February/March 08 plastics
losingjusme replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
karey, i completely agree about the exercise. all i am doing is walking between 30 - 60 minutes 2 times a week. even after that i swell quite horridly. good luck on your fill today. -
StephC's PS journey/I got approved!!

no, he didnt push, but i am now really wishing i would have lost that 20 pounds that i wanted to lose before. i was having a really difficult time losing the weight (i was completely unfilled about 2 1/2 weeks before my PS due to being REALLY tight with the stress of the PS) my pics will be up on my blog in about 5-10 minutes. i cant see much difference between the 20 & 27 day pics ... of course DH zoomed in more for the 27 day pics, so it looks a little skewed. but you can see that 'pouch' of fat on my left. i was really hoping the pulling of the skin with the TT would take care of it completely. it lessened it, but didnt get rid of it. -
Why Aren't You Losing Weight?

but can that pouch stretch (like a normal stomach can) if you eat too much? why is it only no hunger for about 2 years? does the nerve just 'wake up'? -

3 wks post-op question re calorie intake & weight loss?
losingjusme replied to newhope4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i understand. once you are healed, you need to just find what works for you. low carb works for me... BUT i also when i was REALLY losing the weight, forced myself to the gym... getting up at 4am to work out before work, sometimes going after work. you just gotta do it. exercise is a must for optimal results. you can do it... -

3 wks post-op question re calorie intake & weight loss?
losingjusme replied to newhope4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the first several weeks after banding are not for weight loss. they are for healing. any loss you get is a 'bonus' and should be celebrated. use this time to follow your post op diet and anchor that band into place. weight loss will come once you are properly restricted (may take 1-x times). good luck -

im still confused on this ... i thought everyone did.. -
betty, its so scary ... i HAVE to get more active. my restriction was crap (just filled again today) but i gained a few (less than 5) pounds ... i need to work off the cals or its going to be horrendous. walking slowly is all i can really do right now, so that's what i'll do. come 6 weeks out, i'll ramp it up a bit more.

Went to informational session last night now I'm confused
losingjusme replied to SoCalShannon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
except you dont want the water to STOP. you want it to significantly slow, but not stop. being filled so much to where you cant eat is extremely unhealthy and dangerous. -

losingjusme replied to pizzicato66's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Words of Wisdom??
losingjusme replied to pvbrownsugar04's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi, welcome to LBT. the band is a wonderful tool when used properly. eating well and exercising will get you the optimal weight loss. the band makes it easier to eat smaller portions. the rest is up to you. best of luck to you. -
welcome to LBT.

welcome to LBT and best of luck to you

hi Laura welcome to LBT. the band is one of the best things i've done for myself. its a wonderful tool, but will require work (eating right and working out for optimal loss). the pre/post op diets were not horrible, but not the best thing. my suggestion is follow your doctor's guidance, not here for what you should be eating/drinking ... every doctor is different. best of luck to you!
