    harder than i thought....

oh i feel your pain. I had no idea that this surgery would be so hard. I had hyatal hernia fixed as well...two and a half hours. I'm on day six post op...this is a bad day...i am actually off of pain meds for the first time...but my stomach is cranky and i want to eat comfort fooods and I"m weak from hunger...yes...weak from hunger and surgery and 400 calories a day if i'm lucky and stuff them in ..i had skim milk with sugar free hawaian punch in it.. it was a total party in my mouth. I regret it but them tell myself that I have not gotten to solids yet and then I won't regret it...hang in there. i feel your pain...keep coming back to here for support....good luck ..hugs..seaview

    mortality rate

my doctor has never lost one... he's done more than 1000 you have to do exactly what your doctor says to do though. No messing around with the diet after and walk and drink and all that. So the doc does his part...we do ours...and we should be ok....it's supposed to be a much safer surgery than the bypass...because they don't mess with your intestines....:crying:
  5. hey tb. where are you? I'm in Cali...

    I'm really anxious...i have 2 kids and a husband and I'm afraid.

But I reallly need to do this..so here we go...

  6. I have had the same question. Will I lose too much weight. I have 70 pounds to lose. My doctor told me that the weight loss slows down as your body adjust . I still worry about that question. Imagine worrying about losing too much weight. I am 210 and 5'8" and am a self pay sleever. I have no comorbidities but a serious compulsive overeating problem which I struggled with my whole life. Now at 50 I am finally doing something about it and working towards good health. This is a preventative measure because the writing is on the wall for me. So I am putting money to good use. But the question of losing too much haunts me. My girlfriend lost 50 pounds on her own last year. She said to maintaing her weight loss she has to stay below 1200 a day. I hope I can get 1200 in when the time comes. If I am exercising etc;; does anyone else have any ideas about this...someone a few years out maybe?

    struggling

It seems like you went back to work pretty soon. Unless you really have to you might want to take some more time off. VSG is major surgery and some doctors recommend at least a week off of work if not more. From what I understand as long as you are getting enough water you shouldn't worry about protein or anything else yet. We can survive a long time without food but not a long time without water. Hope this helps. I am right behind you getting sleeved on April 8
  8. Lizzie, My name is jessica but I will be having surgery on 4/8 in San Francisco not in Mexico.
  9. Thanks so much....this is my first reply. I will do half and half for awhile. It's coffee and also that wonderful snapple iced tea..which is very caffeinated indeed. Anyway thanks for the reply and i'm sure I'll have more to ask as the days get closer.
  10. Hey, I am new to this site. I will be sleeved on April 8. I am very nervous and also excited. I have only my husband for support. I have not told my kids but I am going to tell them I am having a hiatal hernia repaired. Which I will get done along with the VSG. My family will give me negative and fearful feedback. So your support would really help. I only have to do a week of liquids and give up caffeine. I didn't think that would be hard but I think it will be the hardest thing to do..
  11. I will be the day before. I can't believe i'm so nervous I can't even do math anymore. LOL
  12. I am scheduled for 4/8 in San Francisco so I will be the day after you. Mexico is a wonderful place to go and I'm sure your sister will not be bored. But hopefully your sister is really there for you and will be available for you after. To take care of you and make sure you have everything. My sister would never do that for me..so you're lucky. I won't tell her I am having surgery because she won't be supportive...just tell me scary stories... My husband is my big support. Anyway let me know how things are going. It freaks me out that it will all happen in three weeks.
  13. this thing says i'm a dude but i'm a woman...how do I change that?
