  1. I'd say you're too tight though the spices in the soup may have done it as well. I'd call your doctor and ask for suggestions. Maybe try taking some OTC medicine for acid reflux to see if it helps diminish it for now at least? Good luck!
  2. Congrats!! I remember that moment too; not in the gym but out of the shower. Exciting but a silly NSV!
  3. Congrats! Mini-goals are the way to go.
  4. The first 6 weeks are NOT about weightloss. You need to put the scale away and focus on healing. You just underwent pretty invasive surgery 7 days ago. Your body needs at the least, a month to heal. Don't let yourself get down. Focus on feeling better, walking, getting in your Protein and your Water. Weightloss right now isn't the main goal. You're not going to lose much when your body is trying to heal. Give it time. Put the scale away. Focus on resting and healing. The weight will come off in time. Don't let yourself get down. Self-defeatist attitudes lead to just that: defeat.
  5. Get rid of all the sweets in your house. If they aren't readily available, you can't have them, right? Also, let yourself indulge. Have a sweet snack once or twice a week but limit it to that. Weightloss doesn't mean not eating the foods you enjoy. I have Reese's on occasion. Why? Because I like them. I know one isn't going to stall me. Allow yourself to enjoy something sweet every now and then; maybe it'll help your cravings.
  6. Sorry to tell you but usually once your hair is falling out, it'll continue to do so. You won't go bald but surgery, anesthesia, and weight-loss all interrupt the hair cycle. I have pretty thick hair and a lot of it fell out. It started about 3 months in and stopped about a month or so back. You can take Biotin and use strengthening/Biotin shampoos though they are usually not a huge help. Once your hair is falling out it's usually also in the process of growing back. I was/am currently getting 120g+ of Protein a day; it didn't keep my hair from falling out.
  7. Congrats!! It's amazing how much self-confidence you have. Wishes for many more happy years to come!
  8. I treated myself to a few M&Ms last night. Though I treat myself to a piece of chocolate once in awhile. Never hurts.
  9. Good luck! Wishes for a smooth surgery and a quick recovery.
  10. Try to stick to your diet; we all have to follow it for a reason. Even though you're chewing your food to a "mushy" texture, the fact is that your stomach still has to work harder to digest and process the food you're eating. The whole point of the post-op diet is to gradually introduce real food back into your diet so that your stomach has the proper time to heal. Go back to your post-op rules. Though you're not gaining, you're also not giving your stomach a chance to heal from pretty invasive surgery. Also, post-op is really the best time to start building up your willpower. If you can't stick to your post-op diet, how're you going to stick to eating the right foods later on in time? Just my 2 cents. Best of luck!
  11. Congrats! Here's hoping for a May surgery date.
  12. Refried beans (any type of mashed beans), cottage cheese, ricotta cheese baked with spaghetti sauce and mozzarella, applesauce, tuna, hummus, etc.
  13. I wouldn't put anything on it. Just keep the incision clean.
  14. Doubt your pouch is stretched though try to stick to your post-op diet.
  15. If you're suffering from acid reflux I definitely think the no fill option is ideal, though you need to figure out why you're having reflux. Is your band too tight? I say start yourself over again. Go back to your post-op diet. Follow it to a T to jump start the scale. You know what you're doing wrong, so fix it. Start tracking what you eat. Google/YouTube some workout videos you can do inside that way weather isn't an excuse.
  16. I like Muscle Milk Light. I try to stray away from powders as I really hated them pre-op, and I hate them now. I also drink Labrada RTD.
  17. The average loss with the band is 1-2lbs a week. I've lost anywhere from 0-6lbs. Nowadays it's about 1.5lbs a week. I was losing 3lbs but since I only have 16 left to go I'm sure it'll continue to slow.
  18. I recommend using your pain meds. I was on mine for 2-3 days and then just sort of dealt with the left over pain. Walk as much as you can. Try using Gas-X strips for the gas problem. Sip water when you can but don't push yourself. Most importantly, REST!!
  19. Nope. I was the opposite. Mine was MIA and is now regular (and light, love it!!!). I do believe weightloss can lead to all sorts of bodily changes. Maybe keep note of it but it's definitely common.
  20. Congrats! I think exercise is a must do. I started off small as well. Went walking then jogging and now I've pushed myself to do P90X. I can't say I hate exercise because the results have been great but I do have my days when I don't even want to be bothered with it.
  21. I responded as well. It sounds like your incision is infected and you need to see your doctor. A 'sunburn' feeling isn't normal.
  22. Just chiming in; there truly is no need to say goodbye to food though you do say goodbye to overeating, binging, etc. All foods are good in moderation, keep that in mind. I stayed away from bread up until about a week ago. Why? I need more calories and healthy carbs, so I now eat low carb/whole grain bread. Of course what you can/cannot eat will be dictated by your band tightness. Mine isn't too tight but just enough so I don't have many problems eating anything.
  23. I'd go see another doctor, maybe the doctor who banded you. Acid reflux isn't something to ignore. Your band may be too tight which could be causing the reflux. Definitely see a doctor.
  24. Normal. Don't worry about your weight at this point, it isn't a true weight gain. Put the scale away until you start eating normally again. Try using a heating pad/taking your pain meds for the discomfort, though that's all part of the post-op recovery fun. Walk as much as you can as well.
