  1. So sorry you are going through this but you have a great attitude. Keep it up, you're doing great!
  2. I got my band on October 30th. Everything was great until I woke up yesterday morning with a sharp pain under my left ribcage. The pain is directly below my ribcage but well above my port (I think). The pain is actually worse today. I also woke up with a runny nose and started sneezing. OMG, I thought the pain from my sneezing was going to kill me. At one point I hoped it would. The pain meds help a lot but getting up and down and taking deep breaths hurts A LOT. I am afraid something may have happened. Just a small note, I was somewhat constipated this morning but I didn't think that it could possibly cause the sharp pains and thee pain is still here!! Help, I was on the road to recovery and missed a turn!
  3. I have a closet filled with clothes that I bought in the past because "I was really going to lose the weight this time". I think you might be getting stuck on past failed attempts. At least that would be it for me. I am looking forward to the opportunity to "shop" out of my closet at some point. I will be so glad to finally remove some of the sales tags....lol!!
  4. I talked to my Son and told him how it hurt me when he told me he thought I was lazy. I found out the real reason for him telling me that he said was that he was afraid of something happening to me during surgery. I am a single Mom and he has no contact with his Father so, basically I'm it. We had a long talk and I told him that if he had any questions that he could ask me so that he could understand it better. The surgery is over (as of 8 days ago) so we will see how things go from here.

    selling clothes

I have sold on e-bay. Craigslist is a little scarey because you have to deal with strangers face to face. I may be interested in what you have. Can you send me the info and maybe some pics and a price? I am a 24 now but I just got banded on Sept 30th so hopefully it won't be long.....
  7. My Mom is very supportive and I am staying at her house right now recovering from my surgery. It hurts that my Son does not support the decision but, I don't hold back from telling anyone I could care less what they think.
  8. My Son thinks that I am lazy and that I just need to diet and get off my ass. He and his best friend were visiting me today and my Son brought up that his friend thought it was the easy way out. After they left I had a good cry. It really hurts to not have my Son be supportive but he does not know what my life has been like. It was MY decision for me and I am sticking by it. They and whoever else can think whatever they want!!!

    No more heartburn!!!

I am only 4 days out of surgery but my Dr.'s notes read that if I am hungry in between meals (when I get them) I should have some fruit no more than 150 calories.
  10. Well, I'm offically a bandster!! Not without several bumps along the road today I'm afraid...First, my surgery was over at 10am but I had to wait in recovery until 3pm for a room to open up, that was not too bad. The real issue was that my doctor forgot to order my pca with morphine for me when I got to my room. They had to page him and I was several hours without pain medication. Not a good feeling at all!!! He also charted me as nothing by mouth until tomorrow morning. I feel like I have had a sponge in my mouth!! Even after evrything else that happenned today, I am glad it is over and I am ready to start my new life. I have been walking like crazy to help the healing and I have to say that I feel better than I thought I would. Enough of my morohine rambling...good night and sweet dreams.
  11. Excited and nervous!!!!! This site has helped me soooo much in getting prepared. You are all wonderfull for being just great support. See you on the other side!!! :smile2:

    Tomorrow is the day!!!

I am taking my laptop so I will post as soon as I can. I think staying in touch will help me also. I'm sure I will be fine as soon as I wake up from the surgery. That is really my only worry.....

    tests before operation

My list of fun things to do was the same as topazz. Make sure it is an endoscopy and not an upper gi series. I thought I had to have an endoscopy but I was incorrect. I was told that the upper gi series (which is a barium swallow under a flouroscope) was a better way to see a hernia. Found out I have one! Glad all my tests are over now I am just waiting for my clearance. Nervous about that and the surgery!!!
  19. It is soooo encouraging to see evryone is doing fine. Getting ready for Sept 30th...getting a little nervous......:smile2:
  20. missmuffet I totally understand but you are doing this for YOU not your family though they will certainly benefit. I am a single parent and my Son is afraid for me to have surgery but I want to be around for him for a long, long time. I also want to be able to do more physical things without pain from carrying around this weight! I am scheduled for Sept 30th and though I am scared, I have made my decision and I am ready!! :rolleyes2:
  21. Good Luck to everyone scheduled for tomorrow!! I am scheduled for the 30th of this month and am looking forward to following you guys. Happy recovery!! :rolleyes2:
  22. I know how you guys feel. I am supposed to be on liquids and 1 meal but I was overdoing the meal so I went to liquids only today. My arm is looking mighty tasty!! Surgery scheduled for Sept 30th.

    Being Banded tommorrow!

:frown: Congrats!! I am sure everything will be fine!! My date is Sept 30th. I look forward to reading more of your journey post surgery. Take Care!!
  24. Just got my date. September 30th. Thrilled and terrified all at once! :cursing:
  25. I am hoping for an August date also. I too am having a terrible time with the 6 month diet. Thinking about trying a protein replacement for breakfast and lunch and a sensible dinner. I put on 70 pounds last year due to an ankle injury. That weight is on top of all the other weight I needed to lose. The only thing other than weight that I haven't lost is my mind but it appears to be on it's way out..........
