    My First Unfill

If your doctor feels that it is ok to get the fill I would do it. You will only keep gaining weight if you don't and you don't want to do that. I didn't realize how quickly the weight can come back on if the band is too loose.

    My First Unfill

I suffered for months with a band that was too tight....don't ask me why I guess I thought it would get better without getting an unfill. Finally I could not stand it any more and went to the doctors. They emptied the band completely (my biggest fear) to see if I had caused any major damage. Thank God I had not. Well they took 8 1/2 ccs out and when I went back a week later put it 5cc's. Now I knew in my head that was probably not enough 3cc's less but I was so glad that there was no damage that I didn't say anything, thinking he's the doctor he knows whats best. Well now I can eat anything and everything and although it feels wonderful after throwing up almost every day for 4 months I have gained back 7 lbs. I now have to go for another fill but I have to say being able to eat pizza, pasta, bread anything feels sooooo good. But I know I can't undue all the good I have done ( lost 80 lbs) so I will call and make an appointment. Having a band that is too tight is the most miserable feeling you can have.

    My First Unfill

I have a 10 cc band. I feel like a new person now I was so miserable I didn't realize how much it was affecting my life. My big concern now is now much restriction do I now actually have since I had 8 1/2 cc's in and now only 5. I don't understand how my doctor could say "oh its perfect now (with the 5cc's) when before he said it was perfect with 8 1/2 cc's. Even though I have insurance it still costs me about $300.00 out of pocket since Barnabas Hospital system is out of network for me. I work for Meridian Health Systems and I could go to one of our doctors but I hate to change doctors since I have heard so many horror stories of painfull band fills. Well I guess I will see this better work well because my husband has already said no more fills, I guess he was not happy with the cranky person I have been for the past few months. lol

    My First Unfill

I have been suffering for months since my last fill. The band was too tight and I was throwing up almost daily from food getting stuck. Why I didn't go back to the doctor immediately is beyond me. My daughter was having the same problem went to Doc had a little fluid taken out and was fine. I guess at this point I was afraid what the dotor would tell me since the visit before he had told me my pouch was slightly stretched. Well I just couldn't take it anymore. Went to doctors this past Monday when they found out I was throwing up so often they took all the fluid out of the band. They told me that my stomach was probably inflamed from this. I went back yesterday and went under the flouroscopy and thank God no inflamation, pouch was not stretched and band was find. They had taken 8 and 1/2 cc's out of band on Monday and he put 5 cc's back in and said this was the perfect amount. My question to him should have been why did I have 8 1/2 cc's in and now only 5 is perfect??? But I was so relieved that the band was fine that I just didn't say anything. I will definetly pay closer attention as to how many cc's are being put in the band from now on. I go to one of the top surgeons in the area and I just relyed on his "expertised" and that he new what he was doing. You have to ask QUESTIONS and find out what they are doing. They are not GOD they do make mistakes. I feel so much better now. I had been so depressed from not being able to eat almost anything and getting stuck so often that I was miserable. Learn from me the band being too tight is not the answer to think you are going to lose more weight faster.
  5. TELL ME ABOUT IT. I AM SO SICK OF NOT BEING TO EAT SO MANY THINGS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO COOK FOR DINNER ANYMORE. ITS BEEN A YEAR SINCE MY SURGERY AND I STILL HAVEN'T LEARNED TO CHEW CHEW CHEW MY FOOD OR EAT SLOW. THE FOOD GETS STUCK AND THEN I NEED TO THROW UP. SINCE MY LITTLE DOG DIED MY HUSBAND EATS THE FOOD I CAN'T EAT. SO EVEN THOUGH I HAVE LOST 70 LBS HE HAS GAINED 10. LOL

    need a doctor in nj

My daughter also had her surgery in Mexico. And my surgeon does her fills for her Dr. Michael Nussbaum 973 322 7977. He is wonderful, one of the best. Never had a problem with fills. His office is in Livingston (about an hour dr) but well worth it. Does it under flouroscopy so you don;t feel a thing.
  8. The same thing happens to me I lose 5 to 6 lbs right after the fill and then it takes weeks on end to lose another lb or 2.
  9. I had my surgery on March 30th and to date have lost 55 lbs. which I am very happy with. But since my last fill I am getting stuck a lot and so I am throwing up a lot. I don't know if I am eating too much, too fast, the wrong food. And what exactly is the "sweet spot"? Is that where I am at and just don't know it because of what and and how much I am eating?:puke:
  10. I really tried to chew all my food until it practicallyl disolves in my mouth, really hard and not enjoyable. But I am finding when I do this is don't throw up after I eat. This is the first time I ever thought about having the surgery was the wrong thing to do. I enjoyed (past tense) so much especially going out to eat with my husband and friends but now all the joy is gone. I know it will take a long time to change my mind set. One thing I do LOVE though is shopping for clothes again, no longer in the plus sizes. That part is really fun and since I am a shopaholic I have a new fix.
  11. Thanks you your help I know whats the deal with eggs? I can't believe I have problems with them, I don't understand, chicken yes me too but the eggs???
  12. HI My name is Judy and I am a nurse work for a nursing homecare agency. I see you have a diploma in Forensic science. My granddaughter who is a senior in high school wants to persue a career in Forensic's. I would be interested to know where you went to school. We live in New Jersey and she is looking at New Haven in Conn. that is susposed to have a great program in this area for Forensics.
  13. Since I have had my third fill last Friday all that I can tolerate is liquids and pureed foods. I tried eating a piece of fish last night because I was very hungrey and could not stand the thought of more liquids. But forget it 5 minutes after I ate it I was in the bathroom throwing up.... I hope this situation improves. I kept saying I couldn't wait until I have restriction but this is ridiculous.:rolleyes2:
  14. I went for my third fill today surgery was on March 30th. the surgeon asked me if I was drinking while I was eating and I said in the beginning I wasn't buy as time went by I back back to my old habits of drinking during my meals. He said my pouch was slightlyl distended and that was from drinking with eating. He said I could ruin the whole band and it would have to be removed if it continued to stretch out. Well needless to say that scared the crap out of me and no drinking until one half hour before and after meals from now on!
  15. Unjury is the best vanilla and chocolate are great. Don't care for the strawberry but I mixed it with milk and they say you should mix it crystal light lemonaide. I had been using muscle milk chocolate but then I started reading a lot of articles on it saying it had a lot of dangerous chemicals in it so I threw it away. If you go to the Unjury web site and you get automactic delivery they will discount the price, and you can change or cancel at any time.
  16. This is just an option but did you consider going to Mexico? My daughter went in June to Dr. Ortiz and had wonderful results. The total cost was $6800 plus airfare. They picked her up at airport took her to hotel then to hospital next day. Day after surgery back to hotel for one day and then drove her back to airport. She has not had any problems and goes to my surgeon for her fills. My surgery has cost over $20,000 (most of it covered by my insurance) which I had done here. There are a lot of posts on here showing people who had surgery done in Mexico with great results. You can do some research and see for yourself. Good luck to you.

Bet you're sorry you voted for Obama now

    Yes for obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Well I can't say I cheated because my surgeon did not have me go on a pre-op liquid diet. I have read where so many people had to do this for one to two weeks. I ate whatever I wanted infact my husband took me on a tour of my favorite restaurants so I could have all my favorite dishes. I only had to do clear liquids the day before surgery. My surgeon is one if the top in my area so I know he knows what he is doing. I had my surgery March 30th and have lost 44 lbs. so far with no problems. I was really surprised to see how many people were on liquids for 2 weeks pre-op but then have not lost much weight after the band was inserted.
  19. I have Qualcare and got approved right away. They also pay for all my fills. My daughter who has Horizon was denied at the last minute but that is because her employer put a no weight loss surgery clause in her policy (which she was unaware of) and Horizon never picked up on until she had gone through 6 months of testing. She went to Mexico on June 6th and had the surgery all went well and she goes for her first fill Monday. And this is the amazing part she is going to my surgeon who charges me $900 (I have insurance) and is charging her $200 (no insurance) and you wonder why our health care is in the state it is in. Oh yes my surgery cost over $22,000 by the time we were done and if she had gone to him he would have charged her only $12,000!

    No Fill Today

    What is Zumba?
  22. I have had 2 fills already and no restriction. I know with my surgeon I have to wait 4 weeks before they will do another fill. I have read on this forum that many people say you need 3 to 4 fills before you feel restriction. And don't mistake getting "stuck" with restriction, that is what happened to me. I had my surgery on March 30th and have lost about 38 lbs. so I am not that upset that I have no restriction yet but I hate driving over an hour to get to his office, take off work etc. Hang in there.
  23. I hate needles too so I can understand your fear. My surgeon always does its under fluoroscopy. He numbs the area first which is a small prick and then I feel nothing. The first time he did it I kept waiting for the pain or something but nothing at all! Now I have heard horror stories where doctors stick their patients over and over again but I would be long gone before that happens. If he does it with the barium and fluoro there should not be any mistakes. Just ask him if he numbs the area first and if he does you won't feel a thing. Good luck the fear of the unknown is always the worst. After your first time you will see for yourself and can relax.
  24. I agree the psych exam I had was a joke... when the Dr found out I was a nurse and worked for the same hospital system as his wife that is what we talked about. I had to fill out a questionaire of about 1000 questions about 1% pertaining to my upcoming surgery.
