  1. I was banded 4/23/10. I started at 273 and got down to 223. I've been in the 233-238 range now for about a year and can't seem to lose what I've gained. I exercise at least 5 days a week. I have no regrets and I want to thank the posters for reminding me of the positives. I'm currently very frustrated but know that I'm not doing everything I could be doing foodwise. However, I'm still trying. Any helpful hints out there to help get me back on the "band"wagon? My problem is "grazing". I'm working on cutting out my drug of choice-sugar- and eating better.
  2. HI all! Banded 4/20 and have lost 42 lbs since I started the process in Feb. It's not as much as many here have lost but I trying not to focus on others' stats. I've had 2 fills and am considering another soon. I walk 5 days a week on my lunch hour at work and try to get in exercise at least once on the weekends. I've had a backsliding week this week into old eating habits but will be changing that starting that today. Found I can't eat pizza 2 nites in a row and sweets and still expect to lose weight. Go figure!

    Advice needed!!

I think you should go be a reader. I had my surgery on Tuesday and was singing at a fundraiser on friday. ( I should add I'm also older than most here!) I was tired but took it easy which is what you should do. Sit and visit at the reception. Have a drink with you to sip on. Others have suggested just saying you've had an upset stomach if anyone asks and I think that's a good idea. Maybe I'm odd, but I didn't have shoulder pain, didn't need pain meds after I got home and other than being tired more easily, my recovery wasn't hard. Good luck.
  4. I'm in Oklahoma City and was banded 4/20/10 by Dr. Gornichec. Support group is 1st Sat of the month and 3rd Tuesday. I'm very pleased so far. Email me or send me a note if you want more info. Support group is at Integris Hospital on NW Expressway and I'd be more than happy to meet you there to show you the way to the group:thumbup:
  5. Hi all ! I was banded 4/20/10 and have lost 40 lbs since /2/10. NSV is my A1C for my diabetes went from 7.3 in Feb down to 5.9 which is in the normal range. My meds went from 2000 mg to 500 mg and expect to be off diabetes meds in a few months. Blood pressure was even in the low range. I'm off the other 3 meds I was on. I'm excited. Sounds like we're all progressing at our own pace. Keep up the good work everyone.

    Does thr port stick out

mine doesn't stick out. in fact, if i'm lying down you have to feel around for it. I know where it is becau:thumbup:se it's below one of my incision sites.
  8. And the flip side to that is, at 51, i was skipping several months (went from feb to may without). Now that I've lost 35 lbs, i've had a period the last 2 months! Go figure.

    First Fill...

Just got home from having my first fill (6 wks post op). The worst part was the lidocaine injection. The rest was a piece of cake. My dr office says nothing to drink 1 hr prior and no food for 4 hrs. 24 hr liquid diet after, 24 hrs mushies and then real food again. Good Luck!
  10. First fill today of 3ccs. 31.5 lbs gone so far which is 1/3 of what I need to lose. So far, all is well. I'm enjoying buying some new clothes. Using a belt with all of my old pants!!! Down from 22/24 in tops to 18/20 and pants from 20/22 to 18! Whoo-hoo:thumbup:

  12. Hi all! I was banded 4/20/10. 4 wks post op tomorrow. I'm trying different foods. Still haven't tried bread or rice. So far everything has gone down well. However, I'm having trouble with the not drinking with meals and being hungry about 2 hrs after eating. My first fill is 6/7 when I return from vacation. I've lost about 27 lbs since my first dr. appt on 2/2. I'm down a shirt size and my pants are looser so the NSV are a nice side effect! I'm glad to see all the posts here so I know I'm not the only one wondering if all this is "normal". Still burping a lot but no pain around the port area and all systems seem to be working ok! Thanks for starting the thread. I'd like to keep in touch.
  13. i will be at 4 wks post op tomorrow (banded 4/20)and I seemed to have stalled. I've lost 27 lbs since pre-op. I will have my first fill 6/7 and am ready. Would have been earlier but we're taking a week vacation out of state next week and dr. didn't want me having potential problems in another state! I'm ready for restriction. I am hungry about 2 hrs after eating. I'm still making good food choices 99% of the time. So maybe this is Bandster Hell!!!
  14. I was banded on 4/20/10. I want to eat something, anything!! So glad to hear you all discuss this today. Everything smells good. I am soooo tired of things that taste like chocolate, vanilla, fruity, etc. I want to have something savory. I want meat of any sort. Thanks for letting me vent! I am not sorry I did my band. I don't regret it and look forward to the day when I can be back to "normal"
  15. I have a desk job but took a week. I had surgery on 4-20 and planned to go back on 4/23. I ended up going back today 4/27. I'm really glad I took the week. I'm a little older than most here but found I was still tired easily on Thursday. I was also having problems with nausea and diarrhea. It was nice to take care of thinks at home!!!

    One week out

Hi! I was banded 4/20 and would love to have some friends to share the journey. I'm in Oklahoma City. I get liquids only for the 1st 2 weeks and then get to start adding yogurt, oatmeal, etc. My issue is feeling nauseated after "eating" and being tired all the time.
  17. I've been banded 5 days now (4/20). I feel like I'm walking the line between being hungry and "eating" too much and being sick to my stomach. My dr. wants us on full liquids for 2 weeks. I'm having a hard time drinking my 64 oz of fluid as well as getting in additional liquids containing my protein quotient. Any tips out there? Also have diarrhea so liquid in, liquid out.
  18. I was banded 4/21/10. Currently all is going ok. I had been thinking about surgery for years but only in a "wouldn't it be nice to do" sort of way. When our insurance stuff went out this year, it mentioned that it covered weight loss surgery. I made an appt and started the process on 2/2/10. After being turned down twice, I was finally approved. The 10 day pre=op diet really wasn't horrific as there is an end in sight. Day 4 was the worst day but then when you reach day 5 you know you're 1/2 there. Now, 2 days post op I am still recuperating. Liquid diet for the next 2 weeks but to be honest, I haven't been hungry yet.

    Hello from OKC!

Been having to sip everything. I think I overdid it this morning and "ate " too much. I was feeling very full and a bit sick to my stomach. I finally gave in and took 1/2 a pill for nausea. I 'm back to sipping my lunch now (chicken broth with unjury protein). Congrats on the weightloss. I think it's a little easier to do when you know there's some kind of "end" in sight. The mere fact that you're on liquids only helps too. I've read many posts on here of people who are 1 week out and already trying mushy food. I have to do full liquids until the start of week 2.

    Embarrassing Diarrhea Question

    Hello from OKC!

KJH, I'd love to have a buddy to keep up with. I had mine done at Baptist/Integris on NW expwy. Dr. Gornichec was my surgeon. The hardest part so far is getting in all the water. I'm not hardly hungry and have lost nearly 23 lbs since I started the process 2/2. I know we're only supposed to weigh once a week, but it's too tempting to look everyday.
