some good ones!) Its not very hard to find sugar free items and I get most of them at health food stores or online at the Susan Maria Leach- Bariatric Eating Site. I am not trying to criticize anyone here, its just an observation that I have noticed in the post. Believe me I cannot afford to criticize anyone since we are all in the same boat : LAPBAND JUNE BANDSTERS! LOVE AND HUGS TO ALL, LISA

I was trying to log my food for today into Fitday and I am having trouble. Here it is : I had so far for breakfast: Designer Whey Protein Vanilla 1 scoop With one cup of Skim Plus Milk 1 1tsbp of Smart Balance no sugar Peanut Butter 4 Ice Cubes 2 pkgs equal in blender for 2 minutes. I had problems putting the Whey Protein Shake in and then I tried looking it up and it said O search. So I thinking my little notebook might be better to use as a food log. Lisa

Hi all! Iam doing okay I guess since January was a very difficult month for me. As I had mentioned I started on a new Bipolar medication called Depakote and was unsure how I would react to it. Well it is working well for me as far as my mental health is concerned, but I found out that I had to make a very difficult decision about wether to continue using the medication. The difficult decison was weither to have another child or not since this medication causes server birth defects such as brain damage, spinal befa, deformation etc. My physco doctor gave me this medication to start on my birthday Jan 6th and told me what type of birth control do you use. He told me you need a permanent form of birth control and advised me not to have any more children since my mental health is more important. Needless to say I have cried about this and it has not been made easy since one of my good friends just gave her son a sibling shortly after I was advised not to have another child. I went for my 7 month follow up on Jan 25th ( got my period that morning) feeling really down and depressed. I had been eatting food with Sugar and not really eating slowly and vomiting alot over the last few weeks before the appoinment. I have been a mess. I weighted in at 235 which is 55 pounds down so my dam scale was wrong telling me 228! I know that PMS bloat weights something but I was just not into this appointment. Iam now watching what I eat and exercising more, but, I guess like losing a chid, Iam going through a morning period. My mental health is important and Iam working very hard to find the right medication to help my Bipolar. God has Blessed me with a beautiful and healthy 4 years old son who I enjoy every day. Maybe having another child was not in the cards that God dealt for me, but I will accept whatever path he has choosen and I will get through this. Thank you for all your love and support that you have given me in the past. The women and( some men) are such a great group and give of themselves so freely. It feels so great to be able to come here and find support, love and friendship . Lisa Lisa

  11. :help: Hi there all, Iam Lisa and I am 4 months+ post op. I had my surgery at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, Westchester County,New York. They have a support group that only meets on the first Wednesday of the month. I have not been able to attend yet since I live in the Bronx and I do not drive. The meeting is at 7pm and my husband does not get home from work until 7 and I have no one to watch my 4 years old son. I wondering if anyone who lives in New York in the Bronx or lower Westchester Region ( New Rochelle,White Plains, etc.) know of any support group meetings that I might be able to go to that have a better scheduled time.( Nights ore weekends) For my meetings I have used Obesity Help, but Iam not finding what I really need there. Iam so glad that today I found this site that is all about Lapband , Iam looking foward to making may alot of a new banded friends. Thanks for everyone's love and support, Lisa

Hi all! Well I weighted my self today to see if I had lost any weight, since with this new medication I do not feel hungry that much. Well with all the peeing and pooping I have been doing,I lost 2 pounds since Monday night since I started the Depakote for my Bipolar! Iam now 228 from 290! Iam in the 220's - yah! This adjusting to the medication has not been easy, but so far it seems to be working well. I feel that my mind is more clearer and I have more good energy to do things. I also bought and started reading "Dr.Gott's No Flour, No Sugar Diet." It has good guidelines for those who want to have a foodplan with no sugar and no flour. I found it to be a similar plan to the Weight Watcher Core food plan- but much more in dept! I always follow my dieticans guidelines but she does encourage me to do research on my own to find whatever food plan works for me. She has advise me to have three meals and two planned snacks a day. The snacks are to consist of fruit or sugar free jello, sugar free pudding or sugar free ice pops. I was given a booklet at my first consult of what to eat pre-op and then a booklet before surgery of what to eat post-op up to 8 weeks. Each month I get a sheet of a 7 day example plan to follow with food ideas. I hope all are doing well, hang in there ladies! Love and Hug, Lisa:biggrin1:

Thanks Melissa, about the only good side effect is the pooping and peeing I weighted myself this morning and Iam 228 so its now 62 down. This medication is also giving me great nights sleep- I take it and an hour later Iam out cold-lol I called the doctor since he wanted me to take this medication ( Depakote 250 mg) in the morning and before bed. I told him I can not take this during the day since I stay home with my 4 year old son after he comes home from pre-k during the day. He told me just take one at night this week, then next week take two at night ( thats going to be 500mg of Depakote at night - Iam going to be out cold sooner until my body gets used to this suff!). Iam really nervous but so far this stuff has given me a clearer mind and more energy, so I guess it working! Hang in their PinkyLee, I had that happen briefly to me before I got my first and only fill in October. I was doing so good on my own and lost 40 pounds with no fill and then I saw some pounds creeping up on me. I will keep you all posted on how this medication thing is going. Love and Hugs, Lisa

:nervous Hi ladies! Iam doing pretty good considering I was started on a new Bipolar medication called Depakote on Monday night. The only side effect is it makes my real groggy and it puts me out cold and gives me the best nights sleep. Also I poop and pee all day ( great way to lose weight !). Its taking adjusting, but my doctor thinks this and the Serequel that Iam now taking will be the right medication for me, and he can finally take me off the wrong ones that I had been previously prescribed ( by my old doctor)like Wellbutrin, Lexapro and Topamax that have not been working for the Bipolar. Your trip to Vegas sounds great, I wish I could go but money is so tight and I have so much going on this year. Feb 16 is my Dad's 60th birthday, March 27th is our 5 year Wedding Anniversary, June 13th is my one year Surgery date anniversary, August 9th is my Mom's 60th Birthday, September 15th my brother gets married in California and my son starts Kindergarten in September also and he turns 5 on September 19th 5! Is that enough going on is 2007? I have been to Las Vegas and I loved it, I stayed at the MGM Grand in 1997. I hope all are doing great, Iam still steady at 60 down ( 230 from 290) with only one fill in October of 1cc. I have my next appointment on Jan 25th and Iam hoping to be near the 220 mark. Love and Hugs, Lisa

Hi all, I hope that 2007 has treated you all well so far. Tomorrow is my 37th birthday and I can finally say that I am looking forward to this birthday so much, since it my first birthday that I will not be depressed about my weight! It was last year at this time when I decided that I wanted to get a full physical and seriously look into WLS surgery. February was when I saw and met with my first Dr., who I did not decide to use. Iam now 60 pounds down and it feels so great! On December 30th was my brother's engagement party and there were relatives I have not seen in a long time and I got so many compliments on how great I looked -I was on cloud 9 all day! I have really stepped up my exercise with walking almost everyday for 45 minutes after I put my son on the school bus in the morning during the week and giving myself the weekend off. Here in New York its been so mild in the 50's and 60's. I swear I do not think we are ever getting winter! lol My husband gave me my Christmas/Birthday present of a makeup makeover at Sephora! It was so great and I now have cheeckbones ! I also can not wait to go shopping at the Avenue since I recieved so many gift cards for Christmas. Iam now almost into a size 20! Having this surgery has changed my life and now almost 7 months later Iam can say " IAM LOOKING SO FOWARD TO THE NEW YEAR!" LOVE AND HUGS, LISA

Hi all ! I need to update since On Thursday I had my 6 month checkup with my Nurse NP. Iam happily down 57 pounds Iam now 233 from my highest of 290! She also told me that I have lost in 6 months 31% of my body weight! She said that when they first met me in April and made predictions for my surgery, that she had predicted that I would be where Iam now at one year, so Iam way ahead in my weight lose! Also since my brother and his fiance are here for the holidays (they live in California) Iam helping my brother look through photo albums for pictures for use in his Wedding Video( they use childhood up until the engagement ). We found old pictures of me and we could not believe the difference in my face and body as a whole! Just from last year's Christmas pictures,I look like a new woman! Iam so looking forward to 2007, well first its a New Year and second my birthday is January 6th and I will be 37! I hope everyone has a Great Holiday and "SLIMMER 2007! Love and Hugs, Lisa :messenger2: :messenger2:

Lisa Hall's Blog from Obesity Help: posted 12/14/06: IT HAS BEEN 6 MONTHS POST OP! WOW! Yesterday was my 6 month anniversay of my surgery and" 2nd Birthday" as I call it. I have changed in so many ways both physically and emotionally. Ian not the same person anymore. I look back at my day of surgery pictures and I cry for that 290 pound woman I was, she was so depressed and out of touch with the world around because of her weight. Looking Back it was not an easy journey : The first doctor's office I went to see for the consul Dr. A (I will not mention his name here) told me that they took my insurance and made me schedule appointments for pre-op testing and told me he took my insurance over and over only to find out the day before the testing, that he was never even in my network to begin with. Also that I would have to pay all of this out of my own pocket! Needless to day the secretary recieved a call from me and I chewed and spit her head out -lol The only good thing that came out of that was that I met my good friend Robin Z( I love you Girl!) Then in March I met to Dr. Davis' seminar at Lawrence Hospital and I said this is the Doctor that I want to do my surgery and I made my appointment for my counsul the next day. I had my first appoinmet On April 4th and then in May all my testing was done. The whole month of May was the waiting game period where the paperwork is turned in and I had to wait for Empire Blue Cross and BlueShield PPO to approve me. I was appoved on June 1 and given June 13th as my surgical date. On June 13th I had my surgery at 12:30 pm and I was home the same day by 5:30pm that night. The first few weeks were a major adjustment with the only liquids and peree. Was it fun? Iam not going to lie --Hell no! I did learn to like pureed Chicken in Chicken Broth by week three and I became addicted to sugar free icepops which to this day I still love! Do I have any problems with my band ? Yes - Since I have had my first fill on Ocotber 25 after 4.5 months I throw up once or twice a week . I still have to remember to get slowly and chew every bit at least 10 times or more. I also had food stuck in my band recently and it was not fun -- I learned that I can not have Spring Mix lettuce-- it is to leafy and had raw vegetables in it! My measurements have changed since that April appoinetment : Waist from 53 inches to 40 Hips from 60 inches to 50 Neck from 19 inches to 14 Iam was a size 32 and now Iam a size 22. My shoe size was almost a 8 and now Iam a comfortable 7 womans. My bust went from a 40D to 38 C( My hubby was a little said -he does not want me to lose the girls-lol) I have become much more active and can dance again which was very hard to do at 290 and which I love to do now at 233. I GOT BACK MY HEALTH AND MY LIFE AND TTHAT IS THE BEST GIFT ANYONE CAN EVER GIVE ME! LOVE AND HUGS, LISA HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL! <FORM id=dformmlbyadform name=dformmlbyad onsubmit="__dataform_on_submit('dformmlbyadform');" action=/member/booklover70/uzone,blog/blog_id,43665/action,comments/blog_post_id,23599/ method=post> </FORM>

Hi all! From reading all the post lately it sounds like the holidays is going to be tought for all of us. I was finally properly diagnosed ( after almost 2 years of being uncertain ) with Bipolar Type 2 which is the less serious type. I had the current medication upped for the holidays to take the edge off. I am not the violent Bipolar type that throws or hurts anyone, I am very vocal and get very nasty. I can go from calm to excitable very quickly- I guess you can say Iam very high strung! I will be starting on new medication in the New Year! Depression is hard to life with but has gotten easier now that my weight is under control. I am learning to live with the fact that my Biploar is genetic and was passed down by a family member. I have had it all my life and with the right medication I will be able to control it and live my life to the fullest. As for the onelader I have not been there since 1990 when I was 20 years old! Iam now 36 and will 37 on January 6th, I guess maybe by my one year surgery date( June 13th) I will be in the onelanders! Right now we all need to support each other throught the holidays and remember we are all in this together ! Love and hugs, Lisa:girl_hug: :kiss2:

Hi all! I went to see my primary doctor since I needed to get my recent blood work results and my blood pressure and cholestrol medication refilled. I found out I have low blood sugar and that my iron was a little low but not low enough for medication. The big surprise since my weight loss was that my cholestrol is not going down even though Iam on Zocor! She said that my liver needs to adjust to the changes since my surgery. I was like Iam eating really healthy what is the problems ? Has this happened to anyone else? Other than this all my blood work came back fine and she gave me a clean bill of health and I was weighted again and now I weight 233 which puts me down to 57 pounds down! I have almost reached my Christmas goal already! The only thing is that Iam still fighting a terrible upper respitatory infection and Iam back on Zithramax for the next 7 days! This dam weather here in NY is not helping. It was 70 degrees here on Thursday and then 65 on Friday and today 40 and we might get some flurries Sunday night into Monday they are predicting. No wonder Iam still sick!!:sick I also have one question what is Onelander? I see it alot in posts on here! ? Take care and I hope every one is enjoying the holiday seaon. Oh and do not hate me -IAM ALL DONE AS OF TODAY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING !! ( Thank God I did some shopping online -My U.P.S man is going to love me!---lol Lisa

Hi all! Last night was the night from hell! For the first time since my very first fill on 10/25/06 after 4.5 months, I had food stuck in my band! I did not know what was going on but I was throwing up non- stop for 45 minutes! My husband called the Doctor after 20 minutes of non- stop vomitting. The Nurse Practioner called back and told me I had food stuck in my band and not to eat or drink anything for the rest of the night. She said if the vomiting does not stop to go to the emergency room! I had to tell her everything I ate that day and found out that the Spring Mix Lettuce I used to eat before surgery I can no longer eat - its to leavy and might of had some small raw vegetables in it!:cry Needless to say today Iam staying on liquids since my throat is so sore and my stomach just feels queasy. I guess I still have to get used to this fill even though it is only 1cc . I am having some problems with food, I am eating slowly and chewing but, Iam throwing up at least two times a week since I got it in October. I know from reading here that others have said that once you get your first fill nothing is that same in your eating. They were so right! Iam hanging in there! Barbara: I had the same experience that you had with your grandaughter but with my son, he told me " Mommy your getting skinny and you look so pretty"! ( He is 4 years old, guess he is starting early) Also Iam now a size 22 down from the very high 32 I was ! It feels great to be down 51 pounds from 290 to 239!:clap2: Love and hugs,:kiss2: Lisa
