    Getting my first fill today

let me know how it goes - i go for my first fill Monday. remember, the time before your first fill is for healing, any loss - even if it is 1/8 of a pound is a loss and a bonus!

Anybody heard of Dr. Ponce from Georgia?

a surgeon wouldnt band you b/c your BMI was too high??? :faint: **sigh** does the MD know that is the point of the surgery... some people just baffle me.

    Stuck on a Number?

what a great post! i havent been there yet, but now i know a few good ways to combat the plateau. Thanks!
  7. hi Tigger, i had the same thing - lost a lot the first 2 weeks then hit my 'mini plateau'. i have since started working out more frequently and am starting to lose again. HOWEVER, remember that you are still in the 'healing phase', this is not the time to lose much if any. when you get your first fill, that's when it may start to happen, but some people take more than 1 (or 2 or 3) fills before they get significant restriction. you can and will do this. just think that the initial 17 pounds are a bonus weight loss. :clap2:

Can you get liquids down in the AM?

hi, i find that i am REALLY tight in the early mornings (wake up at 530 to go work out). i can usually drink a bit when i'm finished (730/800ish), but if i try to drink during, it is just aweful, i felt nauseated and just not right. i have my first fill next Monday so i'm thinking it will get worse.

    I am starving - stop me !

that is just so bizarre!! as soon as i was on solids, Mexican is all i wanted. i finally did give in and have chicken fajitas. i did have 1 tortilla but i used to have 3+, so i didnt beat myself up over it. my goal / mantra is i can eat just about anything ... in moderation. i feel if i deprive myself, i will obsess on it and once i 'allow' myself to have it, i will over do it. just my .02

    Uhc

i have UHC and was approved in less than 2 weeks. :thankyou: i did not need any testing other than a blood and ekg ... however, i am a big girl ... good luck!

    An NSV of sorts

i LOVE LOVE LOVE (love) Reese's Peanut Butter cups ... could go thru a whole huge bag of mini's in about 3-4 days before banding... today we had Halloween at work, there was candy everywhere of course. i walked past my boss's office and voila - Reese's ... i grabbed one and threw it on my desk and went to speak to a co-worker. i come back and it is staring me down (you know the eyes that are pleading eat me eat me, come on!!!) i go to open the package, look at it, say nope, not hungry and toss it back into my boss's candy dish. i didnt eat it!!!!! :omg:

    My Mistake.

justduckie - i've done the same thing, caused me incredibly bad hiccups though.
  16. i cannot get enough Fluid in me and i am somewhat dehydrated. my mouth is really dry - a lot even after i just drank something - and my skin (mainly back of my ankles and legs) is so dry that they are starting to crack. i just do not drink much. i'm not very thirsty and have to tell myself to drink. even then it is very little. for instance today at work (i was there 9+ hours) i had less than 1/3 mug of tea. i maybe have about 20 ounces of fluid at home during the evening and i know this is not nearly enough to hydrate myself. i am going to work out tomorrow and am worried that i will not be hydrated enough to do much. thoughts?? thanks, losing jusme

current & former super size bandsters - exercise

Mariquita - no offense taken at all .. i appreciate the 'kick'. i, too, belong to 24 hour fitness. i think i am going to work w/ the personal trainer. but they are SOOO $$$$! ladydi - my MD released me to everything but swimming (still have scabs). he said i may be a bit tender/sore but as long as i take it easy and no ab work for a couple more weeks. i tried curves awhile ago but didnt get what i needed. Thank you all for your words of encouragement. sometimes you just need to hear it ... one step at a time ... yeah, that's it.

    Surgery by end of year?

depending on when you get it, you may be able to eat a small portion of everything (you may want to skip the bread though). good luck

    What does restriction feel like??

MC - i LOVE that response. thank you. i think i am starting to feel what is like to not be hungry any more. i, too, am one that feels guilty for leaving food on my plate. that's the biggest hurdle i have to get over. thanks!

    Surgery by end of year?

i think it depends on your insurance. here is my timeline: 9/13 - called Surgeon's office, they took my info and submitted letter of predetermination to my insurance 9/16 - went to a seminar for my surgeon 9/22? - pre approved for surgery (i LOVE my insurance) 9/28 - preop appt w/ surgeon 9/29 - blood work/ekg started preop diet 10/9 - surgery honestly, i'd get the surgery as soon as i could, if you are thinking about the holidays and eating - - how many holidays have you eaten very well? just my 2 cents.

    Annoying People

K@t - sorry you are going thru a difficult time with others. i agree w/ the postings here, you are doing a great job and killing them with kindness is exactly what they are not expecting, so just grin and say i'm doing a great job. i havent told my parents yet (will not volunteer the info, but if they ask i will not deny it), my in-laws however, i will never ever tell, even if they ask. they are so judgemental anyway and this would just give them more ammunition. best of luck to you. you are doing an amazing job - do not let others get you down!
