Where in Illinois are you? I'm in Bloomington. Dr. Sidney Rohrshieb is my surgeon. He's so nice and sees patients in chicago, clinton, champaign, and mt. vernon. he's doing my surgery 5/7 in clinton. who are you seeing?

congrats!!! I am soooo excited for May 7th to get here!! Does anyone want to exchange email addresses or whatever to buddy up? I'm not sure if I'll feel like signing on after surgery, but am addicted to my blackberry! but would love to keep up with all of you as we start our new journey together!

It must all be based on the insurance company. I haven't had any testing done. I went to my pre-op appointment last week and they sent me over to the hospital to pre-register there I had blood drawn. That's the only thing I've had done outside of meeting with the psych. at the office and the diatician once at the office. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Anthem

Would any of you like to buddy up? and share our experiences together, keep each other encouraged, etc?

Is it weird that I haven't had to do any of the testing?

I don't have to have any of the other pre-op tests either. I can't wait for May 7!!! I'm starting to get nervous about the pro op diet I start friday though!

I am right there with you! Im getting banded May 7th. I had my pre-op visit today and chest xray as well as blood work. I'm nervous about the upcoming weeks, but at the same time I'm so ready for them to hurry up and be over so I can start my new banded life!

I got approved today! I'm having surgery May 7th!

I'm in the same boat right now... I keep trying to figure out how to pay for this surgery if I don't get approved. My surgeon's office sent everything into my insurance company 3/25/10... so hopefully I'll hear this week!! How long have you been waiting?

Just an update I found out today that my doctor's office sent in all the stuff to my insurance (BCBS/Anthem) thursday 3/25/10... hope that means I'll hear something this week!! I'm sooo ready for this (and excited!) I feel like a little kid counting down the days until Christmas morning! lol

Which protien shake do you guys prefer? Just wanting to know which ones are good for when I start my pre-op diet

I'm 28 5'4" and 271. I am just beginning LAP-BAND® journey. I'm at the trying to patiently wait for approval from my insurance company period so that I can set up a surgery date. I thought it would be nice to "buddy" up with a fellow LAP-BAND® buddy to have someone to encourage each other and vent our frustrations to! Any one interested? Even if your starting your journey too lets buddy up!

Anyone know how long it took them to get approved by bcbs of illinois? I had all me eval etc last wednesday and my surgeon was just waiting for a fax from my doctor then turning it into my insurance. Just wondering if anyone has an idea how long it usually takes to get approved? Thanks!

I haven't told anyone about mine either. I told my mom and thats it. My boyfriend of 8months asked me about my recent doctor visits and i lied to him about it. I feel bad, but at the same time I don't know what people will think of me and I'm scared.

I'm a little worried about the pain in the shoulder and at the port site, my doctor said thats where most my pain will be after surgery..is it reallllly bad? I have a very high tolerance for pain..so hoping I will be ok!

I am SOOOOO looking forward to going shopping after I lose weight! My closet is already overflowing... I can only imagine how much worse it's about to get!
