You might try Medifast I lost 27 lbs on it in three weeks.

Mysher...I'm praying please let me know what the doctors discover as I'll be worrying for you.
I'd like to ask for prayers for my father Joel who passed away and was buried last Thursday. I'm in extreme agony over his loss and need all the prayers I can get...I have to feel selfish, but I'm sooo low!

I'm back gang.
I buried my father Thursday and have been struggling with several emotional distress since learning of his passing two weeks ago. As far as eating...I'm wide open and can eat what I did in the past. I try not to because I don't wanna put back on the 27 I lost in pre and post ... Luckily for me my surgeon does fills three weeks out. I was scheduled last week and had to move it back for the funeral so Iw ill go on Thursday to get my first fill. I have VG 11cc so wondering how much first fill will be.
My biggest problem is to date I haven't given up drinking with meals. I realize on Thursday I must start this or defeat the purpose of the band. It's a mental thing for me and right now I'm losing.
Hoping that once the pain of my loss lessens things will get back on track for me..
In the meantime...Vegge congrats on ur engagement girl. Karen thanks for you continued thoughts and prayers and be well all

Check with your doctor...I was having horrible hunger pains four days post op through six and I got put on mashed potatoes that ended that problem...it's worth asking.
-
I had sinusitis prior to the surgery and took antibiotics up until the day before as instructed by my surgeon...they also do iv antibiotics there so be prepared for the old YI
-
I had six days of mushies then moved to soft diet...I've done fine.

My doctor ordered Medifast...worked great

What a cheerful post .... be well tomorrow and we'll talk to ya on the flip side.

I had to do MediFast for two weeks prior to surgery the first three days were brutal...after that it was pretty easy sailing. From what I understand, and I'm no doctor, it's not just about shrinking the liver it's about how much room ends up around there because of it's size meaning less air has to be put in...for instance, I did the diet and had literally no gas pain except for the first night.
MORE IMPORTANTLY, in those two weeks and the week after surgery I lost 27 lbs and it gave me a huge morale boost...so do the diet and you'll get a fantastic mental jump start.

From One Cold Feeter to another...
I almost backed out, but I'm SOOO glad I didn't. I was up and about that day and had about four days of bed time and NO gas pain after the first day. I too was weakened mentally and physically by the pre op diet so it made me shaky on the decision, but I'm down 27 lbs in three weeks and thrilled with the decision...good luck!

Welcome and good luck with ur surgery Friday

I'm having such deja vu...the weeks before my surgery I amped myself up to full blown fear...was it worth it NO! The night I got home I sent for a walk are the cul de sac...the following four days were worse but I've been sicker with the stomach flu. I get my first fill Thursday, down 28 pounds so far and am thrilled with the choice.
My husband too was reluctant until I made him a notebook of statistics, facts etc... then he got on board as well.
You'll all do fine and my best wishes are with each of you

My doctor didn't support me either...but I care for and respect my physician so I wouldn't think of changing. Many PCP's are not fully educated to make a decision regarding this surgery so I wouldn't take it to heart. I noticed at the end you said high bp and high cholesterol...nothing drastic...they're co morbidities causes of death so I guess I'd say those are pretty drastic.
Make your own choice and help your doc through the process that's what I did and am doing.
Be well.

I have started getting lots of emails notifying me of updated threads...I do not want those but am unsure how to get rid of them. I clicked FAQ and it sent me to page that said click HERE to stop them but then it doesn't say how to do that? Please help I'm emailed out!

Each surgeon is different mine said 2 weeks...I had trouble after surgery breathing so I wish I'd done a month...hell in truth I wish I never started.

In an ideal world noone would vomit unfortunately we get sick from stomach virus or from other illness...not just because we didn't follow the diet. Additionally, the band can slip even if it was put in correctly it is one of the risks of having the band. Good surgeons have bands slip...good eaters have bands slip. Don't beat urself up just get it taken care of...you'll do just great

Dear November Bandsters...
I'm back but sad to say that on Monday the police came to my door to tell e they found my father dead. I'm soooo sad. I'm any onlychild and my parents were divorced so I'm working through planning the funeral and all that goes along with this...it's just soo much especially while I'm recovering. For those of you who pray please keep me in your prayers and thoughts. I've postponed my first fill for a few weeks until I get through this.

I've read this over and over on here. Most people's stomach swelling goes down quick after surgery allowing them to eat. The greatest thing about my two week pre op liquid diet is I could eat as much but my stomach shrunk and I can't and won't. But yes I've read over and over until the fill you can eat regular. Remember, the band is in off position currently. Doesn't work properly until filled. I've read many people gain weight between the pre op weight and the first fill because of exactly this. I'm a little unclear what expectations a surgeon has...I mean you've overate all your life it isn't suddenly going to go totally away. Give him time..once he gets filled I'm sure he'll adjust better to the restriction with less eating and the band will do it's job. Good luck.

I agree with Jack...I'm sure just about everyone has second thoughts. I sure did. I think those are normal healthy responses to big decisions. You've done your research be confident now in your choice.
But I did want to say that there is no way I could have hosted a party of any kind five days after surgery. I'm sure there are some that could have but be careful...I think that would be a big big big stretch.

I am two weeks out and on soft diet. I am able to eat a cup and a half or two cups at a meal without full or discomfort...I'm trying to eat closer to a cup but am finding that I'm feeling a little stronger with some more food...so I'm happy to wait for more weight loss til my first fill. I am exercising and eating far far far less than prior to surgery so that's good enough for me. First fill scheduled for 12/5.

I had this pain after surgery and when I went to my one week with my surgeon he said it was more muscle agitation and to take Aleve I took 2 a day for four days and the pain is gone...it's an anti inflamatory that definitely un inflamed my sore area...worked wonders for me
-
I read somewhere on here that several people had "soft stops" to tell them when they are full. I've used that feeling which I get everytime I eat now..,.as an indication that I'm done.
-
Mine was very painful for first week..I'm two weeks out today and I have no pain whatsoever.

Ditto Leatha it's the diaphragm...I find holding my breath and bearing down until there is a little click almost always takes them away...I read it somewhere years ago.
