  1. Not sure, from what I've read a lot of those fitted with the 4cc band haven't been able to find the right restriction, erosion, slips, etc.
  2. Welcome! Congrats on deciding to get banded Definitely look around the forums, there is a lot of good information here.
  3. Have a fill under floroscopy then; you'll know for sure if you have a leak or not. And no it hasn't happened to me, I've never had a fill, and my insurance paid for my surgery, but from reading forums, it seems those who self-pay have to self-pay for any follow-up surgeries; who else is going to pay for it? Maybe you could contact Allergen and explain the situation and see what they say, otherwise I'm sure it has to come from your pocket sadly.
  4. Because he's probably misinformed, like most doctors nowadays. A lot of people like to think that carbs are what make us fat, when in the end what makes people fat is taking in an excessive amount of calories and not exercising. Eating over your maintenance calorie limit + no exercise = fat gain, not carbs. Unless you have a tight band that can't tolerate rice or pasta, there is truly no need to not eat carbs, unless you are insulin resistant. If you aren't..eat them in moderation.
  5. Who says the band is leaking? Maybe 4ccs just isn't enough for you yet. Rarely is all the fill pulled out because, from what I've read not personal experience, some of the fill does stay within the tubing. Also it can take a week to two weeks for a fill to kick in, so I agree a fill 2 weeks after another fill is a bit much. If it is leaking, I'm pretty sure you have to pay for the surgery. Maybe have your doctor fill you under fluroscopy to see, or find a new office.
  6. Muscle Milk, Isopure, and Labrada are all good. Buy the pre-mixed ones, much better tasting IMO. I was cleared to exercise 6 weeks after surgery.
  7. No, no point. Why would you resort to fat loss pills when you just underwent WLS? The whole purpose here is to learn how to eat and how to life a lifestyle that allows you to maintain a healthy weight. No fat blocker is going to teach you that. WLS isn't about fast weight loss and if Alli works, why did you even get banded to begin with?
  8. It's not necessarily the "ideal" weight. You should be going by your lean body mass, from what I've read/learned. I do find that protein tends to keep cravings at bay. I'm getting upwards of 160g of protein in a day and it's been working miracles.
  9. It's an older version band that is no longer used for various reasons.
  10. Correct. Most people who slip are at a disadvantage when having their bands repositioned or replaced altogether as another slip is likely to occur. Slips are usually the result of excessive PBing due to having an overly tight band. I wouldn't worry too much. Take it day by day; no need to worry yourself before you're even banded.
  11. Hope everything goes well; did you have a tight band before this happened?
  12. Liquid diets don't result in true fat loss; if anything you will experience a sharp drop because of glycogen depletion, otherwise, you won't be losing true fat. I'd suggest starting to count calories as opposed to a liquid diet. Just my 2 cents.
  13. Can't spot reduce fat sadly. You have 78lbs more to go so I'd say be patient. My legs were the last to go but theyre toning/losing fat quite nicely now (thanks Plyometrics!) Maybe do some lunges, weighted squats, jump squats, and wall squats, but even then you're just building muscle under fat, so your legs may not appear to be smaller. Be patient
  14. https://shop.kfcoffee.com/sugarfree_torani_syrups/ Cheapest I've found.
  15. Too tight. You need an unfill or you're gonna do some damage to your esophagus.
  16. PB is not as bad as puking; its just the food comes back up with a very thick spit substance along with it. And yes, I've exercised since day one. Doing P90X now.
  17. Yep. Back to wearing 8s though some 8.5s fit.
  18. It's been worth it for me and I can't really say I've had a bad day with the band. Yes I've gotten stuck and PB'd but it's all part of the learning curve. I never imagined losing so quickly, let alone 115lbs in less than a year. There are complications and risks with all types of surgeries and it's luck of the draw really. Not everyone experiences the bad side of surgery. The risks with WLS are always there but are decreased greatly if you follow the rules and have a good bariatric surgeon to work with. In terms of the band, to me, this means not having a tight band, going in for routine visits, and getting unfills when you are too tight. Some people neglect these rules and often end up with slippage and/or erosion.
  19. Nope but fiber is good to have; not sure it keeps hunger away though.
  20. You need to go to your doctor for an unfill and an upper GI. You may have slipped your band.
  21. Lord I remember those days; I haven't touched soup since LOL. Nor pudding.
  22. What are you guys eating today? Snack: Atkins bar + strawberries Breakfast: Oat bran, eggs, turkey bacon Snack: Lemon creme pie Protein pudding with Kix (yum!) Lunch: Spaghetti squash with spinach, chicken, and alfredo sauce Snack: Protein bread + dark choco Peanut Butter Dinner: Tilapia, rice, and broccoli
  23. Mine ranges anywhere from .2lbs-6lbs a week. Nowadays I am losing much less each week, but that's to be expected as I only have 6lbs left to lose. You will often lose quicker in the beginning and weight loss will slow as you have less to lose.
  24. Sorry to hear you're having issues. Maybe the combination of bread + a compact meat isn't most ideal. Hope things get better.
  25. Nope. My surgeon made it clear that he will not unfill someone for a special occasion because then patients come back in complaining of gaining weight and not reaching the restriction they had before. Why not just eat the foods you like but in smaller portions?
