Hi Sue, I was at the support group meeting on Tues night. Were you there too because there was a woman there that seemed to fit your profile? I was the only one there that had not been banded and I was sitting on the couch near the door. I thought the group was great! Priscilla

Hey Katie...Priscilla here again. I'm dying (LOL) to know how your sleep study and consult went...so please post! I have my appt w/nutritionist Jane on 4/20 at SWLS and I mailed back my Psych stuff today to Dr Neuman. Joanne at Dr Neuman's office told me to call her back tomorrow afternoon after she speaks w/Dr Neuman to see if he'll possibly see me on 4/23 since he actually is booked. I start another temporary job (worked for them last spring) with the 2010 Census Bureau on 4/27. Job will last 5-8 weeks so I wanted to get all my appts done before I start the job because they frown on people taking time off. Jayne told me I won't have to repeat my sleep study, but it takes about 2 weeks to get the report from Dr Neuman and she needs that before she can submit the paperwork to the insurance co. My insurance co said it could take up 30 days (but probably sooner) to get approval. That could take me out possibly to June 4th for approval IF I get to see Dr Neuman on 4/23. Priscilla

Hi Katie...had my last sleep study done in Aug '07, no sleep apnea (only 1 incident) but zero REM sleep! I didn't call Jayne today but I probably will tomorrow because I start working for the 2010 Census Bureau on Apr 27th. Temp job is supposed to last about 8 weeks, but I worked for them last spring and they said the same thing...ended up only being 5 weeks. I want to be ready to go when the job ends. Hey tomorrow night you go night night in the sleep lab! Good luck. Priscilla

WOW Katie...that's great! They were fine with scheduling all your appts before you even had your consult? Who did you talk to in the office? Jayne? I'd love to get the scheduling done in advance....very good idea to save time. I would like to do mine all back to back if I can since I'm traveling from NH, e.g. some appts day of sleep study, and some the day after...that way I'm just making one trip. Have you ever had a sleep study? I've had 2 and I found it so hard to actually sleep with all the wires attached to my head! I bet they'll get approval for your surgery rather quickly after they submit. I think they have a good relationship with the insurance companies they deal with, especially since they only do Lap-Bands, no other surgeries. Please let me know how all your appts go! Priscilla

Hi Katie and oceansunset24, No problem Katie...much more important to get home to the kids. I totally agree with you about their sincerity in caring for their patients. I was 2nd in line to make a consult appt. She was going to give me an appt with Arthur but I asked if if I could see Adam so my appt is 4/16. I'm not sure if I would have gotten an earlier appt if I had made it with Arthur. I thought I should see Adam since I want him to do the surgery. Who is your appt with? I'm very excited too! I have not told anyone except for my significant other who I've lived with for 29 years. I made him swear not to tell anyone! Hi Katie, I just called Surgical Weight Loss Specialists to see if they had any cancellations for Thurs instead of 4/5 but they don't. I'm supposedly on their cancellation list. I hope you'll post how that seminar goes which will give me an idea what to expect how they run theirs. The other two hospitals I looked into were Lahey Clinic (Burlington) and Catholic Medical Center (Manchester NH). It takes 6-9 months at CMC before you get a surgery date...too long for me...I want to get it done ASAP (health issues) and Lahey just didn't seem to have very good followup care, in my opinion. I curious, is Katie just a pen name you are using because your profile says you are male? Priscilla

"I am so excited to be going to the seminar next Thursday 3/25/2010... Katie" Hi Katie, I am going to their seminar on 4/5/2010 but I'm trying to get in for 3/25 if they get a cancellation. I called 3/9 but 4/5 was the earliest they could give me. I just want to get this whole process moving! I already went to 2 other seminars at different hospitals but I definitely want to go to this one before I choose. They have such a great website and seem to have more followup care than the others. I live in NH so it's going to take me 1 -1 1/2hrs to get there but I think it will be worth it. If I get in for 3/25 I hope we run into each other. It would be nice to start this with someone who is starting at the same time. Priscilla

Hello Everyone, I'm new here. I'm just in the beginning process of attending seminars at 2 or 3 locations. I've been to one and will be attending my 2nd tomorrow night. The one I think I'm going to like the best is the 3rd one but it's about 1 to 1.5 hrs away. Has anyone traveled that far for the surgery and all the followup appts? Did you find that it worked out OK or is it best to stay closer to home? Looking forward to my membership here. Thanks
