  1. Hello September family,

Thanks so much to all the well-wishers, especially Pookie and Pitpat. Well, I made it to Bandland!! Horrible pain post-surgery, just now getting manageable. They gave me morphine yesterday to shut me up. Seems I had a really bad hernia with part of colon protruding into stomach (so don't panic anyone, Dr. says the hernia repair was responsible for most of the pain). Surgery was at 7am-ish, and they told me to get dressed and brought a wheelchair for me at 4:30. Had a few dry heave episodes which were heck on earth. I've forced myself to walk, walk, and walk some more. As bad as it has been, wouldn't change a thing about my decision.

The unjury came today, just in time. So I can have some Protein with my strained chicken noodle Soup. I'm feeling a bit loopy, nodding out as I am typing. Time for another nap. My wamest wishes to all!!

Bless your heart!!! Even going through all that you are still encouraging us. I hope tomorrow will be much better for you. Thank you for taking the time and effort to let us hear from you. You are in my prayers. Hope to hear from you tomorrow. sleep well, PitPat:thumbup:

  2. I AM BACK !!!! And I have very little pain or discomfort... actually I feel almost 98% NORMAL RIGHT NOW. The 2% is for the big gauze bandage at my belly button where the port is and some very little gas. I am actually feeling no pain at all. Maybe it might change in a hour or a day but now 8 hours Post Surgery I feel great. I feel renewed !!!:smile2::blushing::cursing::tt1:

Anyway I get there 11:20am, filled forms, and go into Pre-Op. I actually had my surgery is a upscale Surgery Center - Valencia Town Center Surgery which is in an upscale outdoor mall. I didn't think much of it at first but behind the store front lobby is a fully equipped and staffed O.R. I was amazed. And it was upscale and nice to boot - not very sterile hospital like but a nice operating room / recovery room.

My Doctor is Dr. Michael Feiz of Beverly Hills and I did in in Dr. Mark Lussier's Valencia Town Center Surgery. Dr. Feiz is my surgeon who stopped counting his Lap Bands after 1000 and he does 10-15 a week. Dr. Lussier is the Surgery Center owner / boss / Plastic Surgeon and he has been extraordinary in his support.

The actual surgery I have no recollection of as I was out like a light. I woke up around 2pm after a 40 minute surgery. He also fixed my Hiatal Hernia. I was pretty groggy and in some discomfort but no real pain just very very groggy and discomfort / annoyance.

I got home around 3pm and went to bed immediately / out like a light. I woke up around 7pm and have felt basically normal ever since. Actually as I type this I feel great - hopefully I just didn't jinx myself or I don't know how I will feel tomorrow... But I do feel great now.

Congratulations!! I hope it will be that easy for the rest of us. :couch2: You make it sound like a walk in the park and that is very encouraging. I pray you will feel this good tomorrow. Rest well. PitPat

  3. Hey all,

Just wanted to check in. Tomorrow is the big day. I drank the magnesium citrate, had my husband give me the Lovenox shot, and took the shower with the special soap I was given. I have had my final liquid meal. I'm nervous and excited. As of noon today, I still wasn't sure the surgery was a go due to a problem with low potassium which has since resolved (Dr. quadrupled my Rx potassium dosage for the past few days). Fortunately, all went well, and I was told this afternoon to be at the hospital tomorrow by 5:30am. You guys are the greatest. I'll check in again when I can.

Congratulations!!! I'm praying for you. It's good to see an "Alabama Girl" here. I thought maybe I was the only overweight female in Alabama. But we won't be for long!:)

  4. It's starting to feel real! Last week was last meeting with the dietician and my pre-op class. Surgery on Friday!

This weekend I found myself eating more than I have been, a mental 'last hurrah' I guess. I felt pretty gross after all that food. I'm going for a nice dinner tonight and then shopping tonight to stock up on clear liquids/jello/etc. I start my 2 day pre-op clear liquid diet tomorrow. I will be on a week of clear liquids post-op, then 2 weeks full liquid, then on to puree.

I finally told my mother about the surgery on Sunday and she was supportive (huge relief!).

I'm getting nervous but all the support here is helping lots.

    Congratulation!!!!!

  5. Tommorow is the day I cross over to the banded side of this journey. I am getting somewhat antsy but I know this is the right decision for me. I'm sending my prayers and best wishes to all you who have the same band birthday as me and a special thanks to all those who have gone before me and who have helped me by their experiences in this group.

I will be praying for you and I know you will do fine. I look forward to hearing from you 'after' the surgery. I am sixty-four years 'young' so I am really interested in those bandsters that are over fifty (and sixty). Try not to worry...just dream of the day you are slim. God be with you and the surgeon.:(

  6. Hello!

I'm happy to officially join this group!

I finally got both my insurance approval and my date. I will be banded on September 3.

RK, we're one day apart - with the same surgeon! We'll be in the same preop class on the 25th. I live down in Carrollton so it's a trek up and back but it's worth it.

Here's to all of us who are making new starts in September!

So glad to hear of someone in Georgia! I'm waiting on a date. Hopefully they will call me next week. I've been approved and been through the whole nine yards. Just excited and ready!

Thanks to everyone for your input. We all need to hear encouraging words.

    PitPat

  7. Thank you for posting about Dr. Srinivasan. I have just finished all the required testing and nutrition class and hope to hear a date next week. Can you tell me how you are doing now? And how many fills you've had? What is the cost of each fill? I have so many questions and I am thrilled to hear of someone that has used this doctor. Thank you for all the info you can give me.
