  1. Thanks everybody for your replies. I feel better now, it sounds like I'm experiencing what I'm supposed to. I won't freak out now:teeth_smile:
  2. So my surgery went smoothly and I am recovering well with little abdominal pain. My only complaint, which is frustrating and unfortunate, is I have this upper thigh/hip numbness and occasional sharp pain/hot pain. So I've asked my surgeon's office and they told me not to worry about it, but if it got worse to go to my PCP. The numbness seems to be getting better, but with more feeling comes more of the sharp, hot pain pricks? I really wanted to avoid going to my PCP for her to tell me it was a bruised nerve and she can't really do anything about it. So I asked a doc online. This is the answer I got, and I believe it to make sense of what is going on with me- I wanted to pass it on in case anyone else is going through this. Here is the doc's answer: "This pain is probably from a stretched nerve / muscle from the " modified lithotomy " position that can be given for a Lap Band surgery. This can also be from inappropriate sleep posture, as suggested by the nurse, causing a stretched nerve. I would advise you to rest and apply gentle heat to the painful area. This should pass off within a few days." I researched a little more and found info about "compartment syndrome" which discussed laying in a modified lithotomy position in combination with compression socks (I wore these in the hosp to prevent blood clots) causing nerve pain and area numbness. So there you go, I had to a lot of searching for this info, but I think it saved me a trip to the doc. Hope it helps. By the way, I really, really want to eat a giant hamburger!:w00t:
  3. Hey there, just wondering if u could post some before and after pics for others motivation? Congrats on all your hard work paying off!

  4. Thanks so much!

  5. Hey Melmel, how'd your surgery go? Mine went pretty smooth. I spent the night in the hospital and returned home yesterday- hospital beds suck! I'm kinda gassy, which is uncomfortable, but the pain isn't too bad. Hope everything went well with you.

  6. Hey marmar! I had my surgery last Fri 5/14 and everything went well! Any chance you will post before and after pics, they can really be motivating for me. Hopefully I will be as successful as you.

  7. Hey sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I had the surgery the day after you posted. Everything went great, no complications! I spent the night in the hospital as a precaution. I'm having a little abdominal pain, but not too bad, every day get better. I can already see myself shrinking!

  8. Hi Meredith! I saw you were banded by Dr. Hawasli. He's doing my surgery on May 14, 2010! Just wanted to know your opinion of him and his skills.

  9. My name is Melanie. I've just finished my first week of pre-op liquid diet and I am struggling right now with wanting to eat stuff. I hope the band makes it easier to control my cravings.

  10. Hello Lch8! Congrats on your banding! Hope you are doing well. Any advice for pre/post op?

  11. Hi KelinTx! I was inspired by your before and after pics as were a lot of us. You look fabulous! Good for you. I was wondering how strict you were with diet and exercise and if you had any plastic surgery? I hope that's not too personal? I'm getting banded on 5/14/2010 and need inspiration, motivation, etc. I get scared about plastic surgery after I lose the weight and wondered if you didn't need it, you really just look so great in your after pic.

  12. Hey there Marmar! Amazing weight loss is such a short time. Were you really strict and exercised a lot? I'm getting banded on 5/14/2010 and looking for motivation during my pre-op diet! Any advise/wisdom would be great!

  13. Hello there corrina43! I see your surgeon is also Dr. Hawasali! When is your banding date?

  14. Hey everybody! I just finished watching Ruby on Style network. This show is very inspirational to me. I really appreciated this episode because it really touched on food addiction and causes for it. It was emotional for me and kinda therapeutic! I recommend everyone check out tonight's episode, it might make a difference. Strength to all!

Hey there! She can be annoying with her southern drawl whinning, for sure! This episode gives you a little insight to where that might be coming from though. It's a good one.

I think it's really good you are looking into stuff! It made me do the same thing. My boyfriend and I talked about my 'demons in the closet' that may have triggered my problems with food and weight. It narrowed down to my mother and some other things too. I think by analysing myself it will only better help me with my goals and gain control over my stuff!!
  17. I feel ya! I had a full on last supper binge for a month. Towards the end it seemed I couldn't indulge as much as I wanted to cuz I would start to feel sick. That's what overdoing does for ya. Happy liquid begin day to ya!

  20. You are allowed to eat chicken? Lucky. My dietitian says I can only have 3 Glucerna shakes, 2 lowfat yogurts and clear liquids every day for 2 weeks! Ugh! Gotta do it though, must be strong.

  21. Hey there! My date is May 14! I started the liquid diet yesterday (a day late, oops) and I see it is going to be a challenge. I want to eat stuff!!
