    Drinking while eating???

give it time....dont feel discouraged please! once you reach restriction "bandste hell" will seem like a distant memory. restriction will force you to slow down, chew more, not drink and you will get to the point where the taking just one more bite will not go down at all! try to spend your evenings reading, exercising or talking on the phone. during my months of trying for restriction every time I had the urge to snack at night (oh and I am a night owl and loooove to eat at night) I would do squats or sit ups or pushups or a workout video. I guess it was "punishment" haha pm me if you need some support! you can do it...just hang in there!!!

    What do you do??

call my mom or my sisters. I find I want to munch in the car...or if the desire is really there to get something through the drive thru then i'll get on the phone. works every single time!

    flu shot

had the swine flu so bad last year along with bi-lateral pneumonia....so yes...i will get it!
  5. have you had your thyroid checked or your hormones? weight loss greatly affects both of those. every 15 lbs I lose I have to get my thyroid meds adjusted because I feel the exact same way! also, estrogen is stored in our fat cells and when we lose weight (especially fast) the estorgen gets depleted. I feel like a new woman when I get my hormone therapy. please talk to your pcp or a hormone specialist....your bariatric doc may not be able to take the time to fully explore what's going on. btw both those things are figured by an easy blood test. hope you're feeling better soon!! keep me posted on if you go to the doc and what he says

    quinoa

has anyone ever cooked quinoa? what did you make? today for lunch I made it like the directions on the back and added a bit of garlic and onion powder to the water. the I sauteed some small salad size shrimp and edemame. it was pretty good....def filled me up but was a TON of protein!
  7. I had my third fill an got .6 cc's and felt great. two days later my hubby had emergency surgery and my monthly visitor came all on the same day. let me tell you i was TIGHT! i couldn't get anything down that had to be chewed. I went on clear liquids for three days to help with any swelling. on the third day i could not even get water down.i went in for an unfill an what he did is make me drink some water (it would just sit right behind my sternum) and he removed fluid until i could feel it pass....which was .3 cc's....now i feel great!! my doctors rule of thumb is is you can get fluids down ok, then don't worry about eating for a few days to a week....but if you start having issues with your water intake you are headed for a bad place. i agree with the above posters, give it a few days on just liquids... hope you get to feeling better! :smile2:

    quinoa

now my label of quinoa is for one serving size of 2.6 TBS (such and odd # haha) and it is less than 200 calories 24 carbs and 16 g of protein....interesting the different labels....i am not doing "low carb" persay, but pasta, bread and rice gets stuck every time I try to eat it....so I have cut those carbs out, but not becasue of my "diet".....i was getting really bored with my dinners so in my look for something different I found quinoa. i've lost 60 lbs since may so I am quite happy with the progress....35 more to go!

    quinoa

tracy-i am pretty tight and struggle with rice and pasta and this was just fine for me....had more trouble with the edemame actually. thanks for the different ideas. I wasn't sure how else to prepare it.
  11. I use a seat belt extender every day. the seat belts fit around me just fine, no problems...but I have such a short torso that w/o the extender I feel like I'm gooing to get decapited if I crash.... so, it would help make the belt fit better

    is ibuprofen ok?

my doc said that the ocassional use of ibuprofin was ok. I have an old shoulder injury that I need ibuprofin for sometimes....and same for menstrul pain. this last period was so aweful that my band closed soooo tight I could only drink water for three days....no pills were going to make it down so I took the liquid pain medicine from my surgery....helped me sleep that's for sure

    abs crunch with a band?

there is no ab workout more intense than the p90x ab routine, and i do it just fine! This should be no problem at all for you
  14. there is so much sadness and death! I hope they get counseling while on the ranch....they will never suceed unless they get some help! I cry every single week right along with them! watched it for the first time not feeling sorry for myself! such a good feeling....sat watching drinking my water instead of a bowl of ice cream...
  15. did anyone happen to watch the series premair of mike and molly? I thought it was so funny! how many of us have families and friends like that? I enjoyed watching it tonight.....cant wait for biggest loser to start tomorrow!!!

    Is it true

yes! one month I lost 1 lb....and went down a whole pants size....mostly depends if you're exercising or not....
  17. I have been banded since 5/20 and have had no problems really. PB'd once on a piece of chicken and had to "refund" a pill once too. I had a small fill last wed and felt pretty snug but was able to get stuff down. fastforward to yesterday....i can get water down but that is it! not even a proetin shake. I have pressure in my chest too....almost like right after surgery gas. my hubby had surgery on tuesday and so I have been stressed and I am at that monthly time (started thursday). do you all think this is what it is? should I get a small unfill or see if it losens up? u have had good success so far and I don't want to sabatoge myself by being stubborn. thanks!

    too tight or stress?

went today and got .2 cc's out and man I feel soooo much better! I can actually drink fluids and eat food! ahhhh the relief!

    another check up today

we were banded the same day! i've had four fills (and one tiny unfill of .02 cc's....i got a pill stuck....ouchy!) my dr is pretty conservative and I am so glad of that cuz I have hit my sweet spot and only have about 3.5cc's in my band. hope you get a fill and feel some restriction!
  20. please don't feel discouraged at all!!! my dr doesn't count calories either and when I go in for a fill I get asked the same six questions every time. and it takes time to feel restriction. I have had four fills (and one very small unfill due to inflimation from a pill...ouch!) and I finally am feeling restriction. as far as a plateu let me tell you my experience with this. I was doing p90x every day and also walking 45 min every day....and I lost 1 pound the whole month! I was so ticked! the next month I lost 18....and was doing the same amount of food and exercise. it takes some time for your body to understand what you are doing....and then bam! the lbs will drop. also, don't go by just the scale....how are your clothes fitting? the month I lost 1 lb I also lost one whole pant size! hang in there and continue the good work!
  21. trishfish

i am SOOO happy with my progress so far!

you can do it! it is all so worth it i hit 200 lbs today an all the frustrating things and the hard times just went right out the window!!! and thank you for the kind words!

    I told my husband

oh I feel you!! except this is how my convo went..... "hunny how much do you think I weiged before surgery?" DH: "i would say 256" me: "you're serious?" DH: "yeah, I can pretty much guess how much any one weighs. its from my years of wrestling" hahaha so here I was soooo scared to share my number with him (he is thin and fit) and he knew the whole time....and still loved me! and now we do my weekly weigh in together....no more of me hiding in the bathroom! it is so liberating!
  24. I've tried it multiple times with no such luck
