  1. Same here. I think a combination of winter + weight loss is causing it, but who knows. Try to find a good moisturizing lotion and use it after you shower before drying off.
  2. I am sort of on the line here. The fact is that this is a support site and that new bandsters sign up each day to ask questions. Since all surgeons who perform the surgery aren't the same, it's safe to say that some of us were given more information than others; thus you'll find people asking the same things over and over. Yes it can be annoying and repetitive, but think back to when you were newly banded and the questions you had. At the same time I do look at some of the posts and wonder just how much some people researched/were told about the band. But again, it's a support site and all of us come here for that and nothing more. If you're tired of the mundane posts maybe stay away from this particular section of the site. Some of the other parts seem to be posts not geared towards the things you mentioned. P.S. I'm rarely hungry and I eat what I want; it's all about moderation and calories in/out. I don't consider myself to be dieting. Eating normally and not binging on food every chance I get? Absolutely.
  3. Usually every 3-4 hours is when my tummy growls and I eat; that to me is real hunger and my body saying "hello, feed me." How much are you eating in a meal generally? How often do you eat?
  4. Have you taken your measurements? Pictures? If not, I'd suggest doing that. Measure yourself and do so again in a month. Take pictures and compare what you look like. Even if the scale isn't moving down, the fact is that it's not moving up, and that is good news! You're doing things right, so keep on going. The scale isn't our only way to measure success. A 23lb loss is great and it's wise that you're hesitant on your fills. So many people aren't and they end up in trouble in the long run. Keep your head up! The scale will move in time.
  5. I'm sure you'll be fine, as long as you aren't feeling any pain. Sorry to hear about the tire, congrats on being banded!
  6. Maybe make time to track what you're eating each day. Are you eating healthy? Exercise is important too. I workout for an hour, each day. Do you do a lot of cardio? Weight-lifting?
  7. Only 15lbs? You had surgery 3 weeks ago. The average loss per week is 1-2lbs. You're well ahead of the curve. I too would get frustrated and mad when the scale didn't move as quick as I wanted. The fact is that we didn't put the weight on overnight and we won't lose it in that amount of time either. At week 3 you're still healing. Give yourself some time, stay off the scale, and stick to the rules and you'll see the results you want.
  8. When were you banded? How much have you lost? What are you eating? Are you getting a lot of Protein in? Do you weigh/measure your food? Are you exercising? Do you drink your Water? We can't help you without knowing at least some of that. Give us some details maybe we can pinpoint what may be slowing down your loss.
  9. Agree 100%. Definitely invest in some papaya chewables. Tasty and they do help!
  10. No problem! Fingers crossed you don't get sick too. If you're taking Vitamins you have a good chance of being okay. I'm known to get all sorts of bugs throughout the year (pre-band) and since I've been banded I haven't been sick once.
  11. Ask your surgeon for anti-nausea/vomiting medicine. Mine gave me some to keep around once I had surgery
  12. Mine varies from day to day but usually goes something like this: Early morning snack: 1/2 cup fruit or a low carb Protein bar (Atkins have become my favorites) Breakfast: eggs whites, turkey sausage, turkey bacon, sometimes a little fruit Lunch: 4oz of dense protein (chicken, turkey, or fish) with some sort of vegetable (1/4 cup) Snack: Anything really. Usually fruit or a low carb/low fat crepe with fruit Dinner: Chicken with a salad. I stick around 900-1000 calories a day. No more than 40 carbs and no more than 50g of fat. I don't cook much either but I've learned the joy of cooking in bulk and portioning out/freezing my meals.
  13. Common and no real concern for worry I think. It may be your port that you're feeling or you may have developed a seroma. Your port incision will take the longest to heal and will be uncomfortable for weeks to come. Let it heal. If the bump you feel is still there, just have your surgeon look at it when you see him/her next.
  14. Yes PB = productive. It's productive because it usually happens after taking too big of a bite and in the end the food usually comes back up because it isn't able to pass through the band.
  15. If it's a rash from an allergic reaction she won't have many if any scars at all.
  16. Most people who are too tight experience a lot of PBing and sometimes acid reflux at night. Since you've lost 65lbs, it may be that your band adjusted a little. I would talk to your surgeon and ask for some advice. Something as small as a .2-.5cc unfill can change the world.
  17. Congrats!! I love the feeling of being able to buy smaller clothes. Size 20 to size 6; XXL tops to S? Loving it!!!
  18. You can get it together Negativity is definitely a show-stopper. Take little steps and get yourself back on track. Clean all of the junk food out of your house. It's cold most places in the winter, you can always exercise inside. YouTube is full of all types of exercise workouts that you can try AND they're free. You can do it!
  19. Congrats!!! That is an amazing weightloss so far, you're doing awesome! Keep doing what you're doing because it's working flawlessly!
  20. Katie I don't think there is a challenge for Valentine's Day that has been set up. I made up that ticker for my own use, just one of my mini goals. I'm sure one will pop up soon though!
  21. Think about it..you're 15 days post op and you just put your body through a pretty invasive surgery. You can't expect your body to keep on shedding the pounds. Let yourself heal and by most surgeon's ideas healing takes 6 weeks if not more. Don't stress over the scale right now. I did the same thing and looking back I realized how frustrating it was, but I was doing it to myself! Stay off the scale for awhile. Stick to your post-op rules and the scale will go down in time. There's no saying how long your "plateau" will last (not that it can even be called that really.) Allow yourself time to heal. Drink your Water and get as much Protein in as you can, it helps you heal faster. Good luck!
  22. Remember that the first 6 weeks after surgery should be focused on healing. You've lost 45lbs so far, reward yourself. That is a lot of weight to lose in 6 months. Give your body time to heal from surgery. My advice: keep on trucking, stay off the scale, measure yourself now and then measure yourself again in a few weeks, I bet you'll see a decrease in those numbers even if it doesn't show on the scale. If you aren't gaining then you're doing something right, right?
  23. Are you on any other types of medication? My surgeon put me on pills to keep my gallbladder in check. I was allergic to this medicine and had a rash that spread everywhere as well but I didn't develop the rash until about 1-2 months of using it. The rash I had sounds similar to yours. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're allergic to some type of medicine you got during or took after surgery. I dealt with mine for 2 weeks then went to one of those walk in clinics, got prednisone and it cleared up in 2 days. Maybe try another doctor/go to a clinic. Cortisone and benadryl creams did nothing for me. I'd check with another doctor!
  24. No I've lost 100lbs total in 8 months.
