    Paranoid!!!

All I heard BEFORE my surgery was how much I was going to gag and puke after surgery.... I vomitted ONCE - at the hospital - and it was so minor... It's now been 2 weeks... a few times I've over stuffed my pouch and the pain comes... the discomfort... but no puking.... is something wrong with me? Have I ruined something? Or am I extremely lucky and just a bit paranoid???? HELP!:tongue2:

    What to do now???

Hello... sorry you are feeling like that.... I hope it gets better for you! I LOVE my protein shakes.... what kind are you taking? Some are reallly terrible! And the thicker they are, the worse it is for me!!!! But that's just me. I love the OPTIFAST shakes.. chocolate.... wow!! tastes like a melted frosty!!! LOVE IT! Also, a few spoons of peanut butter could help!! ?? Just lick slowly! Good luck! (I was banded on 5/11) I have my first post op appointment tomorrow... super excited to find out about how much weight I've lost! HUGS!
  3. Hey! Thanks for stopping by to check on me! I'm doing great.... I have my first post op visit tomorrow morning... I think I'm doing well... haven't really had issues... my biggest problem is water... I LOVE water and before surgery I would drink it alot and quickly.. so it's hard for me to train myself not to gulp bottles of water down my throat... :)

Haven't weighed myself in a week and a half... I know I'm losing though.... from the time I started my liquid diet - 2 weeks before surgery, until 4 days after surgery, I had lost close to 20 pounds... I hope I'm close to 30 pounds now... but we shall see!! :) As long as I'm losing, I'm not going to get hung up too much on numbers... have started walking more... hope to do it daily and vigorously once the doctor sees me tomorrow and says all is well!!! :) How are you doing? by the way - have begun eating mushies... still taking some protein shakes.... let me know about YOU!!!

  4. KIMKIM - I'm so sorry!!!! I had my surgery on May 11th, also... and so far, so good. I've only puked once... and it was at the hospital during recovery... had too much Water. I've gone to the bathroom a few times... and right now, my biggest issue is gas in my chest and shoulders.... other than that, I have hunger pains but once i eat, I'm ok.... which Protein shakes are you taking?? I am still taking the Optifast 800 that I was on before my surgery. I cannot tolerate ANY of the Protein Shakes out there.... Good luck... and I hope things get better soon... Have you lost any weight? I've lost 7 pounds since Tuesday... so between the 2 week pre op liquid diet and my surgery on Tuesday I've lost 20 pounds... :smile2: BEST OF LUCK TO ALL MARVELOUS MAY BANDSTERS!!!

    5 days post op

The reading material given to me reads that this is normal... but if I were you, I'd call the doctor.. and ask to speak with the nurse... I don't know about your doctor/surgeon's office, but the support staff at mine is AMAZING! They're so willing to talk me thru anything! Good luck! Hope you feel better soon! :blushing:
  7. I read your thread about the Mexico doctor... what state do you live in? I know a doctor in Texas who flies with his patients to mexico and does the surgery at a very nice facility.. and the hotel is all inclusive... and the total price including care/airflight/food/anesthesia/etc... is $8900.. Let me know

  8. For those of you who have already had the surgery.... Do you WANT food? Do you CRAVE it? I'm into my third day of 2 weeks of 800 calorie per day liquid diet. I am about to devour my couch, that's how much I just want to EAT something.. I know that my stomach is large now and it WANTS to be filled... I'm just worried that I'm going to struggle with this for the rest of my life. Or will I? I want someone to tell me that NO - once you have surgery, the WANT goes away.. you eat when you need to and sometimes you have to force it.... please tell me this is the case!! Someone!! LOL I hope y'all know what I'm talking about... I just don't want to live the rest of my life feeling deprived... that would suck. i want for food to not be IMPORTANT to me anymore... eat to live... you know? Not live to eat.... Well, time to make another protein shake! Peace out! Hope to read some responses from you non-newbies!!! HUGS:bored:
  9. HEY HEY HEY! Miss ya!

    sorry to ask... but...

I feel like a loser and a horrible person right now... I just had 4 bites of pepperoni pizza... I can't believe I did that... almost 4 DAYS INTO my liquid diet... 800 calories... I was so happy today.. no headaches, feeling like I had lots of energy.. but I heated up a pizza for the kids and when I took it out of the oven I couldn't resist... I went back and forth for several minutes.. then I just cut a very small bite size piece and had it.... and it was so good for a few seconds.. but right now, if I could, I would go vomit.. but I've never been one of those.... anyway... just wanted to share.. I feel such guilt and I feel like a big fat loser!

    sorry to ask... but...

thanks for sharing that!!!! it's what I wanted to know... I just want to have the hope that I WILL be able to control my desires... I don't want food to be such a focal point in my life! Anyway, I'm sure I'm worrying more about it than I should... probably because I've been on liquids for days... LOL I DID have 1/2 a saltine cracker tonight.. I just needed it... can't really explain it... and it was so good... as if it were lasagna! LOL:thumbup: going to try not to do that again...
  19. conservachick

    sorry to ask... but...

Manda - thanks for responding... OK - yes, I'm on Optifast.... 5 shakes per day.. I bought crystal light but haven't taken it yet... drinking water, having sugar free pops and sugar free jello... have chewed lots of gum.... it's just hard... I know I sound like a spoiled brat... i know I can't have my cake and eat it too, no pun intended! Was the liquid diet the hardest part of the process for you?
  20. conservachick

    sorry to ask... but...

Question: Is that what "restriction" means? That I won't feel the "want" anymore? Is it possible to get restriction right away? LOL Just curious.. really concerned about this...

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

Good luck to everyone! I think May bandsters are gonna kick some major butt! Let's keep everyone posted... and show 'em how it's done! HUGS!
  22. thanks for reading all of that! I wish you the best on your journey.. and congrats on the 30 lb weight loss.. that's just amazing!!!! HUGS

  23. Hi there! I saw your comments on my thread and wanted to stop by and say hello!

I am excited every time I come across someone who lives in North Texas (metroplex)!!! I live in NW Tarrant County... fort worth - right next to Saginaw and close to Lake Worth... near Meacham Airport...

Anyway, I noticed you mentioned a group that you are part of.. that meets in Hurst... I'm VERY interested in getting info. on this. I really feel like that will be crucial for me once I'm banded (on May 11th!). I'm super excited but in my head I hear those old voices which have ALWAYS told me, when I start something, that i will NOT succeed.. so i think a support group is just what I need... anyway...

  24. Hi!! My name is Monique... I live in Fort Worth and I'm proud to announce that I will be having LapBand surgery on May 11, 2010. I have been waiting for this for a few years now... and I can't believe it's finally going to happen. I begin my liquid diet (2 weeks) on April 27, 2010. I'm scared it will be the toughest part of this whole thing... but I know that I can do it! I'm excited to get to know people on here and hopefully make a few friends along the way! I'm very opinionated but I'm not judgemental... so give me a chance... HUGS:wink:

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

May 11th is my surgery date! I'm super excited... I begin my liquid diet - Optifast 800 - on April 27th - for 2 weeks. I cut out all caffein this week, one week before the liquid diet, only because I think next week will be hard enough dealing with no solids.. I want to have already won the caffein battle! Good luck to all May bandsters! Stay strong!
