  1. Hi Lola'smama,

So far my doc has only asked that I start taking a supplemental general Vitamin with this pre-op diet. They told me we will be adding a chewable Calcium in the post-op phase but to not worry about it. I have loaded up with broths (chicken and beef) as well as weight watcher smoothie mix. I just can't get past the whey Protein additives. Up until Wednesday I can still blend versions of bean Soup for Protein but Thursday is Clear liquids. I'll be happy to give you a heads up as I forge through the road ahead! PLEASE do the same as our dates are SOOO close. Do you work? How much time are you taking off? I'll add you to my friends list so we can keep up!

  2. Good question Monkeymama,

I am getting banded on April 23rd. So far I've only asked for the surgery day (Friday) and the Monday. I can make my job sedentary if needed. My biggest concern is nausea. Did you get some good replies?

BTW- Good luck with your surgery! I'm predicting that April 2010 Bandsters will enjoy the BEST results ever!

    Keep us posted!

  3. Hi Stacey,

I have just finished week one of my required 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I have been true blue to the diet because I've heard they can NOT do the surgery if the liver doesn't look healthy. Anyway, I have lost 7 pounds for week one. It hasn't been fun at all. I can't handle the shakes well but have found that Weight Watchers smoothies are pretty palatable. My surgeon allows me to buy low fat/low sodium Soups with Beans and to blend them. It is tastier than Protein Shakes and the weight is coming off. Make sure your surgeon is good with that before you make your own rules. ;-) I have also had egg drop Soup at the restaurant as my family enjoyed their regular meals. That works, too. Good luck on your surgery. We are all about the same surgery date so we need to share tips and support one another. ~Tammy (surgery date: April 23)

  4. Sooooo confused,

Don't fret yet. I was in the same spot as you. I had never been considered small in my life and then all of the sudden I was teeter-tottering on a refusal. Co-morbidities might be your answer. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, thyroid disorder, any kind of muscle or joint disorder are all considered co-morbidities and they allow you to have the surgery with a lower BMI. Ask about that at your visit. Good luck!

  5. Hi It's For Life!,

I am actually in Lincoln County but my doc is in Huntersville. I see Dr. Ryan Heider and he is in practice with Dr. Vollenger. Its a small world, isn't it! Good luck with the Protein Shakes and feel free to write me if you do want to have a pity party! I understand! PLEASE do send any and all advice my way! I am waiting for all of my doc reports to be sent to insurance. Waiting is not my forte! Good luck with your procedure! WE CAN DO IT!!!!

  6. Hi Tracy,

We can support one another! I have also gone through 2 back surgeries and I am facing a third! The weight has got to go! I love the bipolar description. How true! I' super excited but do worry if I can finally stick to it and see it through. My family doctor says the positive vibes from the initial weight loss will keep me going. I sure hope she is right! We are shooting for a May or June procedure. What about you?

    Tammy

  7. Hi Lap Band Friends! I am from the Charlotte, NC area. I am currently in the insurance approval process for this exciting journey. I have met with all of my required specialists and the reports are being written as I type. It is my hope to have the surgery by June at the latest. I feel pretty good about the whole process. I am most fearful about finding a Liquid Protein shake that I like. I am and have always been a finicky eater. 2 weeks pre and post op on liquids only sounds extreme. ANY advice you all can offer an good tasting drinks is welcome!:blushing:
