    lap band surgery in mexico

I am scheduled to be banded by Dr. Corvala on 6/29/10 at Hospital Angeles in Tijuana. I know that his current price is $5995.00, however mine is more expensive ($7,000) because I am having revisional surgery (lapband over previous gastric bypass). Both prices include pickup at the San Diego Airport, 2 nights in the hospital, drop off back at the aiport and all doctors fees. The only thing not included is your prescription for pain meds/anti-biotics which you pick up at the pharmacy before you leave. Hopefully I can give you more insight after the surgery. Good Luck on your search!
  2. Woodstock, A few of the conceptions you have about bypass simply aren't true. I had a bypass when I was 18 years old (about 10 years ago). I can eat absolutely ANYTHING I want to, including sugar. I've never been sick from sugar...ever. The weight came off rapidly, but too rapidly. I felt I was on a rollercoaster with no real control over anything. Whoever posted about issues with malabsorbtion is correct, you do NOT get the nutrients you need so i multi-Vitamin is key with bypass patients. Being the irresponsible teen that I was, I never took my Vitamins and now have seen significant hairloss. That being said, the weight came off rapidly, but now, 10 years out, I have gained all but 15 pounds back. I am due to have a lap band put over my gastric pouch on 6/29/10 to further aid my weight loss effort. Of course not every bypass results in people gaining weight back, but it's certainly not uncommon. In fact, in Europe, when doctor's do bypass's, they will sometimes stitch a band in place to preven stomach stretching and for use as a "plan B". I think both the band and bypass are great WL tools. I mistreated the bypass and now, plan to use the band to the fullest.
  3. Hello everyone! I am slated to have revisional surgery on June 29th in Mexico. I am getting a band placed over a previous gastric bypass that I had 10 years ago. I was just wondering if anyone has already been through this and if they were willing to share their experiences such as success/failures, pain from surgery (was it better or worse that the bypass), and how they are adapting. I would just like a different perspective other than my doctor's. Thanks in advance! Kel
  4. The price you saw for $4500.00 is Dr. Mario Almanza down in TJ, Mexico. No joke, that's really his price. You can see his website at www.alighterme.com I was considering him at one time, but I decided to go with Dr. Rodolfo Natera at Star Medica Hospital in Juarez, Mexico because I prefer a full service hospital with an ICU, blood bank, etc. It's a little more expensive (I'm paying $6500.00) but I feel its worth it. Almanza works at Jerusalem Hospital which is an outpatient facility. Dr. Natera's website is www.drnatera.com but I went through Medical Tourism Company to facilitate everything. Good luck on your pricing search!
  5. SallyTally- I am having my lapband surgery in Juarez, Mexico, however, my after care doctor is in Norwood, MA and his name is Dr.Glasgow. He and his son run a very successful practice. You can check their web-site at www.massweightloss.com I can't tell you how amazing they have been to deal with and both Dr. Glasgow and his son Adam (also a surgeon), get rave reviews both on this web-site and through other clients. Give them a call!!!

    mexico anyone

Hello there! I am also scheduled for surgery in Juarez (but not until June). I was also scared, but thank you for sharing your story, it certainly help put my mind at ease too. You were at the Hospital Star Medica or Angeles Hospital? I will be at Hospital Star Medica with Dr. Natera and I'm looking forward to it, as I am already working with his nutritionist, Irene. The hospital is really only 20 minutes away from El Paso?
  7. I'm thinking of getting the lap band procedure in Mexico but was wondering if anybody knew of any doctors in Massachusetts or the New England area that will do fills for patients that had surgery outside of the country. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated!
