    Isopure zero carb protein drinks...

Unjury protein powder is at Unjury.com. I found cocotein on GNC.com or even at a GNC store. Haven't tried Syntrex which I think I got at vitalady.com (some can correct me on that). Unjury and Syntrex you can buy sample pkgs, 1 serving, to see if you like it.

    Looking for a New PCP

Same here. I'm very particular in chosing a doctor as had a bad experience with a family practice doctor. I usually went to a internalist as worked in a teaching hospital but switched to a family practice doctor when I moved. He was my daughter's doctor and I had gone with her several times. He has always been very supportive of my weight loss and helped with the lap band and now with RNY. As far as my RNY I will continue to see my surgeon for the rest of my life if need be and they even suggested that.

    Unsupportive Family

Well I actually don't have much family anymore, but if all were still with me, they could voice their opinion and I would listen. They would also know that I don't bow to any type of peer pressure whether it is family or friends. I'm not trying to lose the weight for them, it is my health, my decision, my life, not theirs. I try to control my own life and don't need anyone else trying to control it. I am a firm believer if someone is trying to control me, then they don't have control of themselves.

    oh my god.

Took two extra strength Tylenol yesterday and didn't have a problem. But have always used Tylenol even before surgery as I knew asprin could cause ulcers, so tried to avoid them except for the 81gm baby asprin, but haven't been taking that since before surgery. That one is for my heart, to help keep the blood thin.

    Any Band converters under........

The morning of RNY I weighed 211, that was 9/11 now on 9/26 I weigh 201. I am sure some place down the road it will slow down, but totally happy, as I'm only taking 3 HP meds, down from 6, no longer any cholesterol meds, nor oral diabetes meds. BS are in the normal range with with a little over 1 unit of insulin through an Omnipod every hour. Big improvement from a total of 75-100 units per day. Totally better than what I did with the band. With that only lost about 40 lbs. in three years. Not going to worry about too much weight loss as will go back to see a Nut if need be.

    Waiting..update

What a positive attitude you have and you should do great once you have surgery. Your weight loss already shows that and good for you as that definitely is a good amount lost. Now about the glass half full. My response would have been there is no such thing as a glass half full, because the other half contains air I read that some where and that it was a good response. Keep us posted.

    Protein shake yes or no

Same here I was to have at least 40-60 gms of protein as soon as I got home the day after surgery. So I mixed crystal lite with my water and added either protein powder unflavored or I happened to like strawberry-watermelon crystal lite and added strawberry protein. By adding it to my water I felt I was killing two birds with one stone. 64ozs of water and at least 40 gms of protein.

    Isopure zero carb protein drinks...

Actually know, I drink one Cocotein which has isopure in it and it is really sweet. But I drink it anyway because it contains 20 gms of protein in 16 ozs. So you aren't the only one that thinks it is sweet. I use Unjury for my other protein supplement.
  12. Other than losing 9 lbs since surgery on 9/11, the doctors dc three medications completely, two of which were blood pressure. On my follow up, my blood pressure was the best in probably 20 years. My blood sugar are at normal range by only using 30.40 units through an insulin pump daily down from 75 units plus. BMI is now under 35, bearly, but still under. Looking forward to being able to walk more than a block without getting out of breath and be able to talk at the same time .

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?

Had the surgery, doing great will be going back to work on Wednesday. Down 7 lbs last time I weighed. Had very little discomfort to speak of. Blood pressure is down to normal with 2 1/4 pills, which I'll probably have to take because of dystolic disfunction of the heart, still taking a little insulin on the pump but actually running close to normal in the 80's. Stamia is still weak but understand, I'm not as young as I use to be, but doing better than when I had the lapband.
  14. Actually you'll probably have the decision fairly fast. It just has to be written up by the judge making it a court order. Benefits should go back to date of application for disability as well as any children under the age of 18. The down side is Medicare which also will date back to date of application but there is a waiting period of two years from that date and that is only for your husband. So sorry regarding Tony's health, praying he'll find some answers that will help his health issues.

    Pain levels

Had surgery on a Wednesday, used the pain pump about every two hours, sent home next day. Used liquid Vicodin every 6 hours for two days, then went to 12 hours. Took my last dose on Sunday morning. Actually was ready to go back to work on Monday but I took two weeks off. Can't say that I was pain free, yes there was discomfort where the drains were at, but each day it got better and the more I got up the better I felt. Going back to work next Wednesday. I happen to have a very high tolerance to some types of pain, surgery is one of the high tolerance pain I can handle.
  18. I had staples and one stitch which were all removed 1 week post-op.

    smoothies

I think in one of the bariatric books I read, before RNY, they suggested "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein Shakes" by Nikki Massie, she went under RNY in 2008 and has maintained her 120 lb weight loss. Found the book on Amazon. Haven't tried any as many take sf syrup, but what I have read I can't help but believe some of these would be assume.
  20. Great weight loss congrats. I'm having the same problem as you. So one of my favorites, right now, is 26 oz of water mixed with strawberry/watermelon crystal lite and one scoop of strawberry protein. Last night I changed up a little because I want more protein, did sugar free hot chocolate mixed with a scoop of unflavored protein, doesn't take as long to drink. You are right after all of this your not hungry so I am forcing myself to eat but only about two tablespoons of cottage cheese, applesauce, yogurt, refried beans, and going to try a poached egg shortly.
  21. oldoneyoungagain

    How much can everyone eat?

I'm 9 days out and my biggest problem I don't feel hungry at all. I'm going to try a poached egg shortly but I'm actually forcing myself to eat. I seem more focused on staying hydrated and getting enough protein and my vitamins. Today was 2 tablespoons of fat free cottage cheese with cinnamon, and same amount of refried beans. Hopefully this will turn around once the swelling of the stomach goes down.

    Concered

Normally the lower back just above the hip bone, is a kidney area. To me you are not drinking enough water and it is a must. Not only for hydration but also to keep the calcium flushed out of the kidneys so as not to create kidney stones. My only suggestion is you need to get in to see your doctor. 20 oz of water is not near enough to keep you hydrated.

    Sweets

My surgeon stated that one or two bites probably won't hurt, but if you go for the whole piece then you probably will dump. This same question was brought up at the weight loss meeting. I'm not there yet, just 1 week post op.
  24. oldoneyoungagain

Surgery was last Monday on September 9.

It is amazing all the different diets the surgeons' but us on. My surgery was 9/11 and I was allowed to do cottage cheese, yogurt, refried beans, sf pudding on day four and today I am to start with soft boiled eggs or poached eggs. Food does look good, but I'm not hungry and trying to even get the above in is almost impossible for me. Just trying to get in all the fluids first. Agree the protein drinks are getting rather old. But we can look forward to eating somewhat normal down the road, just not as much.
