  1. I don't know about the shortness of breath stuff but maybe you could make some kind of smoothie with greek yougart. Its got a crazy lot of Protein in it. Maybe some yougart in the blender with some artificial sweetner and orange extract (extract of your choice but I love orange). Just a thought. If your doc says its okay you could blend some fruit up in there. My guess would be walking would help the shortness of breath. Take care Stacey
  2. I think we have had this discussion recently but I can't find it. Anyway....I'm curious how long all of your doctors said you have to wait to drink, and then what should you have? I know not beer because of the carbination. What about vodka and cranberry. I'm not a wine drinker. Do we get drunk real fast???? :ack2: Just wondering about everyones experience. Thanks Stacey
  3. I don't know if its "normal" or not, but I notice that some days I can eat 4oz and some days only 2. I do think that individual anatomy plays into things. I am tall, 5'7'', and I presume that my sleeve is a bit longer than someone who is 5'. Just a guess. I don't think you have to worry about not loosing though. No matter what you will not be able to "over eat". Just stick to healty stuff and stop eating when you feel full or tight and you will loose. Take care stacey
  4. Your gonna do great. Can you believe its finally here. I know those days leading up are nerve wracking. I'm so happy for you. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the sleeve (once you recover that is) Post as soon as you can Stacey
  5. Yea.... I knew it would happen:bananapowerslide: Its just impossible that with as few calories as we are taking in that we arn't burning fat. It just has to work!!!! I'm still scared to get on the scale. I'm waiting till the 21st because that is the one month mark. I can tell I'm not looseing right now and I know that number will do a mind !$#@ on me. take care Stacey
  6. my doc said to let the toradol disolve in my mouth. He probably meant sublingual. Can you get a sublingual NSAID OTC?
  7. So... now you have to let us know when the scale moves again. Maybe when yours moves I'll dare to weight again!!!!! I'm too scared right now... it will absolutly crush me. Hang in there. Theres no way this cant work
  8. OKAY its settled!!!!!! Next month i am taking ibuprophine!!!!!!
  9. Ahhhhh.... so the toradol is a more benign form of NSAID??? Well it worked so I'm a beliver. :lol4:
  10. Well... you probably don't need one more person weighing in and saying the same thing but be assertive. Listen to your body and get it what it needs. IV fluids... something besides that crazy stomach medicine.... a pain reliever that won't hurt your sleeve... I hope your better soon stacey
  11. YEA JacK!!!!!! It gets better every day!!!!
  12. I tried to post the links for you but I couldnt figure out how to make them active... anyway... there's a thread started by oregondaisy called "good article on weight loss stalls" She posted one and then below her swiftflow posted one. There is some info about glycogen storage etc in the second one that was very interesting. The scale has tremendous power over me. That number can make or break my day. I came home from the hospital and weighed myself everyday. I swore to myelf that the first day I didn't loose I would put the scale away because that marked the begining of the inevitable stall. I only lost 14 lbs before this started. So far I have been able to stay away. The scale takes four batteries and I have them hidden around my room. If I was weighing every day and saw those stalled numbers I think I would be miserable..... I would probably fall into my old behavior and feel so defeated that I would throw in the towel and start finding ways to "eat around" my sleeve as I raised my fists to the heavens. I guess what I'm saying is ....put your scale away and trust your sleeve. The equation is valid. Energy in - Energy out = lost weight. So.... I know i'm sounding a little preachy but i hope it helps.
  13. good call. I hope I'm that reasonable when I'm tempted
  14. Well... I don't know what Dr Aceves says but I'm pretty sure my doc would say liquid only. You could stick it in the blender.
  15. Its perfectly normal. This is such a life changing thing... a thing that we've wanted for sooo long. I was certain that something was going to go wrong. My family was going to stage some intervention (they don't know, I'm 44 but my mother thinks I'm 10)... my plane was gong to be delayed.... there was going to be a problem with the loan....It just didn't seem possible that there was an answer to my prayers and I could actually obtain it. When I woke from surgery I was in pain but I had a little satisfied grin on my face. I remember having the thought "It's done...no matter what happens now I will loose this weight" I think its just because its such a huge thing for us... we have tried everything... it almost seems impossible that we could actually get our wish. Take Care Stacey
  16. so good to hear from you driver. I'm glad you're home. Its fantastic that your already on soft foods. I was afraid you would have to be on clear liquids for extended time. YEA!!!!!
  17. I was told 60 days and I can quit. I Forgot to take it last night and then again before work this morning. I was in pain by the end of the day and raced home to get a pill. I hope its not forever. I never had reflux before
  18. Good call on the hydration thing. Thats the one thing I don't get about out patient. I would have never been able to hydrate without my IV
  19. Okay... when posting on this thread before I was Pre-sleeve. I am now Post Sleeve and have struggled a bit with sleeping. I decided to test our carbohydrate theory and low and behold... If I eat a few bites of apple sauce before I go to bed I sleep like a baby. Stacey
  20. Okay.. I'm only two weeks out but I've been DYING to post something. I have worn nothing but sweat pants since surgery because I took a full two weeks. I'm back at work now and the cloths I was busting out of before are now baggy. It's no bikini and board shorts... but I'm on my way:lol0:
  21. Sorry buddy... that first 24 is rough. I was in the hospital for 48 and wouldn't have wanted to be at home. I had IV fluids so didn't have to worry about hydration till 48 hrs out. Walk Sip Walk Sip.... its the same old advice everyone gives but there's a reason it gets stated again and again. At about 48 hrs you'll be a million times better. Youll be yourself (well, actually a smaller version of yourself) before you know it. Take Care Stacey
  22. Okay... I knew it would happen... the time has arrived when I need massive ibuprophine or I am incapacitated (nausea and vomiting at times). My PCP perscribed for me some codine and muscle relaxers figuring it would be safer to stay away from the NSAIDS at least till my stomach completely heals. Needless to say I was knocked on my A@#. Okay it works... but I cant function. Then I remembered my pain meds left over from surgery. I had a whole box of Mexican Toradol left. I took some and it really helped. So, I googled toradol today and IT"S A NSIAD!!!! what gives? Why whould they give you NSAIDS after surgery if your not allowed to have them for life? :confused1:
  23. I didn't go to Aceves, but I did go to Mexico (Dr Rodriguez). If I ever have to have my tonsils out I want to go back.... much better care than I would have gotten in the US.
  24. HEY.... congrats. Its a strange time after surgery. Evey time I gulp a little too much I am convinced I have sprung a leak. I'm 2 weeks out and still no hole in my stomach. I concure.... breath and walk and take teeney tiney sips. Its worth calling your doctor though.... just to set your mind at ease.
