high blood pressure and low pulse

That's interesting. How far post op are you?

high blood pressure and low pulse

That's an odd response from your dr unless your are a professional athlete or something. I've done a lot of reading and the things that keep coming up are bradycardia (which could require a pacemaker). hypothyroidism, and sleep apnea. I have sleep apnea but I'm on a cpap so??? I have no idea.

Thanks for sharing! You look amazing!

    Nickel allergy and surgical staples

I don't have any new information about this, except that I am 6 weeks out, and I have not had any problems with it...thankfully.

what were you able to eat at 7 weeks out.

I'm in my 7th week. I'm able to eat a wide variety of meats. I've eaten steak (2.5 oz at a time). I can eat tenderloin, chicken, hamburger patties, spaghetti, etc. You won't be able to eat much. I like to order off of the kids menu or share with my husband (although sometimes he doesn't like to share) lol I just stay away from breads and sugar, etc. Just remember small bites and chew, chew, chew!

    slim fast low carb shakes?

I've been using it. It's my favorite one for sure. I've been getting them at Sam's and sometimes Walmart. Walmart doesn't always have the low carb ones though, but I've always found them at my local Sam's Club.
  7. I've had a couple of days this week where my sleeve didn't like much of anything. I've been nauseous - on the verge of vomiting a couple of days. Today I did throw up for the first time post sleeve. I'm almost 6 weeks out. I'm on a PPI and following dr and nut diet completely. Foods that have been a staple are now making me ill. Did anyone go through periods like this?

    Blood Pressure Meds

I have not been on blood pressure meds since the day of my surgery. I checked it at home every morning after surgery and it has been great, so I quit taking it. I've had it checked at the dr's office a couple of times as well and it has been very good. I was only on 25 mg (1/2 pill) of Atenolol, and I had only been taking it for 6-8 months prior to surgery. I had my dr's ok to stop taking it and to monitor it on a daily basis.
  9. All this talk about hunger and false hunger has me so confused. I've been on omeprazole since I came home from the hospital. I've still felt gnawing hunger in the pit of my stomach. I feel it while I'm eating, after I've eaten, and between meals. It feels like a hungry stomach!! (I know for certain it is NOT head hunger, so please don't go there!) I ran out of my PPI so I bought some prevacid. I see my dr Wednesday, but in the meantime I just don't get it. The only time I've had reflux was during pregnancy which felt like burning in my throat. This is nothing like that. I know this has been discussed to death. I've searched and read topic after topic, but I still just don't get it. When you top this off with the fact that I haven't lost a pound (in fact I was UP a pound this morning) for the past 3 weeks...it's just so frustrating.
  10. if it would really work for you? I just have this feeling in my 'gut' that I won't actually be able to lose this weight. I'm in my 3rd week and have stalled (which I know is very common), but I just can't help but be filled with doubts. I've dieted and lost soooo many pounds in my life that I'm not sure I can believe in the possibility any more. I know this may sound silly, but it's really gnawing at me. Did any of you have serious doubts only to be proven wrong? Thanks for humoring me

Did any of you ever wonder...

I pray that one day I will be on here announcing my 100 lb weight loss! Congratulations on your success! Hopefully once we move toward maintenance, we'll acquire confidence as well.

Did any of you ever wonder...

Thanks so much for taking the time to reassure me. My scale was up a pound today which didn't help, but I know that it has go down eventually!

I just don't know the difference

Thanks Nancy, I am doing pretty good on my protein and I don't drink while eating. I do wait for 30 minutes after eating. Thanks again

I just don't know the difference

Thanks for your reply. I was sleeved July 12. I should have been more clear in my hunger. I don't feel it all day, every day. But I feel it a lot every day. I can't find a pattern to it, and I'm just so confused about this acid thing because I've never experienced it before wls. It's also hard for me to understand my body's signals when I keep feeling this gnawing in my stomach. I don't want to stretch my sleeve, but I can definitely tell that I'm eating more now than I did at 2 weeks out and that kind of scares me. This is my last chance to lose this weight and I want to do it right once and for all. When I heard about the sleeve and that it's a restriction only surgery, I totally believed that it would work for me. I felt certain of this because of the fact that when I was pregnant with twins I only gained 14 pounds. My babies took up so much room in my body and they pressed on my stomach so much that I could only eat a few bites before I felt just too full to eat. Even though I was very overweight, my dr wanted me to gain more weight through my pregnancy but I just couldn't eat. There was even one month well into it that I lost weight, which my dr was not happy about. Anyway...my point is, that I felt fuller when I had my whole stomach and pregnant with twins than I do now with my sleeve. Thanks again for your input. I really appreciate it.
  15. I feel hungry every 2 hours too. I just ate most of an egg, ham, cheese omelet (1 egg, 1 slice ham lunch meat, 1/8 cup shredded cheese). I quit eating because I felt like it was enough, but I still feel hunger. I don't want to put another bite in my mouth, but my stomach is still gnawing at me. Tuesday I'll be 5 weeks out, and I've felt hunger from the very beginning. I'm taking omeprazole (PPI), but today was my last pill, so I'm definitely going to buy something over the counter. I go back to the dr on Wednesday, so we will be having a heart-to-heart. lol

Did any of you ever wonder...

Have you measured yourself at all? I measured the day before surgery, and I measured again this morning. Yesterday was 1 month post op. I've lost 13 inches total, and I can definitely tell in my clothes. I'm able to fit in some clothes that were way too tight before, and I'm 'almost' down a size in pants. I can get them zipped but they're just a tad tighter than I would like. My belly is definitely my biggest appearance enemy. lol No question that a tummy tuck will be necessary one day...assuming this stall will one day break! lol

    What was your Bougie Size?

My surgeon uses a 34 french exclusively.

Did any of you ever wonder...

Tuesday I will be 5 weeks post op. The scale hasn't moved since I was 2 weeks post. Frustrating is a huge understatement.
  19. mythreechildren2001

When did you feel good post op

The first 5 days were pretty rough for me. By about 3 1/2 weeks out, I feel pretty much back to normal.

    Post Op pain

    1. Did you have a lot of pain? The pain was a lot worse than I expected...mostly caused by gas. Do you have a surgical history? I've had knee surgery, a c-section, a myomectomy... I expected it to be comparable to the pain I felt after my c-section, but it was far, far worse. 2. Did you have a preop diet to shrink your liver? My dr only required a liquid diet for the day before surgery. 3. Did you keep up your pain medication? My surgery was on Tuesday (July 12). I took pain medicine through the Friday after that. 4. How old are you? 47

    Feeling frustrated and depressed

I feel your pain. I was sleeved 7/12. I lost 18 lbs the first 2 weeks and nothing these last 2 weeks. It's frustrating and makes you wonder if you'll be the 'one' that it just doesn't work for. I'm trying to be patient, but that's not my best personality trait so it's not working out for me so well. I guess we just have to keep hanging in there!

    Burping

When I first started eating soft foods, I knew to stop when I burped slightly. I'm now 4 weeks out, and i burp and hiccup after my first bite so I don't really know what my full signal is anymore!

What was the worst part after surgery ?

I was shocked to see that I slept like a baby the night before surgery! I thought I would be up all night, but that was not the case! Best wishes tomorrow!!!

What was the worst part after surgery ?

I will be 4 weeks out Tuesday. I remember waking up in recovery saying that I was going to throw up, but I never did. I've not experienced any vomiting at all. I had slight nausea on day 3, but once I started taking the acid reducer the dr prescribed that ended. Without question the worst part was the gas pain, and some people don't even experience that at all! The next worst thing was incision pain/discomfort on my largest incision, but that wasn't a big deal at all! The first 4-5 days were the toughest in terms of discomfort, but once I had those days behind me the rest has been awesome!! I'm loving my sleeve and I thank God every day for giving me the opportunity to have this surgery.
